The restaurant is beautiful. Several places there to eat x fireplaces. Several rooms. The staff are all professional. But the highlight of the evening was Terry Ryan playing in the piano bar. What a treat!!! He us so entertaining. Has his own folliwing. The best.

An incredible area institution. My family has been coming here since before I can remember, and there's truly nothing like it in the DC area. The Sunday brunch is its most distinctive feature. An all-you-can-eat buffet blends french favorites (like green beans almondine, roast beef, and stroganoffs) with lighter lunchtime fare (a variety of different pasta and bean based salads, fish) and traditional breakfast items (an omelette bar, bacon, eggs benedict) for a unique variety not seen much in the area. Service is classic and prompt, and the entire staff is friendly. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, like stepping into a French country house. Highly recommend.

Incredible food, excellent wine selections, and a charming atmosphere. Lots of room in the separate bar (featuring live music), dining area, and ballroom/event area. Very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly staff.

The menu features items that you could expect to be prepared in the French countryside, but also delivers seafood favorites like crab cakes, mahi mahi, swordfish, salmon, and lobster. Offered desserts complete the evening. Chocolate ones are silky and very chocolatey. Gelato and cheesecakes cleanse your pallet and are not over-sweetened like most places. Appetizers range from $8-18 and entrees range from $22-38.

I brought my family here for brunch. What a mistake.
The Food: You can tell that they're trying but much of the food was slimy or just not that appetizing.

The Restaurant: It was very noisy. Kids ran around screaming to boot. If you look up you'll notice how much dust is floating around in this place. The decor looks like a stuffy old lodge from Caddy Shack.

The pricing: $240 for 4 people. No alcohol. I wouldn't mind the price if, but for that amount I would expect FAR better quality. Seriously, just go to Founding Farmers and call it a day.

This place is very offputting when you walk in. There is a weird(not food) smell. The restaurant is almost completely carpeted. The bathrooms are not handicap accessible and look like they were made for an elementary school. It also looks like it hasn't been updated in a few decades. Also I got a bit offended because the hosts were making very racist jokes about customers as they were walking into the establishment. The food looks and smells amazing and some of the staff were very nice.

I've gone here the past few years with my son for their Easter brunch buffet. They have a huge spread of salads, veggies, meats and desserts. It's very busy so you need reservations. The service this year was just OK.

Our first visit here in a decade, and it was pretty much as we remembered it - uninspired food, good ambiance and service. Onion soup was pale and very salty with too much cheese. Lobster bisque tasted canned. Salmon stuffed with crabmeat was, until drowned with sauce, dry and somewhat bland. Trout was also somewhat bland - large quantities of lemon helped. Apple dessert was very good, as was the chocolate lava cake, but both seemed as if they'd been commercially produced, not homemade. All in all, there are much better restaurants in the area, especially for the rather high prices.

Good restaurant and good food but seriously WTF came here for a business dinner nicely dressed as professionals and got carded in our mid 30s for wine in a restaurant where no one under 21 can afford and mind you no one has asked us for id for alcohol even at Applebee s for years but this place seriously just for that reason I m done here.

I was invited to a fundraiser dinner and the servers were not very knowledgeable about what was gluten free. One of the chefs came out and told me only the salad and fruit were safe. My gluten-eating friends said the dessert wasn't good.

Normandie Farms is a great place for food and music. The music is fantastic. The open mic signers are great. The quiche is excellent. The scallops are awesome, and the potato skins make for a great bar snack. Cary and his crew do a wonderful job creating a terrific ambiance and and fabulous dining experience.

Any meat we ordered was undercooked (who would want to eat a medium rare pork?). The service was not great either, distracted server, manager was rude and unprofessional. The pop over is always good but would not want to pay such price for that quality of food. Felt sick after eating it.

This is our family go to on a tired weekend. Popovers still succulent. We enjoy most of what is served. Unfortunately most of our food was cold that included meats. My family thinks I should have given this restaurant 2 Stars for such an egregious oversight! My vegan brother was able to get a special batch of potatoes. We thank them for that accommodation. The service was good and we enjoyed the company of the staff on a New Year's Day brunch. I do wish they made at least a million dollar upgrade. So much can be done with this property it has potential as the only show in town. There are ways to redo the decor whilst keeping the rustic beams and historical integrity of the famous Potomac restaurant. Carpets, dining chairs --the entrance for the wheelchair ramps ( especially indoors!) all need to be redone. New serving utencils and sternos need to be purchased. They served cold eggs Benedict.

Normandy farm is a traditional sit down restaurant with a pub-style bar. I especially enjoy the entertainment they have on Friday nights. While some may consider the decor dated, it is much like an old tavern or clubhouse. Dinner service is white table cloth and classy. I have never had a bad meal at Normandy. They start out dinners with their signature popovers with butter and jam - these are outstanding - and they have a full menu with specials. The kitchen can accommodate dietary restrictions, but call ahead if you have questions.
The dining area is large, and can accommodate an affair or large party. In the summer they have outdoor seating, which is very nice.
If you just want a quick bite, the bar has a good menu, and serves the full dinner menu.
There is handicapped parking, although there are some steps inside.

We went to Normandie Farm for my wife s birthday lunch. The service was superb. This is a nice rustic French restaurant with a quiet fireside dining experience. Tony was a really great server. His knowledge of the menu was very helpful in deciding what to order. The wine service was nice and the crumb sweeping added an elegant touch. The food was terrific and the service was top notch. A definite recommendation for a special romantic occasion.

A very nice setting French style seafood restaurant.

It is a plain-looking house off Falls Road. The inside looks elegant and classic.

The waiters who served us is well-trained and humorous. He recommended Maryland Blue Crab Soup, which is today s chef special. It tastes really good! Big lumps of crab meat at the bottom of soup.

Crab cake is very tasty but not salty, just like what I expected. However, the fries is even better! I even think the fries is the highlight of this entree.

The other two entrees my friends ordered, roasted sea scallops and seared filet of salmon, my friends said both of them are 4.5 out 5. Highly recommended.

Very good experience!

Don't go here for thanksgiving. Made reservation for 5pm today. It's 5:17 and we are standing in not a line but a horde of people all trying to get in. Do they not know how many reservations that have and how to manage tables. It's not so much the time as being forced to stand in a mindless mass of zombie humans. Obviously I will not be back here.

Total waste of money. I took a few people to the brunch on Sunday the 23rd for my mother's birthday. She drives past the restaurant every day and wanted to try it. The food was not even mediocre. It was not cooked fresh. The beef stroganoff was served with saffron rice.... The beef was chewy. I was not even able to cut through the top round and it chewed like beef jerky. The veal Marsala was chewy. How do you screw up veil? It tasted like they took the same gravy for the stroganoff and added a little Marsala to it. The Eggs Benedict had soggy English muffins and the hollandaise sauce was cold with a film over the top because it was sitting for so long. The pancakes and waffles were not made to order as the website states. I honestly felt like I went to a buffet at an all inclusive restaurant in the Caribbean and the theme was "french/american". 4 people came to $150 plus we gave a $20 tip to the waitress. I know its a buffet but at $36 a plate I expect the food to be close to what you would serve at a dinner. If I received any of those items at your full menu price I would have simply got up and walked out the door without complaining. I'm honestly shocked at how bad the food was. I actually called my bank to see if I could cancel my credit card charges,,,, it was that bad.

Lovely little old-style farm restaurant famous for its popovers, a delightful doughy confection that everyone should try at least once. An institution of the Maryland dining scene for decades that deserves its reputation.

I'm sorry to report that our experience here was not pleasant. My husband and I reserved this dinner for a special occasion and planned it months in advance. We had such high hopes and were sorely disappointed. The food was completely bland, not just one or two items, but everything each person at the table ordered! We spent $200 on 3 adults and a child, which I don't mind doing when the food is good, but this food was completely sub-par. Just on my dinner plate alone, the scallops I had were cooked perfectly but had no seasoning and the mashed sweet potatoes literally had nothing in it- no butter, no salt, nothing- but what it did have (to make it look fancy?) was a potato chip sticking out of the sweet potato mash that was so stale I could bend it without breaking it. I am so disappointed and embarrassed, I hope this review saves others the trouble and money.

Always one of my favorite places to come for special occasions with my grandparents. They have kept up the atmosphere well, it really feels like it is out of another era. The pop overs are the best part.

We just had our wedding rehearsal dinner here tonight. All the servers were very friendly and helpful. We had a big group and all courses were handled well. I think I mainly spoke to Mike and Tony. They did a great job! And the food of course was excellent. We got a lot of compliments from our guests about the food and the decor.

A great place to celebrate a special occasion. Fine dining in an elegant atmosphere. Extensive weekend brunch is not to be missed. And of course, there are the famous popovers (eat 'em while they are hot, and don't skimp on the butter!). Excellent service. I recommend getting a reservation.

Very nice family restaurant in Potomac, Maryland....

Very nice family restaurant in Potomac, Maryland. Little bit hard to find at night, coming from Virginia side of the Beltway. River Road and Falls Road are not well lit, but the GPS saves the day. Free parking in front, and the dining room is spacious and lots of big, round tables for families and friends. The food selection is great, enough to satisfy most appetites. And the prices are reasonable. The Crab Imperial was nicely prepared, with broccolini and bake potatoe. The Clams Casino and Twin Lobster Tails were very good also. The Lamb Chops were good, but the Oyster Rockefeller was a bit overdone and dry for my taste. The service was excellent and fast.

This is a restaurant that secretly charges more than you agree to pay. Over a month ago we had Sunday brunch there. I paid the bill and added the tip to make the total amount an even number. However, after the credit card statement came a few days later, I noticed the payment for Normandie Farms was not an even number. I retrieved a copy of the receipt and found the payment showing on the credit card statement was more than the amount on my signed bill. In other words, this restaurant overcharged me. I immediately called the restaurant and the manager there pretended to be shocked and said he was going to investigate this matter. But of course he didn't and I have never heard from him since. I disputed the charge through my credit card company and they refunded me the difference. Now, everyone, if you dare to dine at Normandie Farm, please retain a receipt and remember the amount you agree to pay. Check your credit card statement and make sure they have not overcharged you. This place is a total FRAUD and I will never go there anymore. BTW, they use a very strong and stinky detergent to wash their seat cover and table cloth. After going home, the strong stinky odor from the table/seat cover lives in our clothes for days until we completely washed our clothes. How disgusting!

IT'S A DIGNIFIED AND LOVELY PLACE TO HOLD BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR A LOVELY FARMER MEMBER, A FRIEND, OR A SPOUSE. THE PLACE IS NEAT LOTS OF PARKING SPACES, LOVELY FOOD AND WINE. THE WAITERS ARE HELPFUL AND CURTIOUS.

My family and I have been coming here for years for our large family celebrations. Over 20 years I don't think much has changed. As you enter, you get this feeling of being in an old rusty attic. A lot of dark wood pillars. They used to have a huge dust problem. The sunlight from the skylight would shine down on your table and you'd see dust swaying as your dining. Thank goodness they must've recently installed a new ventilation system that sucks all that excess dust out.

Now on to the brunch food. I'd prol rate it 3/5. Everything felt like it was missing something. Pancakes and waffles are made then stored in a well covered metal steel container so when you try to crack that crispy waffle its all soggy and not very appetizing. Beef bolognese was cooked very well, but it does not come with noodles instead rice. Their soup du jour is usually a cream of mushroom soup with too many table spoons of salt. Highlights of our meal were definitely the salad and fruit bar. Everything from the kale, tomato to pasta salad. All were very fresh and you can tell recently prepared. Fruit bar has pineapple, watermelon, and winter melon. A chef was always present at the lox station. Carefully carving beautifully sliced pieces of fish. All the meats were delicious and cooked well. There is turkey bacon, sausage, veal, and country ham. I stayed away from all the baked pastries and goods. Many of my family members said they were stale. Always remember to save your stomach for their deserts. They have a nice assortment of sweets from key lime pie, chocolate cake, to creme brulee.

In conclusion, this is a brunch buffet location you will always leave full. But wondering why you spent over $30. Food is always lacking something. Having a lot of French family members in our party they kept mentioning how the cuisine was a poor attempt of French flavors. Service is consistently great here. Setting a reservation and seated in less than 5 minutes is never a problem. If your in the area looking for other options I'd recommend the Marriott hotel right by Mall. Its their headquarters location so you know they will always be setting the bar. Also Sugo in Potomac. Their menu is always changing and innovating something Normandie may need to start doing.

The most uncomfortable chairs you have ever sat on! The brunch buffet is impressive, good variety and we'll prepared, but you need to have a good appetite to justify the prices they charge.

Wife and I went for birthday outing, French lodge decor authentic and original (they've been there since 1931): dark wood, fireplaces, very romantic. Service impeccable and friendly. I had beef Wellington: tender beef, delicious crust, perfect. Coq au vin for my wife was disappointing, but the overall evening was a great success. Would recommend for others to try!

Great food, friendly staff and fun entertainment... The facilities, while cozy and adequate, could use a bit of a refresh but that is planned for the next few months at which time it would be hard to find any fault whatsoever. There's a great reason why restaurants stay in business for decades and this is a prime example of how to do things right.
