Adopted a puppy and was told it was a small breed dog. Did the DNA and its a lab, Rottweiler, German shepard mix. Good thing we have the room for a medium/large breed dog.

Rescue a pet today the AWA is a great place to do so friendly staff and good selection
As always, my little fireball Yorki lights up the room with his nonstop chatter when we are there for an exam or shots. I guess he was excited because there were so many new friends, scents, and places to explore. This is not my first time here. I keep returning because I like how they take care of my four legged fur baby with each visit. Overall, they seemed to have genuine people working at this facility who care and are very patient, even with talkative busy bee guests. They have a very organized system of moving people in and out quickly for vaccinations and they don't try to talk you into more services than you need. Great place doing great things.
You can tell the staff really cares about the animals.
We went to the clinic with our puppy to get his first shots. Everything went well and we ended up returning the same day because we saw worms in his feces. We dropped off the stool sample (on October 10th) and were told we would hear back in a day with results.
On October 11th we received no call so we waited and then called. No answer. We called the following week and were told the vet had to leave for an emergency but still not status update. We kept calling and calling and got nothing. Finally, in the first week of NOVEMBER (3 weeks later) we went there to confront them and they ended up telling us there were no worms and said no news is good news. Absolutely horrible. The dog still has worms as we see them moving in his feces when he goes. STAY AWAY.
They do help people in need with dog and cat food if you need it.
The staff and volunteers are very nice and caring. They take great care of the animals.
Usually a little wait but that's to be expected! This was always my go to clinic because of price and the employees are so nice. However, the end of March i had my cat neutered there and he was not doing well and the soonest emergency appt they could give me, was over a week a way and very unsympathetic toward the entire situation. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Still giving 4 stars for all the years of exceptional service
They're doing very well with keeping the whole place clean. They do everything to take care of the animals
Well organized and clean place. They provide several inexpensive services but no one answers the phone at the pet clinic. You have to make an appointment on line or in person.
Just adopted a three year male old cat here a few days ago and he is such a lover of hugs and petting. The process was easy and smooth after he was picked. You get to spend some time with other cats as well to see which one may be the best fit. The adoption fee for cats over six months is $80 and under six months is $100. He is a great addition to my home. Please adopt an animal. They all deserve forever homes with loving families.
I wanted to leave my review on their vet clinic. We adopted a beautiful kitten from the VAO and they had the AWA look at Bailey( who was once Chloe) The AWA misdiagnosed her with Pectus Excavatum. In there words the worse case they ever seen. I was told Bailey was going to have an extremely short life. Well the AWA was wrong!!! I got xrays to see how severe her condition was, and she didn't have that P.E. In fact , Bailey has had 3 x-rays and not one of them showed up with Pectus Excavatum. Even though, they were completely wrong, I wasn't upset. However, i called the vet clinic, and told them I would like to have her spayed, since Bailey would have been spayed as part of her adoption fee. They didn't spay her because they were wrong with her diagnosis. I was told they will not touch Bailey to go somewhere else. Bailey deserved to have a great start in life, and wasn't given that opportunity, because of the irresponsible vet who misdiagnosed her. They also turned there backs on her, which to me makes them not true animal lovers. I found a clinic who will be spaying her. She has had blood work and everything came out fine. They saw a sick kitten, who they wanted no part of. I would never bring another animal to there clinic. They don't even deserve one star!!!
Highly recommend using this no kill shelter for your next dog
Well run, very friendly and helpful staff. Saves me tons of money, too. Love this place!
I fell in love with the pet I've adopted. Well organized place. Very informative.
This is a wonderful no-kill shelter which works hard to provide for the animals in their care. They can always use help volunteering and fostering the animals there.
Lot of beautiful dogs Saturday morning at the clinic
Two years ago we had the best experience adopting our dog from the AWA. Today we brought our dog to the clinic for the 4th time and had the worst experience ever thanks to Dr. Emily Seidl and clinic supervisor Danielle Ready. My dog needed blood drawn for his heart worm medicine. During previous visits they had me go back with my dog for the process to go a little smoother, for EVERYONE, yet this time Dr Emily Seidl denied that opportunity. They had no problem with me helping to muzzle my dog but not stand by his side like I have during previous visits. They then denied me the opportunity to help and told us to go to a vet with no sympathy whatsoever. They made us feel worthless like our dog, who came from there, was meaningless to them. So we were denied their services after patiently waiting for an hr and a half with our dog shaking non stop, bleeding all over his front leg, and bad anal excretion all over the back of my truck which I am now at the car wash having to get it detailed. Of course this was after taking my dog to get a bath due to that smell that we have never experienced so horribly. Dog express their anal glands due to stress and being scared, thanks to Dr Seidl and supervisor Danielle Ready, we now know that....and how hard it is to get out of leather seats. The level of unprofessionalism and lack of caring we experienced today makes it beyond easy to never go back there. We really wanted to do everything with the AWA because we thought they knew our dog and cared about our dog, but we were mistaken. It s either that or we chose to bring our dog on a day that Dr Seidl and supervisor Danielle Ready just didn t put any of their heart or skills into their job. Thank you for allowing us to see the AWA s true colors.
Amazing animal shelter, the kennels are clean and the dogs all wag their tails. On the numerous occasions I have visited the shelter, they are constantly walking the dogs and checking to make sure they're happy. Also checking on anyone visiting the dogs if they want to meet the dog one on one outside or fill out an application. The signs on kennels are very helpful on describing the dog's personality and past. The cats almost always have a volunteer playing with them! The vet section is another wonder all on it's own. With affordable prices on neutering/spaying and vaccines, I always take my pets to AWA for the friendly service. Recently adopted a dog from the shelter, he is super sweet and playing well with the other dogs, a perfect new addition to the family and a ESA for sure! Can't wait to visit again.
Fantastic organization that cares deeply about the pets that they shelter until they are adopted. Definitely the best place in the area if you are looking for a new pet for your home. We got our dog here two years ago and never looked back. These guys do great work!
Will never go back. My family and I liked a dog. My kids were a bit scared but they are only 2 and 5. First, I didn't realize I was being "interviewed". That's pretty funny on its own. But I really can't believe an interviewer would say that if a dog bit a child it would be the adults fault for not paying attention and it is a cause for concern for the dog. That is a big blanket statement to make. I am sure its true in many cases but you can't say that so confidently when we are speaking about an animal. It's actually irresponsible to say that. And I can't believe an interviewer would say that its not healthy for a dog to be around kids that are scared. What my kids feel is my priority and it will take a little bit of time for them to get used to the animal. I love dogs and love cats and they've always been well taken care of by me and my family. Like most people, I have cried for weeks when I've lost pets to illness. But the overly formal interview process is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever encountered. I am 100% for an animal being in a good loving situation for both the animal and the adopting person or family. Otherwise what's the point? But I can't go for the hippie attitude where the equate the animal to a human. They will never be at that level with my children. That is the sense you get there and it seems to be the expectation though they don't say it explicitly. It would be nice to see this sort of thoroughness (without the ridiculous blanket statements) applied to human causes.
Very nice they were willing to help me they provide it free food for my pets
I went here for a dog for my son and let me say after weeks and countless trips to different shelters that were not so nice and made it impossible to get a dog, they were awesome! We now have our dog oreo and hes as amazing! He is the sweetest dog ever!
Great place to bring your pets, nice staff, cheap prices
Cheap, affordable place to get veterinary care for pet. However, place can get crowded in time.
The entire organization is a blessing for the cummunity. The no kill shelter offers all of us a chance to bring home a friend and get back unconditional LOVE. The care given to the animals through the shelter clinic is an opportunity for reciveing the best Doctoring around these parts partner's. An inexpensive bag of food, or even one bottle of bleach can help the organization. So come on down and give the AWA a visit.
I adopted my dog from here on May 24th,2019. This was the fifth animal shelter that I visited, & at the time I was severely depressed. I had a letter from my doctor for a therapy animal, I suffer from PTSD & i met Becky (at the time was her name) and this little girl barely had any muscle definition, and she was just so scared of everything& everyone! Today, her and I are best friends! We do everything together and help one another with our traumatic pasts. I love her so much. And the volunteers were extremely helpful! They knew we would be perfect for one another, she's my forever fur baby thank you so much AWA love Hope, Alina & Kirsten!
*I decided to change her name to Hope.
But i wanted to add these pictures to show before being loved with my entire heart & after
I was pleased on the clinic has given my best friend a coftable place in heaven she no longer suffering thank u much prin i miss u soo soo much love dad
Adopted all my pets from here. Staff is very friendly and helpful and going to come back to adopt a puppy soon!
Very clean , all animals are very well kept. We recently adopted our 3rd dog Levi and I recommend the Voorhees Animal Welfare if you are looking to adopt a dog or even a cat
Great place, great friendly staff. Adopted a great dog.
The behaviorist here isn't very helpful BUT honestly my biggest issue is that they spay and neuter here even when the pet is two months old. This often causes urinary issues for dogs and that is exactly what our puppy is experiencing unfortunately. I do understand why they are doing it but I really wish they wouldn't. There has to be a better way. We adopted our other puppy from a different agency and they had us sign a contract stating we would spay at 6 months which we happily did and she is fine. I would highly suggest not spaying the female pups until they are at least 6 months of age. This is coming from a former veterinary technician.
It's been next to impossible to get spay neuter appts or any appts that require a vet.
Love this place. I always take my pets here for vaccinations and surgery. Very friendly staff and they explain everything. The facility is very clean, I highly recommend this place.
My cats both got fixed and shots cheap and the staff is so friendly they make you feel better about leaving your furry children with them. Thank you so much...
Safe place to take your pet to be neutered or spayed it. Shots given too flea and tick treatment testing for heart worm
Excellent staff and excellent selection of adoptable pets.
Very friendly front desk. And smelled clean when walking in(some shelters do not). I have repeatedly used their clinic also for my animals, great friendly people and great services. Will continue to return.
People are nice and so is the shelter but don t seem to know a lot about the dogs they get.
These guys are great! I adopted my new best friend about a week ago and the whole process was quick, easy, and they definitely put the animal first. They have a bunch of pets to choose from, and they're super helpful. It's also very clean and looks like a great place for the animals. Definitely support them any chance you get because they are top notch.
Truly love the way AAA loves their animals waiting for their new homes. The Clinic is well run and has very reasonable prices for vaccinations, so much lower than veterinarian office, although need well visit appointment if you want your pet seen by vet. Technicians administer vaccines. Very clean and friendly environment. Main shelter supposed to be getting upgrade. Can't wait to see the project during project stages!
Very good place to adopt. We got a great kitten from here.
A bit of a mess when it's too crowded and customers are elbowing for a particular pet.
Adoption process was a breeze. Great friendly staff. Adopted an awesome doberman named RED BARON!
Just love this place! Adopted "Baby" almost 3 months ago and she is a pleasure! Especially now as my precious Duke passed away this week. If and when the time is right I will be back again. My only place to go.
Great staff. Helped so many animals. Everyone is very friendly. They are doing am awesome job
The clinic should be open when people coming to with pet Saturday
An absolutely excellent shelter. I've gotten all three of my cats from there over the last ten years. They spay and neuter pets on site and before they adopt animals out. They keep them up to date on vaccinations prior to adoption. The staff is super friendly, very knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. It's an honest shelter that truly does it's best for each and every animal that comes through it's doors. I couldn't recommend them more.
They work really hard for the animals with limited resources. They deserve way more credit than they get.
Great place, the AWA is a higher standard of a shelter, all animals are taken care of well. Adopt from here
I have lost count of how many times I've called the pet clinic to set an appointment to spay my dog. They never answer, return calls or emails..
Adopted my baby Koko on Tuesday and I couldn't be happier with the entire process, from when I walked in the door, to when I exited with my girl! The staff is wonderful and the facility is well maintained:) Thank u sooo much and my baby Koko is AMAZING and Love her already!!!
We got a female Pomeranian from here it will be three years ago Christmas Eve that we named Chestnut. She is Beautiful!! We love her to death. She was found in a shed in Camden but now is in a loving home. Adopting is the way to go because you are giving a pet a new lease on life They were so great here and fast so we got to spend Christmas with our new little girl WHAT A GREAT CHRISTMAS!! Just an update she is doing so well and loves her new family with her brother and sisters
great cause, great staff, and great animals. Julie and Staff were fab in walking me thru all info needed and my questions. I am fortunate to have been able to be a part of it in adopting Jackie (now Lola) a few days ago.
Beautiful facility, great prices, great staff! Will come here for my vaccines from now on!!
Too busy, too crowded. Just didn't feel comfortable here.
I went there asking for friendly and cuddly dog. They told me to adopt this dog because she s nice. I went with the dog I had just adopted to see some friends and she started barking and growling like crazy. She even bit someone at one point. Mind you this dog is big. This dog has always loved me and has always protected me and always will. I fortunately had the $3000 to dish out and get the dog professionally trained. For anyone who can t be VERY careful with this shelter. I will definitely adopt from here again, and I highly recommend it but be aware. They are definitely the type to push you to adopt a dog that isn t your ideal companion just for their benefit.
Always a great place to go when looking for a new animal to save. They are the only shelter in the area that adopts out rabbits and other small animals. They also make sure they are neutered prior to being adopted.
My experience was terrible. I kept going back and leaving without a dog. The dog has to fit. They are liars, how would they know the dog fits or not.??? I took care of my boy better than some people take care of children. Still no dog. If I had the money I would take these people to court.
I love this places they threat the animals with a lot of love and do a good job
The best place to go to adopt a loving dog or cat! Absolutely loved the service here and would definitely recommend
The animal hospital might be reasonably priced but not worth the hassle they gave us, spend the extra money and take your pets to a real veterinary!
During such a difficult time of saying goodbye to our dog, the staff here were very understanding and compassionate. Also have had friends adopt from this organization. Would highly recommend them for any situation.
They are always there to take care of all of our pets . We love them for everything they have done .
Everyone was very helpful and I didn't feel rushed at all.
I got a dog named Davita she so perfect so loving I'm so greatful for her.
These folks are so caring & kind. We really love coming here.
I understand that due to covid there's a need for an appointment but when asked outside if I could be helped the older gentleman with a mustache and glasses said appointment only. Disappointed I turned to walk away and the guy pops off we don't have dogs anyway. I replied I wasn't looking for a dog and guy says ok whatever. No need to be unprofessional and a price. Won't be back and I won't be recommending any of your services to anyone.
I get a response from the shelter about appointments and covid that I already know about. So what about addressing the rude unprofessional worker there? That wasn't addressed in your response!
For the love of God how does a clinic for animals that preform sugeries not have an x-ray machine!!!!! The staff are very nice and seem caring but come on....
NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance: Promoting the Human-Animal Bond and Eliminating Animal Suffering
NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance is a non-profit organization that aims to eliminate animal suffering and promote the human-animal bond. The organization was founded in 2003 by a group of animal lovers who were concerned about the welfare of animals in New Jersey. Since then, NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance has been working tirelessly to improve the lives of animals through various programs and initiatives.
One of the main goals of NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance is to reduce pet overpopulation in New Jersey. The organization achieves this goal through its spay/neuter program, which provides low-cost or free spay/neuter services for cats and dogs. By reducing pet overpopulation, NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance helps prevent unwanted litters from ending up in shelters or on the streets.
In addition to its spay/neuter program, NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance also operates an adoption center and no-kill animal shelter. The adoption center provides a safe haven for homeless pets while they wait for their forever homes. The no-kill shelter ensures that all animals are given a chance at life, regardless of their age or health status.
NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance also works to promote responsible pet ownership through education and outreach programs. These programs aim to teach people about proper pet care, including nutrition, exercise, grooming, and veterinary care. By promoting responsible pet ownership, NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance hopes to reduce instances of neglect or abuse.
Another important aspect of NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance's work is advocating for stronger animal protection laws in New Jersey. The organization works with lawmakers at both the state and local levels to pass legislation that protects animals from cruelty and abuse.
Overall, NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in New Jersey by promoting responsible pet ownership, reducing pet overpopulation through spay/neuter services, providing shelter for homeless pets through its adoption center and no-kill shelter program as well as advocating for stronger animal protection laws.
If you're looking for ways to get involved with this amazing organization there are many opportunities available such as volunteering your time at one their events or making a donation towards their cause!
