No! Unless you are forced. They treat you like you are unable to make decisions for yourself. My bags were searched, my personal items taken. I brought a checker board, thinking it could be fun at the end of the day. I was told that checkers wouldn’t be allowed, What? Only thing missing from the experience was getting my fingerprints taken, and a mug shot. There are definitely better ways to gain experience in conservation and environmental sciences. Pay is a joke, they take it all for camping, which is probably free for them, and the food,( which is not enough for the work your doing), is lacking. Taking advantage of at risk youth, seems to be how this organization is able to operate.

I have to say, I am disappointed that you got a very negative review from one person. He must have had an awful time, but the place to complain is with you all directly. I want to say this has been the best experience for my daughter. She went to Idaho ..starting in Boise and the Ketchum and Stanley, and going into the wilderness of course. She worked in Three National Forests: Boise, Payette and Sawtooth.
As she put it "Work is hard.Life is good." She would agree with one who said it was worth every bead of sweat. She was in her element and would go back in a heartbeat.

My personal experience was horrible. You pay $63 a week for food, and a majority of it is sausage or Ramen, that the kids have to prepare. The most memorable of the rules was "Leave No Trace," meaning if your food hit the ground you had to eat it. Personally disgusted with the experience and treatment by terribly trained crew leaders. The kids are brainwashed into believing that they are being payed well, and that they must work hard to earn their WEEKLY shower at the local campgrounds. My crew leader crashed our bus my second week on the job. Would not recommend to anyone except minimal security prisoners.

I did a session over the summer of 2017 and i had a great experience. Yes the work was very hard, and we had to evacuate 3 times from being rained out, to a wildfire driving us out, but we got through it and my group had a blast. Personally this was the best experience of my life, of course after getting over the uncomfortable things, but i will be doing two more sessions this year in the late summer and early fall. and in all honesty i thought the pay would be a little bit better but for the experience just over 1k was worth it

I did the program for five weeks during August. I came from France and I personally had any issues. They were all, the staff and other crew members very nice and kind with me, very professional. When I read the precedent post it's make me sad because if for example we took a shower for five minutes it's only because we didn't 't have the time cause of long journey that we had to do every week. And you don't have to spend more than 5 minutes in the shower except if you love wasted water. It's hard work but the environment is such beautiful. During five weeks you met wonderful person with who you build very strong relationship. The staff love and perfectly know what they do. Today I can say that this program change my life.
