Love this place. Go to for shots . Don't mind wait...

Love this place. Go to for shots . Don't mind waiting a little longer to safe money
Because you are always willing to go the extra way to help us with our dog family doctor
Good service while you're there, but hard to contact to get an appointment or medicine refill.
Great place for your pets and to get their shots. BUT, You better talk on your cell phone in the car or one of the people that work in there will call the police on you saying you're going to "shoot up the animal shelter". It was not good to have the police walk by your car with his gun drawn, pointing it at a person, over someone eavesdropping on that person's conversation and misconstruing what was said in that phone conversation and having this incident happen. Norfolk SPCA only get the 3 stars for their services, not the people that work in there.
They've always taken really good care of all my puppies!
They took great care of my two cats at the walk-in vaccination clinic, friendly staff.
Great place,no kill shelter which is awesome. They stay busy so volunteers would be helpful.
Very friendly and informative. Place was clean and dogs looked well taken care of
I love that we dont have to pay a huge amount of money to keep our dogs up to date on their vaccines. Thank you Norfolk SPCA
This place is seriously horrible. Nothing but a bad experience.
Staff really seem to be passionate about the animals. Hectic on weekends with long wait times, but staff is always pleasant.
They do an amazing job with the animals thank God they're there for them
Amazing people with incredible patience. The prices for services cannot be beat. I highly suggest supporting this no kill shelter
Wonderful service to the community at much lower cost than other places.
If you love your animal this definitely the place to take them, and the prices for the service is awesome .Being how I m a single parent when I take my puppy here it s something I can definitely afford to pay... ooh your definitely gonna wait but it okay the staff great In plus you get to meet other dog owners now that parking it s not the best !!! But it s manageable...
Great place to go to get your pets what they need (ie; shots) for a very low price/very affordable and very friendly and caring staff
Friendly staff, but will not let you adopt if you have an unfixed pet, even though they require all adoptions to be fixed!
Great staff very knowledgeable about each animal. Clean kept so was the animals.
I ve never had better Veterinairy care anywhere regardless of the price! Great caring people.
Waited 2 hours for for routine vaccinations for my dog. The front office staff were awful.
Curteous people, love the place. Get to meet lots of beautiful dogs & owners
Super rude pushy and judgmental I walked away for a quick minute and they were talking bad about me to my friend. Also they throw a $300 deposit out of no where when the adoption fee is $125 don t go to this one!!
I have been filling out request forms and calling their provided phone number for over a week and still haven't heard anything back. I would really love to have my cat's shots and neuter done here but seems like I'll have to go somewhere else.
Amazing prices in vaccines and very good care for animals
The staff was very friendly and seem genuinely interested in the well being of their four legged patients. My dog was seen by the vet and I got all his meds there .
They were nice and took care of our dog at an affordable price
Always friendly and nice staffing is great and friendly
My rabbit had a nueter here and they only charged 75$ which is a lot cheaper than the usual 300$ from private vets. He's already back to himself after 3 days and I feel like the SPCA is the one to thank. Amazing place!
I went there to donate items from my cat who recently passed away. ..it was very busy and the people there waiting with their pets didn't seem to mind waiting.
The wait is usually long, but the service is friendly and the prices are beyond fair.
I should give a one star review. The only reason I'm really giving this place any stars is because there are so many loving animals there who need a home. The woman who took us into the room felt like a second shadow, and she would barely let me and my husband see which cats we bonded with. She also kept trying to "sell" every single cat to us and frequently made some rather rude comments to us. We really felt the pressure trying to adopt every cat even though we made out needs (and the rules of our lease) very clear. After we finally found one we were ready to adopt, the paperwork process went fairly smooth. However even though he was chipped, they gave me the wrong login information to update the address. They also misspelled my name, my email, and my address even though they had it all in writing when I filled out the forms. They also wrote down arbitrary dates (like my cat's birthday) even though they had paperwork from his previous owner which showed his actual date of birth from a vet (about a 7 month difference). As if we couldn't hit any more bumps, our cat we brought home had an upper respiratory infection, and ended up giving it to our other cat. So after the adoption fee, microchip fee, and vet fees, we finally have another cat.
Again, I'm giving this place stars because there are do many sweet animals who need a loving home and I'd hate to see the animals stuck there (or worse). But I wouldn't trust these guys with much more than adopting, and I'd immediately take them to a vet. They really need to get it together.
Take my dogs there to get their shots. Great staff handle a really stressful busy lobby well. Lulu is leash aggressive so they allowed me to sit in a room with her until they could get her shots done. She ended up falling asleep.
I d give 0 stars if I could. Absolutely terrible experience. The one in VB is light years better. At r two days of paperwork and calling off work so my entire family could come see the puppy, the SPCA told us it wouldn t be a good fit. They wasted our time and money completely just to say no in the end. Please do not go here. I promise you the VB one has better staff and service.
I had good experience there so far. Just dont like i call everyday and noone answers the phone & i leave a message and noone ever calls back. I might have to switch vets.
Good place to adopt, but would recommend Acredale Animal Hospital for care.
I like they have walk ins during the week and the staff were great
I am forever grateful for the affordable services Norfolk SPCA provides for our community. I recommend doing your own research on what you need done before you go, as it is usually very busy and the staff don't have much time to explain or hear out your needs and questions.
Cheaper than most. Great staff. Building is outdated and grungy.
They treated me real nice , Lisa's daughter daughter was very kind to me and my dog, she was very helpfull and explained everything to me. It is nice to go into a business and be treated like a human being. Thanks for everything.
I'd prefer dis location over Virginia Beach cus VB is awful & dey employee's are extremely rude.
I have been using the SPCA for numerous years. Too many to count. As a single parent for many of those years, but also an avid lover of fur babies, I wanted the best care for my fur babies, but prices that would not take food from our table! The SPCA has done many many good things over the years for my family, my bank account, and for our furbabies. I always know I can get great service, and great prices so I don't have to neglect my pets because I dont have the money to take them to see the doctor, or get their immunizations. Yes, sometimes you have a long wait, and yes sometimes you get less than warm and fuzzy at the front counter, but wake up people..thats anywhere you go! Over the years I would say 85% of the time, I was treated with a smile, laughter, comments on my fur babies, and respect. Thats more than I receive other places I go for services. They are doing an amazing beautiful thing for the community, for families who dont have a lot of extra income, and for the fur babies! I can't understand why people complain about something that's so good for everyone! You should feel blessed to have such a services. the SPCA in Virginia Beach is income driven! If Norfolk went to that, many of you wouldn't have to worry about complaining about NORFOLK SPCA anymore! So keep your vile comments to your self, and look around before you complain to see if they are just super busy and doing their best!
I recommend Norfolk SPCA for the shot clinic. I have been taking my dogs there for years and NEVER have had one issue. My dogs are both special needs and have separation anxiety. After visiting a few times they go right back with them now. I feel very comfortable taking them here for their walk-in clinic services. Also, the prices are unbeatable. They really go above and beyond making it easy to take care of your pet properly without declaring bankruptcy. Thank you for all your wonderful services offered to the general public. I REALLY appreciate you guys and always tell people about you.
I adopted a cat from them they was friendly and they do ask many questions
It's great for my Mossberg and it's affordable Place and I just love it
I truly love this place. Vb spca is way too expensive. So i thank you for your lower prices for the exact same thing. I will always bring my dogs to you for care. Thank you for caring about people, along with our pets.
I prefer this location to the one in Va Beach! They truly care for the animals here. The va beach location will charge you $350 for a dog that has heart worms and are abusive to the animals.
Got everything for my Dog 1 /2 what i pay at the vet.
Only 10. For a vet check..thank you!
The staff I came into contact with were extremely compassionate and invested in the welfare of the animals under their care.
Great website wish you had more bunnies but you guys are awesome anyway!!!!
I went in with my husband, looking for a smaller dog. We found the perfect one, all we had to do was a meet and greet with our other pup. They close at 4:00 and it was about 3:30 when we left to come back the next day with our dog. We were told to come back, we were the only applicants for this dog. Literally came back as soon as it opened and they told us he had already been adopted.... I wanted that dog, I put in an application for the dog, did everything I had to do and they tell me that they don't "hold" animals. Mind you, we were told that we were the only ones. Anyways not going back.
The services were ok, some staff were more friendly than others. Also on his record it says that my dog is a chihuahua however he looks like a Jack Russell. Nevertheless I love him to death and he's already spoiled
Reading the comments it seems a lot of the experiences people had were off, but I think this is a good shelter. We are in the process of adopting a dog from them and so far all is well. The dog had heartworms when she was sent there, but they covered her treatment and will treat any problems until she has her last check up in a few months. The price ($150) is a LOT cheaper than some places I've been and considering all shots are done as well as spaying and heartworm prevention its a really good deal. the staff was really nice to us and they definitly care about the animals.
Needs to modernize, but the people do a great job at prices I can afford. govt. Please allocate more funding to this location.
Nice folks, very clean, well maintained & organized. The animals looked pretty satisfied. Staff was great and helpful. We adopted 2 cat brothers who were bonded. We got the two at a discount.
It was so easy to drop off our donation! Thank you guys for all the hard work you do!!
I adopted one of my pups, Panda, from this location years ago and the experience was memorable to say the least. I think about them every time I look at my little girl. She was part of an abandoned litter that was plagued with Parvo. Carrie, one of the NSPCA volunteers, fostered her until her quarantine period ended. All of the staff members were good-hearted and very supportive...they made the entire process easy! I recommend the Norfolk SPCA to anyone looking to adopt a pet.
Love the work they do. I adopted all three of my boys from there.
Staff is wonderful Lulu loves coming in there everybody's great doctors everybody I'm so blessed to be able to come thank you for all y'all do love the director and all these little dogs coming out to go potty
Do not go to this SPCA!! I had to get shots for my doberman. I brought my two little girls with me. The put us in a back room so that we would be more comfortable which I thought was really nice but then they forgot abut us!! An hour and 15 min later I go to the front desk to ask when we will be seen and they were scrambling to figure out who were were and where we were in line. Then told us the vets were out to lunch and it would be another hour before we would be seen. They had no remorse that we had already been there for over an hour. My poor dog and kids. I knew my dog was ready to get out of there. Take a longer drive and go to a different SPCA in the area. That's my recommendation.
The most unprofessional and unorganized and outright outrageous experience I ve ever had. We placed a deposit down on a dog and they confused us with someone else almost causing us to lose our dog and causing tons of drama between parties!! Absolutely ridiculous!!
I went here to volunteer and they are an unorganized mess.
I adopted 2 from this shelter 21 years ago and now I'm looking for another puppy or something about 1 1/2 to 2 years old. I just lost my girl after 13 years human years 91 in dog years. We had her since she was 6 weeks old
They were really friendly. Very knowledgeable on the animals
Love this place. They really care about our 4 legged family members
Horrible people. They act like they want to help your cat or dog but they re really just all about the money!!!!!
Super sweet people and they let me play with the cats.. they're so friendly and kind to the animals. I love to visit and donate when I have the time.
Very educated staff had a blast taking my daughter there to see the kittens
I don't do reviews, but I definitely think this is necessary.
I took my 9 Month Old Yorkie here to get neutered. A week later he had this cough. Come to find out it's Kennel Cough. I had a VERY healthy Yorkie, and now I have to go out my way to pay a vet to get him better.
The people at the front counter are very rude and unorganized when it comes to dealing with paperwork, etc.
I would not recommend anyone to go here for clinic services.
They stole my friends cat. They came in to claim them with pictures and spca refused to hand over as a family was interested in him. They do not care about animals, just money. Do not support this business.
Well the place could use some cleaning far as the urine smell, it's the first thing that hits ya when you open those doors to where the dogs are. Besides that it was pretty clean, people were nice and ready to answer your questions. Think I will be adopting a pet from there soon.
The customer service wasn t very good for my personal experience. It took 45 minutes to find adoption paper work for the rabbit I wanted to adopt. Not only did it take a while to find the paperwork to fill out for adoption, I was denied the opportunity to adopt a rabbit. My rabbit passed away 4 months ago and after therapy sessions and long conversation last with my parents I was finally ready to adopt another fur baby. Rather than them asking me what my experience was with rabbit or asking me how was my relationship with my first rabbit I was told to do more research on rabbits before wanting to adopt. My rabbit was my best friend we spent almost every second of the day together. I trained him to walk on his hind legs, he learned to ring a bell when it was time for him to eat and he learned to stop chewing chords. I adopted a rabbit with a behavioral issue and within the first 6 months of owning him his attitude completely changed he just needed someone to love him and I loved him. Being told that I wasn t allowed to adopt when I am ready to love a furry friend was devastating and inconsiderate after sharing that my last rabbit passed. He passed of old age and it was confirmed by his vet that it was old age. This place has caused emotional doubt for me after therapy encouraged me to get back out there and adopt again. Did you all consider that the adopter may be lonely and want a pet for companionship because social interaction is difficult ? I guess not
