I went in this past weekend to trade in my Audi for a like new Genesis. I spent about an hour with the sales rep and felt pretty good about him and the car. He called his manager who came over and said "I'm not going to waste your time or MINE so unless your going to buy the car now I don't want to run numbers for you." I was so turned off by the guys rude approach we left never to return. This guy didn't realize I was a cash buyer and had it not been for his horrible sales technique I would have drove out of their with an (almost) new car. Worst experience ever and that says a lot for buying a car!

No problem with Hyundai cars, (I've owned three) it's the dealership. Now Bob Baker. We turned in our 2017 lease and got a new vehicle. It was the end of June. We got the new vehicle on July 3rd. My old registration expired at the end of June. Since then, the DMV has been sending renewal notices to me for the old car. The dealer said it was taken care of. It was not. Just got a delinquent renewal for the old car 9/9/19. The DMV still shows me as the owner on record-meaning still liable for that car (parking tickets etc.) I called the dealer, and was transferred to the finance department. They did not answer the phone so I left a message at 9:30AM. I did not receive a call by noon so I called again, and again they did not answer. I left another message. No call back at 4:30 PM so I called again and asked to speak to a sales manager. I explained the problem to him and he told me to call the DMV. Why do I have to contact them? Plus, I have no release of liability form issued from the dealer. I tried to call and getting through is like winning the lottery, it never happened. Plus, would they take my word over the phone that I do not own the car? I tried calling Hyundai finance "twice" and they told me the car was turned in-"really" I didn't know that? They also advised me to call the dealer. Now we're on the hamster wheel. So, Bob Baker offered NO HELP to straighten this out and I am not going to counterfeit a release of liability. Sales people are sooo nice selling you a car but offer no help after the purchase.

This is one of those toxic dealerships. You won't find anyone with an ounce of integrity. You'll want to have a very hot shower after being in there very long, just to wash the cooties off. They are totally old school shysters that are looking for easy targets to hit homeruns off. Save yourself from the wasted time you'll invite as they practice psychological manipulation and offensive shaming that implies you don't know what you're talking about. Hyundais have very poor residual/resale value now, so look for recent model years in used cars and save a bundle over the new cars

I brought Sonata plug-in Hybrid at Bob Baker Carlsbad and it was pleasant experience. My family and I really enjoyed the service I got here. I would like to mention specifically of Mikail Crosby. He was extremely professional, great car knowledge and went through all the details patiently.
We spent quite a few hours here but the lounge, coffee & snacks and friendly atmosphere really made us comfortable.

I have been going to Bob Baker Hyundai for all of the services on my 2018 Elantra since I purchased the vehicle and they have always done right by me. I knew i would be paying a little bit more by taking it to the dealer for services, but i am extremely confident in their expertise. it has been well worth it. I drive for a living so I am in there every 2 months or so for Oil changes, etc. Not sure i would trust another place like i trust them.

Was a little disappointed at first because we were dealing with a young man on his first day so he was more about a sales pitch and not very knowledgeable, though he was extremely nice. However, the gentleman who we talked to after had a lot more information and when he talked to us we no longer felt like we were being snowed, we could tell the man was genuine. Even though we didn't complete the sale that day, we're probably going to return and buy the car.

I am a positive person and really don't go out of my way to write a review positive or negative. I think my only other review was on Yelp and it was positive. However, after telling the salesperson my offer at North County Hyundai I politely walked out of the store as he could not meet my offer. Moreover, the dealer said the vehicle I was looking for was nowhere to be found in Hyundai's nationwide inventory. The dealer continued to call and leave numerous phone messages as well approximately 15 emails. I found ten of the very same vehicles at Poway Hyundai at the TMV price that I had offered North County Hyundai. I told the Scott I found my vehicle at Poway Hyundai. He wrote me an email saying they use "bait and hook" tactics at that dealer where they say they have the model and at that specific price until you go into the dealer and then it's not available. We don't use those tactics here(I saved the email for my own humor as I never knew the same brand of dealer would talk about each dealer like that). The very next day my wife and I had the smoothest car buying experience at Poway Hyundai and purchased the same vehicle that we were wanting at North County Hyundai that we were told was nowhere to be found in Hyundai's national inventory. Scott continued to send me emails and phone messages. I left a voicemail politely saying I already purchased a Hyundai and I am still getting emails(chain) as well as personal emails. As of three days ago I send another email to Scott politely asking him to take me off of all his emails. All I wanted was upfront pricing and not "playing dumb" when I asked a reasonable question. Thanks Poway Hyundai for treating my wife and I like people and with respect. North County Hyundai hugely unimpressed! That's my rant, take it or leave it!

I tried to contact them looking to lease Hyundai Palisade and like any customer asked for the best deal but the don t want to spend any effort to help and they immediately underestimated me and my request when they realize I do have an accent!!!!! They are looking purely for rich people ONLY .

My car had some noises and l took it to another place several times and they couldn't fix it. l tried it again in Carlsbad and Tom (adviser) checked it and found the problem and fix it. He is very professional person and really cares about customers. l really recomend lf your car has problem or lf you wanna get new car talk with Tom. l'm pretty sure he will help you and you will get the best advice from him.

Went here to purchase a vehicle for my daughter for her birthday, and was greeted by a younger salesman. I went to shake his hand and was met with a sweaty, greasy handshake. This was a major turn-off for me, but I continued on with the young salesman. He was extremely immature, and kept making sexual references in conjunction with the vehicles on the lot, saying things like "I would make love to the Genesis" and "The Veloster N is a ride your daughter wouldn't survive". He kept saying how much he can't wait to get his hands on a Veloster N. Well, I wouldn't let this salesman put his hands on anything, because they are greasier than most cheeseburgers I've ever eaten! I believe the salesman's name was "Perry" or "Pierre", not quite sure. Either way, I will not be returning to this dealership anytime soon.

The dealers outside key vendor shows up 20 mins late for 10am appt this a.m. "I cant make this key" he exclaimed! Too bad for me right! I have had some weird and crazy retorts from sales and service departments before but this one is absolutely nuts! I am still seething about this lack of service after the sale of this 2019 Santa Fe.

I had to bring my car in for a battery issue on a Saturday. I had no appointment but after testing my battery it was determined I needed a new one. I explained that I was driving up to central CA for a funeral and needed it taken care of ASAP. Travis, my service agent said he would talk to the service dept to see how long it would take to put in a new one. They said they could replace the battery within an hour and they did! I was so grateful for their kindness. I always bring my car here for servicing and will certainly continue to do so! Thanks again!

Brought my car in for a recall and everyone was great. I had an appointment later that day so I was a little worried about time but they were able to finish faster than they estimated, picked me up from work, and had my car washed and ready for me!

I will definitely be back for future services.

Poor scheduling practices in service department
I experienced multiple problems scheduling the recall repairs on my Elantra. I signed up online to schedule the work through the Hyundai USA web site and selected Bob Baker as the most convenient for me. The day before my scheduled appointment, I received a call from the Bob Baker service department telling me they had to reschedule because the system had assigned me to the express repair group and they needed to reassign me to the slower repair group. But I was assured that the repairs would not take more than one day. So I was surprised when I showed up on the morning of my appointment and Alexis Ramirez of the service department told me it could take 2 days. I advised him that I had been promised the repairs would be done in one day. Later in the day Alexis texted me to tell me that the car would not be ready until the next day. It turned out that the car sat there for 5 hours before they even started working on it. Alexis kept boasting to me that he was transparent about telling me it could take two days so it wasn t his fault. He didn t seem to realize, even though I explained it to him, that if the service department promises the work will be done in one day, and I schedule my other plans in reliance on that, it is up to him as a representative of the service department, to live up to the organization s commitment. Then, the next day, he texted me to tell me the car would be ready at 3 p.m. Then, at 1:45 in the afternoon, he texted me to tell me he had expedited things and it was ready. As if taking a day later than I was promised could be considered expedited ! I was about to leave to pick up the car in a few minutes anyway, because I knew it would take at least an hour to drive there, return the rental car, and get a ride to the dealership. It was as if Alexis was just repeating phrases from a script without any regard for reality because he wasn t smart enough to handle the situation properly. Based on this experience, I definitely would not purchase a car from Bob Baker.

Getting my 30K inspection was a piece of cake. The online scheduling was easy. The services they offer while you wait (rides and snacks at the service station waiting room) were helpful. The actual service (shout out to Ulysses) only took abut 5 hours with an added car wash was wonderful. It was so nice not to have to wait very long. I definitely had a great experience taking my car here for servicing!

He explained all the features my new car had available and helped me set up personal settings and paired my phone which gave me options I never was able to enjoy. Plus I think I got a killer deal. I recently moved from Yuma and asked if they would honor my unlimited tire rotations and oil changes package I got in Yuma. The receptionist looked up my information in the system and said yes they could honor it and scheduled me for an oil change and tire rotation Monday morning at 0700. I work overnights so I just went to the dealership after work. The place didn't open up till 0700 so I sat in my car for 30 minutes. I pulled up and handed over my keys and the rep looked me up in the system while his assistant put a paper mat down and plastic around the steering wheel. The rep then proceeded to tell that they couldn't do the oil change and tire rotation after all. Talk about a waste of time, plus in the 10 minutes I was there the assistant messed up all my interior settings and I had to spend 5 minutes putting everything back. Never going here again. Only thing they have going for them their fancy complimentary coffee machine.

Robert, the sales manager also gave me the best price on the vehicle, beating out all the other dealerships I've been to by a considerable amount. It was the best car buying experience I've had.

I drive from Escondido just to come here. I bought my car here and I'll always get it serviced here. They are friendly and they're lobby is nice and comfortable with a great coffee selection. They'll also shuttle you within 5 miles or so. I like that they don't pressure you into getting their added services.

Customer lounge was clean and tastefully outfitted. They even provided a complimentary car wash. Overall, it was an excellent experience. Highly recommend this dealership.

Would not purchase from dealership again because of high pressure finance department tactics.

Had a great experience with the sales rep, but not so great with the finance department. The lady that assisted with the paperwork put on more high sales pressure than the sales rep. An extended warranty was automatically added to purchase price without my knowledge and the lady couldn't exactly explain what the $2465 entailed. In addition, 'Low Jack' was installed for an addition $695, for which I asked that it be removed, because I did not want it.

When I questioned the added warranty charge and stated that it be removed it, I was told that if the car breaks down I would be out of luck, she also mentioned 'Murphy's Law'. I was also told that without the 'Low Jack' I would be out of a car and still owing on the bill. Everything negative came out of her mouth basically stating that if I did not include the warranty or theft system that I would be sorry! I did ask her was she a sales rep and a finance employee, she replied just a finance person. I was also forced to fill out an app for the dealership financing even though I was paying cash for the car.

Needless to say, I left the dealership happy that I did not purchase either the warranty nor the theft system and that high pressure tactics was a turn off and they've lost a future customer. I purchased a great car and got a great deal, but I would not purchase a car from this dealership ever again nor recommend any family or friends, simply because of this particular finance lady. After two hours of going back and forth, with finalizing the financing, my head was ready to explode and I just wanted to walk away.

Final note, a few weeks later I received a letter in the mail stating that the finance application I completed had been rejected. What? I paid cash and have a credit score in the 800's...how or why did I receive this letter.
Another example of high pressure sales tactic.

Wow! I just leased a new 2016 Hyundai Genesis from North County Hyundai, and this car is a dream to drive. First off, this dealership is family-owned, not owned by a big corporation, which I always prefer. I worked with Christian Alvarez, the Internet Manager, and Alex Peterson, the Internet Sales Manager. Both of these guys are true professionals in every sense of the word. They treated me with hospitality and professionalism from my very first interaction. The purchasing process was transparent, and I felt comfortable at this dealership throughout. I wish all my car buying experiences could be like the one I just had at North County Hyundai.

They gave me an insane deal on my new Genesis, and I could not have asked for more. Bottom line is this dealership deserves your business!

Extremely unhappy with this Hyundai location and the sales department. I've been a loyal Hyundai lease customer since 2012 and will not come back here after my last experience nor recommend it to anyone else. I came into this Hyundai in June to test drive some vehicles in preparation of my lease-end coming up in August. I found one I liked and of course, the salesman, Tom, wanted to do whatever he could to get me in the car ASAP (as normal salespeople do). I told him that in order for me to trade in my lease early, I wanted my monthly payment to be NO MORE than a specific amount per month and I did not want to be responsible for the last 2 payments on my existing lease which would total $600. That's a normal request when a dealership is trying to persuade you into trading in your lease early. Am I right?! I told him I was perfectly happy waiting another 2 months until my lease was up to get a new vehicle if they couldn't swing it. He first told me that his manager couldn't make that deal, so we left - no problem. I then get a call from Tom 15 minutes later essentially saying, great news - we can make it happen. So I schedule a time to come in a few days later to pick up the car in the color I requested. Everything went smoothly and we went on our merry way with the new car.

About two weeks later I open my bank account and see that the charge on my previous lease still went through. I immediately call Hyundai to let them know the payment for the previous lease went through for June and the 2nd one is still scheduled for July, and they needed to reverse it. The salesperson I worked with, Tom, proceeds to tell me "I was told that a discount was given to you in the amount covering those two remaining payments. I apologize for any misunderstanding." Excuse me? Giving us a "discount" (towards the cost of the new car) was NEVER discussed, nor agreed upon. My husband and I were both there and neither of us were ever told that. Even if that had been the case, if we were actually given a "discount" that should have equated into a slightly smaller monthly payment on the new car - but that wasn't so. I was so extremely clear that I did not want to be responsible for the last two payments on the existing lease because 1) I didn't have a problem waiting 2 more months until the lease-end to get another vehicle and 2) I didn't want to have to make a total of 4 car payments for 2 separate cars (totaling $1,310) within a 2 month time frame. I replied to Tom's email explaining this and never received a response back. If you're considering this Hyundai location, I suggest taking your business elsewhere.

Expect delays in service. I had an 11 am (one hour apt) of an oil change and wash. They took my car back at 11:45 after trying to upsale me for 45 mins. It's now 2:30 (three and a half hours later) and I'm still waiting. I've been here many times and they are late 50 percent of the time. However, the detail center invited me back that weekend to redo the detailing since it was incomplete. They did an excellent job the second time.

Asked for help yesterday please I need service I have a lag bolt in my tire. Service said we do not have anything for you until Monday at 730am. 6 days? Blowout on the 15 at the checkpoint with the 2 right lanes filled with trucks from the scales. I will not be back.
Update. Registration is past due North County Hyundai did not release the vehicle so now we have a late fee along with an hour and a half in dmv because they are short staffed and the finance manager does not have time she is on her popcorn break.

I didn't buy my car here. But I live in the area and have been bringing it here for service since it was new. All the service people have been great. They'll go over potential issues with me and let me decide what to fix when I want to. They've never been pushy. This is my first Hyundai, so I can only compare it to Toyota. Their pricing is beyond excellent. I've never had a dealership do service or repairs for such reasonable pricing. for instance, I used to get tires at Discount Tire. Now I just buy them at Hyundai, they have the better price. And they sent me a service discount card to make it even better. Love this place.

The service department is great here, they get you in and out, the waiting room is very very nice and the seating is comfortable. The service staff is super nice, I have not had a bad experience ever. If you have a Hyundai this is the best local place for service

Really enjoyed my experience at Bob Baker Hyundai.
This was the first time bringing in my car to have warranty work completed and my first time at Bob Baker Hyundai. Was met in the drive by the advisor Tom/Tim who took note of all my concerns. He was able to trouble shoot my "user error" problems and solve them on the drive which meant that it never made it to the work order or put in front of the tech = wasting tech time. I also had a copy of my work order emailed to me while I was still in the drive. I work in the automotive and RV business and can really appreciate the value in both of these aspects. I was kept up to date on the progress of diagnosis and repair. Great customer service all the way around!

Ullysis not only tell me he couldn't fix the problem because the management left him with a skeleton crew that can't spend to much time on 1 car even though it has a problem and effects the driving mind u my car is still under their 60000 miles warranty . When I called before arriving they said an hour or two and in here going on 4 hours and I complained right after I sit back down I see them finally pull me car in the mechanic stall and Ullysis came back out saying he has it in now should be 30 mins or less but I have had to wait Herr for almost 4 hours and still have to come back next week because of Hyundai being ill prepared in servicing on a Saturday

Ulysses was a great service provider.
However, I am very disappointed in Gillian, the service department director, and how my service was provided. My car, due to the mechanic s lack of attention, could have had a complete engine block crack. This could have cost me an entire new engine or a new car. Luckily, it wasn t. However, for Gillian, all I asked was 50% of the amount I paid for and a free detail as compensation for almost costing me a new car. That was not accepted. I believe, for what I have been through, that was more than fair. Instead I was told I m getting 25% of what I paid for and a detail. I m completely disappointed and upset. Ulysses, as nice and accommodating as he was, shouldn t have to play middle man between Gillian and I. Gillian should handled my service the entire time.
I am completely disappointed and upset and I will not be coming back to the Carlsbad Hyundai.

I brought my car in for a safety inspection and to get recalls taken care of. I was told after the safety inspection that I would need a new battery cable and sleeve because of corrosion. This was going to cost almost $900. So, I took my car to a local mechanic and had it checked. The cable was not corroded inside the lining as I was told and the mechanic cleaned it up for less than $100. The misrepresentation is frustrating.
Ulysses, the service representative was very pleasant, helpful, and accommodating. His customer service was wonderful!

These guys are the biggest p***** I've ever had to deal with I was there 15 minutes walking around And this guy walks up and asks if I've been helped and I said no and he said well I Just got here as if I offended him by saying no like I had been waiting then he went on to tell me how hes been doing this for a long time and he knows everything so I just left then I call back to complain to the sales manager and he was an a****** to all they could say was what kind of car do you wanna buy what kind of car do you wanna buy when I asked who was in charge I'd expect that arrogance from a high end dealer like BMW or Mercedes but not hyundai of Carlsbad.

I was in need of a new Jay mobile. Old ride had 112,000 miles and I drive a lot!! I built my credit over the past few years and was ready. Might I say my credit was definitely not perfect yet. Catherine went over my credit report and saw how I paid everything off. She looked at me as a person and not a number. Hyundai financed my new 2018 Hyundai Kona! I love it!!

Esan is a friendly and honorable salesman. He was not pushy and we loved talking to each other. He took my on my test drive in where I fell in love with my ride and the dealership.

Thank you all for your help and I will always get my cars from you.

Service department is poorly managed. Appointments set out two to three weeks at a time even if you are returning for the same repair that they didn't fix the first couple of visits. If you plan to service your vehicle here make lots of days and time on your schedule available. The first appointment I had for my current repair issue, they had the car all day, which meant that I didn't, and then they called to say they never got to it. Your time and convenience is of no concern to them. Hopefully, after several trips to the dealership and several months or weeks go by due to the lack of available appointments that your vehicle will finally be repaired. Bob Baker does not appear to be interested in good customer service in his service department. I'm surprised that Hyundai allows it.

This was the best experience I have ever had buying a car. I did not feel the typical pressure that you dread when going to the dealership. Amy made this process so easy, and did everything she could to take care of us. I had no buyers remorse after this purchase. Also Lucas was the best in the finance department, he explained everything so I could understand. This was the best experience all around, and I am so in love with my car!

I sat on writing this review for a bit but now I've decided to share my experience. Customer service and buying process started out as decent. I visited a few other Bob baker dealers and they were subpar experience wise Hyundai is generally OK but it's their after care and customer service after the sale that sucks. I've had multiple calls in to the dealer about issues with the car and almost no calls back and lackluster after service.

I do buy cars reasonably often but I'm never buying here again.
