When working for Northside it was great working with the teachers, parents and families but as far as management is concerned their no support for the staff at all. The parents are always right and teachers are always wrong. They do not train the staff on paper work but at the same time are expect for the work to be done on time. When they send you on home visits their no metro cards and you have to use your own or walk to the home visit. The company have no benefits for the staff because the benefits the company offers are too expensive for the staff because they want to take out the money every time you get paid instead of once of month like all other companies do. I would not recommend any one looking for a job to work there. Another thing when a teacher is out they do not send anyone in the classroom with you they will leave you by yourself and check on you. When they feel like sending someone they will send you a family worker who in and out of the room doing their own work.

When it comes to Preventative services, they do not care about families. The more people they encounter the worse it is for them. They do not care if your kids disrespect you and don't notify you of the proper programs that could help you! Even if your case worker disrespects you, the very director won't even say a word! They do not answer phone calls/emails/ or texts messages in a timely or respectful manner BUT only when it's beneficial to them! They will forget that you exist and no fault will be put on them! I've contacted ACS about them and they refuse to care either! Even after stating that I required someone's help to watch my kids if I ever had to receive medical help (like surgery, asthma, or a lengthy emergency procedure), THEY STILL did not take me seriously! It is heartbreaking and soul crushing to know that even when these people are getting paid to care and do their job with federal, tax paper's money, they will not do it well, regardless of its utmost importance!!! Not to mention, they detest deadlines!
They will make you want to do the unthinkable AND they never fail to use their power agaisnt you! They control your time, energy, and home once you step into their world and of course, they lack SERIOUS EMPATHY!!! If you want to care about yourself and your children, stay far away from this place!

Northside has many programs. The school on 110th is very supportive to their families, they work in partnership with their families working together to find the best techniques in working with the children s individual needs. The administration is very helpful assisting parents in ensuring they receive the appropriate services, they are advocates for the children trying new and innovative techniques to ensure the children reach their highest potential.

I am a previous employee of Northside Center. I worked there for only 6 months because I couldn't stand to work there the entire year. The students were the highlight of my job and I wish I could've worked with them longer. The staff would talk negatively about a child in front of them and do not prioritize what is best for the child. The company only cares about how they look to investors. I was told that my student who couldn't walk should not crawl on the floor to gym because "it didn't look good". The librarian didn't know how to work with my students because they were "too low". Any time I advocated for my students and their rights, I was immediately shot down. I consistently went to the administration for support regarding staff in my classroom being unprofessional, lazy, and physical with the students, but nothing was ever said or done. The one good thing that the company did was allow me to work and get paid as a licensed teacher while we were waiting for my NY teaching license to reciprocate. I met with HR after submitting my 2 weeks notice and informed them of everything I experienced and witnessed. I would never work here again and I would not recommend this center to any parent looking for a therapeutic center for their child.

In the beginning this school seemed alright and the kids love it at first but after a while they re crying when they re being dropped off and the kids don t like being left alone with certain teacher such as Tamika and Yvonne. Tamika I believe hit the kids because they never want to be near her and she acts funny towards the parents like she ll just stare you down and not speak. Yvonne has been seen screaming on those babies like they re grown adults and she doesn t cater to their needs. When it comes to potty training, if a child says they have to use the potty after about 30 minutes of going they catch an attitude and tell him/her to sit down and shut up. If the child soils them self they get yelled at. They also have favorites in this school. My son was attacked by another student more than 5 times by being bitten and they did nothing at all but put my son in the corner. Thanks a lot Stephanie! In the classroom next door they have a little boy and a little girl who rarely speaks or interacts with anyone and I feel like it s out of fear. In most cases they would have a teacher spend one on one time with those students but no, they just sit there sad all day until their mothers come. I heard of another parent asking to see the tapes because her son was attacked 3 times by having a busted lip and she never got answers. Another thing that worries me is they have a constant bed bug, lice and HFM disease problem here. You know families have issues but yet y all still encourage them to bring their kids. The health department needs to investigate for sure. If you re going to enroll your child here then please PROCEED WITH CAUTION! Randomly check in on your kids for their safety!

I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to send their child to this child care. its great for babies but if you want to prepare your child for school look somewhere else. I found this out way too late and when it was time for my son to start school he was not prepared and ended up being behind the kids in his class. He was better off staying at home, he could have learned much more!

This is a horrible school especially for kids with disabilities. My grandson went to this school July 2017 And was only there for a week ..the teachers and staff don t show any emotion for the Kids. The classrooms are mainly white n black like a prison. My grandson was sooo happy to attend school the first two days then he would cry before getting to the school and the third day when I came to pick him up there was a scratch on his face and nobody know how it got there. I don t send ur child here if you want them to succeed

Dr.Soloman, the psychologist I worked with was extremely rude to my mother and I. Not only that, he kept pressuring me to give reasoning behind my actions that brought me to this center. For teenagers, the social worker is kind. However the psychologist is extremely rude. Furthermore, I was supposed to have therapy weekly (as ordered by my hospital,) however Dr.Soloman told me my medicine was not effective just yet and told me to come back in a month. Perhaps it is miscommunication between the center and the hospital, however I did not appreciate that man yelling at my mother and I. Would not recommend to any teenager seeking therapy.

School not made for kids with certain type of disabilities but they still take them, making the kid to suffer for not been understand and making parents feel guilty for your kids situations. Much better schools out there

I have worked for Northside for over 4 years and have been pleasantly surprised. The staff at 110th are very dedicated staff that put their heart and soul in their work. They but the needs of the children first. They are willing to try new and innovative techniques if it will help the development of the students. It takes a special group of adults that are able to work with students with disabilities, they are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the students reach their highest potential. As we all know preschool special needs programs are unable to pay competitive salaries but we are blessed to have highly qualified staff that are dedicated.
