I love the library!!! I'm there at least once a week and any time I've needed help finding something, there's always been a friendly staff member ready to assist. I wish the library would open earlier on Sunday.

This library is huge. Everything except the check out desk and kids section is on the second floor. There's a huge selection of both books and multimedia. Staff, for the most part is friendly but some are friendlier than others as is the case anywhere you go. Parking is very easy to deal with but turning out is a real pain, regardless of whether you make a left or right.
This is a wonderful library - wide collection, on-site second hand book store, plenty of free parking. Lots of computers and many private study areas. Librarians are very professional and helpful.
I have encountered unbelievably rude management here. I'm convinced they (management) are sorely lacking in social skills and politeness. My advice is to stick to Shaler - they are much friendlier. Who lets their managers treat the public like that? I felt like a criminal.
I have visited this library many times and cannot say enough about the staff that help me. Questions are answered to my satisfaction, checking out is persoal and friendly. Had one issue and manager made things right. I highly recommend this library.
Great library and location, but haven't had the friendliest interactions with front desk staff. They always seem annoyed on the few occasions I've inquired about books, etc, but this won't keep me from utilizing the facility.
Since when does a library deem that a counter-view - on this occasion, "Inconvenient Facts: The Science That Al Gore Doesn t Want You To Know", did 'not meet your standards'? One has to ask 'what are your standards that would lead you to not stocking this piece of work? A piece that challenges accepted views of your own perhaps? Where is this piece in relation to your mandate of "Relevance to interests, local authors, significance, freedom of expression, published reviews"? Surely your decision smacks of censorship and a failure of freedom of speech in your establishment. Many like myself will purchase it and bypass your library, a sad situation that reflects badly on what should be a haven of free speech.
A really well managed library that for its relatively small size has everything you would expect. Only issue is that after 3 PM tutors and their students descend on the place taking up almost all the available seating. There are only two small areas that are tutor free. These people are not actually using the library itself; they don t browse the books, read newspapers, or quietly work on their own. Instead the use the place as free office space to earn income denying actual library users access. They should be confined to available space in the meeting rooms where they would not impact the actual library users.
Be prepared to be called to the desk if You return a book that has any damage to it. You will be paged down to the return counter and just Like professor umbridge did to Harry potter you will have to write on your hand with a metal quill "I will not tell lies" because they Will Not believe you if you plead your case that you never would do such a thing like some ignorant person did to my family, thank you for allowing your child to ruin the book, hence ruining my day off as I stood at the return counter wondering what the hell just happened. If you unknowingly return a book that the library staff failed to check before it went out the door and it is damaged prepare yourselves to be accosted by the overhead page system as you are comfortably ambling through the soups and stews cookbook aisle looking for the newest instant pot book --which I never did rent out after the sheer embarrassment I suffered while being eyed up and down, the aforesaid colored in book shoved under my shocked nose as I stood there, becoming more and more redfaced and indignant, silently disdaining looks from other patrons, library staff eyes boring down at me scowling like "we KNOW it was YOU!" I mean really? Please do us all a favor--if you damage a book please own up to it and pay for it or offer to replace it. Dont dishonestly return it for another person to take the brunt of your doing. And library staff please dont treat people like they are criminals! We are not all jerks who would do that to a book, that is why good people -like some of us- are still using and respect the library and what it can offer to us as a sanctum to sit and relax, unwind and enjoy a good book. That day I was accosted last week for something i did not do was far from enjoyable. So while you are training your staff to check and recheck books for damage before they leave the building, train them to be kinder and not abrasively rude and accusatory, check the account for past offences before you assume and accost a person and roll your eyes as they state they did not do what you are saying they did, and especially not in front of their child and other patrons. Speaking to the director helped dull the anger and shock, but I don't think the bad taste this library's staff left that day by how I was treated will ever go away. Remember people wont remember anything more about you than how you treat them. Now all I will envision walking in to the return desk is the possibility of anger, aggravation, tight lipped wrinkled faced scowling staff where there once was a magical feeling where everyone was smiling and happy and you were all there, to share the love of the written word on paper, not to be accused of vandalism. It was a good lesson to me that times surely are changing and people are less likely to uphold fair treatment and respect.
This is a great local library with a good selection. Their online services are comprehensive and easy to use. All the staff I have encountered have been pleasant and helpful.
I grew up with this library around me. Very convenient to have it near the school and friendly people. There's study rooms and a good selection of books. Great place to read or study.
Awful treatment from library staff manager. Her staff asked me not to bring them into an inquiry with her as they are afraid of her. I just had an inquiry and was berated.
Even during a pandemic, you're able to get books and use computers. Obviously, use precaution as we all should (wipe off keyboard, hand sanitizer before touching books, etc,). Nothing can keep this library down!
A great library full of great books. Plenty of helpful librarians and lots of computers for you to work on. I go there fairly often and there's no reason not to go to this library.
So quiet, I could hear the flutter of a moths wings in the basement, when I was located on the top floor. Clean, great social distancing, missed y'all being open
This is a great library in a convenient location. Ordering books for pickup is super easy! I also enjoy the collaborative working spaces upstairs, although it can sometimes get loud.
I have been more than impressed with the kind and quick service of this library. With the interlibrary loan system being on hold during the pandemic, we have resorted to driving to individual libraries to satisfy our children's voracious reading appetites. THANKS SO MUCH, NORTHLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY!!
