My 2 year old puggle was spayed at AWA vorheese just last week. She was happy and bouncy after day one at home! She is a temperamental little one and very protective. She is not easy to handle. Not only did the staff handle her with care and expertise but her recovery has been amazingly smooth! The staff is professional, friendly and nurturing! All questions answered on the spot, a 24 hour post surgery line for issues.(which I did NOT need!) I am very thankful that they did such an amazing job with our fur baby! I couldnt speak highly enough of this location and the quality of care! Excellent job , Thank you! 5 stars isn't high enough!!!

I took my deceased dog here to be cremated and they were so disrespectful toward my dog. They told me they would hold her body over the weekend until their cremation services came in on Tuesday. I called Tuesday morning and they had no record of my dog, of me or any emergency contacts that I left. They tried to give me the run around and suddenly they found all my information and was told they would call me in two weeks when her remains and a ceramic paw print would be returned. Two weeks goes by they call me to inform me her remains and print were there to be picked up but when I go in to pick them up no one knows anything about it and there s no paw print or paperwork for my dog AGAIN. They finally bring her remainds up but no paw print. I was refunded my money and told the next animal I brought in for anything would be free of charge....WHY would I ever in a million years bring another animal here for anything?!?! My dog was part of my family and her loss was the biggest loss we could have took and you people disrespected her and us. I m disgusted with this place and I wouldn t recommend them to anyone, they should be shut down!!!! Terrible!!

One star is too high. They don t even have the decency to respond to emails nor do they answer their phones. It s been a week and still no response from their preferred (forced) method of comms. I don t understand how a company could operate in such manor. Needless to say, this place is a giant NO GO.

The staff here is fantastic! I have gone here for the vet services and the adoption services. I also have donated food for the dogs. The staff has always been grateful for my donations. The prices for the vet services are very inexpensive and I recommend that you give them a try.

I went here recently with a friend of mine to look at a specific dog and the girl that we were asking questions to told us the dog was too friendly with cats.. when we proceeded to ask questions she was very rude to us and told us she basically didnt know and to go to the front desk. Where we found out the dog is not friendly with cats, it was trained to a previous owner to attack small animals. You should really make sure ALL of your volunteers know information about the animals. And when helping animals get home they should not be rude to potential adopters! There should also be more truthful descriptions about the animals, don't let someone fall in love with a dog to find out they can't adopt them because they attack small animals.

Horrible. I went everyday for a dog i loved. They didnt let me put in my app. Just kept saying check the site. I called & never got info just more run around. Finally i see the dog online so i go. Well im 10 min too late at 12:22 because the dog was adopted. Oh, they also said my b.f and son had to be there to meet then do the app. Well funny because the adopters never had a child there but was shown in adoption pic. Also they give dogs away they dont want to who "arent adoptable" to animal orphanage. Ill never go to awa again. They treated me terribly and just gave me the run around. I guess they knew who they wanted for the dog..family friend? Only 2 women there who were nice enough to speak with me in kennels so theyre only reason i gave 1 star.

This review is way over due, but better late than never. About 6 years ago, I brought my kitten in to the awa to have her spayed. Athe the time they were doing a deal for spay in neuter that made my cats surgery only 25 dollars, if I remember correctly. What I great deal! I remember being in the waiting room not long at all. When they called me back to get more information on my cat, that went very quickly. I almost wish it would have been slower. I mean, my very loved cat was getting surgery. I wanted to say good bye, but didn't really get the chance lol. But i guess that's not really a big deal. Her surgery went well, and she recovered fine and healed without any issues. I've never adopted an animal from there so I can't give my feelings on that. But I've met a lot of their staff and volunteers through working at petco in turnersville years ago. They were all very friendly and knowledgeable. They seemed very passionate about the animals in their care. I've been calling their lately to get information about their pit bull fix program, and possibly having my dogs hernia repaired at the same time. Much like other reviews are saying, they didn't answer the phone when I called, but I let a message and they got back to me within 2 days. I missed their call, but they left me a very informative email. I called them back to schedule the appointment and ask more questions, again no answer, but they called back and answered the last of my questions on my voicemail. I'll be calling again to schedule the appointment. Not being able to get to the phone isn't a big deal. People are busy. I'm thankful they left all the info I needed on my voicemail.

Would never come back to the clinic . Took my 22wk German Shepherd to get neutered and a hernia repair. Upon check in they took my dog back and while paying called me back and said vet wanted to see me- she proceeded to condescend me on my dog s weight saying she could see his ribs. First of all, if anyone knows German Shepherd puppies they are lanky and goofy until they fill out around 1yr. He s 48 lbs and has grown steadily with no concern to his vet about any of his health. His siblings are all within 5lb of that weight. She treated me like some animal abuser. Left with a very bad taste in my mouth. Upon pick up, I inquired about any additional post care instructions since my dog was having a hernia repair at the same time of neutering. The girl said she would be back and check. Disappeared as other dogs proceeded to be checked out while I stood there. Then the supervisor by the name of Danielle came out to say sorry they forgot to do his hernia repair and was a mistake and I can go to front desk for that portion of money back. Just brushed it off as a mistake and no big deal. Wow. It was on all his paperwork, his email scheduled apt confirmation etc. Vet advised me to have the hernia repaired while being neutered so it was one surgery. This was more than a mistake . They just rushed me out of there w no concern or anything. Maybe If the vet wasn t so busy worried about my dog s weight she would ve seen the hernia repair listed on the paperwork. Totally unprofessional. I tried calling several times and was told Michael is the manager who can call me back. Apparently he left for the day and Danielle the supervisor who just told me a mistake was supposed to call me back and let me know that- but no call. I would never come back here. Totally unprofessional the way I was treated in all aspects and my dog will now need another surgery because of their mistake

During Covid-19 there is no discounts!! for Camden's residents or anyone with low income.
I just wish it was posted on the website or in my email saying so. I had an appointment over a month ago and was not going to cost 248$ for both my cats to be neutered with shots. The clinic was very clean, organized and they staff were great. Very thankful and happy for the clinic being open during COVID-19 but I was poor before the shutdown down and I'm really poor now lol.

While AWA Voorhees sticks to its reputation of cleanliness and quality, my experience lacked in communication. As a first time adopter, I was left jaded to say the least.

My dog was sold to me as younger and healthier than he actually was. His summary said he was 5 years old with basic tartar build up on his teeth. However, one look from his Vet said he was more like 10 years old with severe periodontal disease.

I understand that adopting a pet has a "buyer beware" perspective after signing a contract that states any health conditions post-adoption are at the expense of the owner. However, shelters should not completely assume a sales perspective to rid of the animal instead of actually caring about their well-being. My dog has apparently been in pain for years and his teeth/gums range from stage 1-4 in disease, which could at this point lead to infection of the organs and possible death. The least they could have done was communicate these issues if they did not have the capacity to treat the dog.

For this, I will never contribute to their shelter again, and I urge you to be very careful in adopting from a shelter with a sales approach.

Best place to adopt or get wellness checks on your pets and do spay and neuter much cheaper than your vet. I used to work here and they really do care about the animals. It s extremely clean in the adoption part which is separate from the medical wing. If I didn t have so much pain from my MS I d still be working there! They are truly amazing and go beyond to help the people and the animals and also for the community. They will even help people in need and give free food to those that need it so that the people don t have to worry about having to give up their pets. Which we animal lovers all know our pets are like our children. So it s awesome to see a shelter help with things like that.

When a dog is "on hold" you should have something on the cage saying that. I spent 15 minutes getting attached to a dog without any staff around and no message anywhere saying the dog is "on hold". I thought the dog was mine. Then I was finally told it was on hold. Now some else has it. You suck and your sink is broken.

Six months ago I adopted two small adult dogs from AWA. My intention was to adopt one but AWA was eager to keep them together since they'd been bonded all their lives. AWA worked with me on their adoption rate so I could take both. Staff cried and hugged me for keeping them together.

Weeks later one dog's spade scar was infected. The AWA Clinic saw her ASAP. I wasn't happy that my dog was taken into another room for evaluation and treatment while I was left in the waiting room but, they treated her and the infection cleared up without any problem.

My dogs are happy, healthy, and filled with spirit. AWA does good work and is a wonderful place to find the next member of your family.

I had visited here many years ago when the facility was still in its infancy. They have come such a long way. The people who work here are angels. Their hearts are unlike many others. They do the very best they can to feed the hungry, home the homeless, but most of all love those that no one wants. They see terrible things that few of us cannot even imagine what we humans do to Gods loving creatures. Help them out, give them credit. Be patient and kind to the workers. For they give their time and their love to animals who may never have experienced it before.

I have adopted both my dogs from here. They bring a lot of hounds up from the south. Staff is attentive to the animals. You can adopt dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals from here. They are very active in the community and run lots of great events for dogs like Yappy Hour and Bark in the Park.

Horrible adoption experience they truly had no clue about the dog they sent home with us. Said she was kid friendly but she tried to bite our kids. Also had a case of resource guarding which is not good for kids! The fact that it took four families to get Mopsey a home shows how badly they knew that dog! They made 800 dollars off her!

They said they wouldn t judge us for it not working out with Mopsey and guess what they did! Adopt somewhere else! Don t give them your money!

I wasn't able to find the young dog that I was looking for on any of the trips that I made here. Several times there were maybe 3 dogs there. Which is wonderful! But I always wonder why dogs weren't brought up from high kill shelters in the south.

About NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance

NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance: Promoting the Human-Animal Bond and Eliminating Animal Suffering

NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance is a non-profit organization that aims to eliminate animal suffering and promote the human-animal bond. The organization was founded in 2003 by a group of animal lovers who were concerned about the welfare of animals in New Jersey. Since then, NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance has been working tirelessly to improve the lives of animals through various programs and initiatives.

One of the main goals of NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance is to reduce pet overpopulation in New Jersey. The organization achieves this goal through its spay/neuter program, which provides low-cost or free spay/neuter services for cats and dogs. By reducing pet overpopulation, NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance helps prevent unwanted litters from ending up in shelters or on the streets.

In addition to its spay/neuter program, NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance also operates an adoption center and no-kill animal shelter. The adoption center provides a safe haven for homeless pets while they wait for their forever homes. The no-kill shelter ensures that all animals are given a chance at life, regardless of their age or health status.

NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance also works to promote responsible pet ownership through education and outreach programs. These programs aim to teach people about proper pet care, including nutrition, exercise, grooming, and veterinary care. By promoting responsible pet ownership, NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance hopes to reduce instances of neglect or abuse.

Another important aspect of NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance's work is advocating for stronger animal protection laws in New Jersey. The organization works with lawmakers at both the state and local levels to pass legislation that protects animals from cruelty and abuse.

Overall, NJ Animal Advocacy Alliance is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in New Jersey by promoting responsible pet ownership, reducing pet overpopulation through spay/neuter services, providing shelter for homeless pets through its adoption center and no-kill shelter program as well as advocating for stronger animal protection laws.

If you're looking for ways to get involved with this amazing organization there are many opportunities available such as volunteering your time at one their events or making a donation towards their cause!
