I love that I can take a break from studying and walk through nature!
I love that I can take a break from studying and walk through nature!
Largest historical variety of peonys worth the trip and difficult parking.
So gorgeous. You feel like you aren't even in the city.
This place is nature retreat for the locals around the year!
Beautiful all year round, and there are always places that feel secluded
Beautiful grounds, did a hike here with Hike It Baby, would love to come back and see more! Parking is easier on Sundays
This is a well-kept, natural area of hils, woods, grasslands, trails, collected and labeled plants. In June one can attend a Shakespeare in the Park production, visit the famous peony gardens, and wander the expanses between a part of the Huron River to Geddes Avenue.
This is a wooded area off the Hill Neighborhood of the UMich campus. There are several trails one can walk around as well as a peony garden. It is a nice place for a walk or a run. There are also trails besides the Huron River.
Lots of trail choices and some genuinely steep hills. The meadow is a popular hangout and the peony garden draws a big crowd especially on weekends. At the gate by the hospital (nearest the cemetery) there's a visitor center with drinks for purchase. Don't miss the old trees from the 18th century (!), older than the town. Fair to say this is not the cherry tree Washington allegedly chopped down.
The staff are always kind and helpful! I have been all over in different departments and everyone is nice! It's a good place to be when you have a loved one that needs care.
One of the best parts about living in Ann Arbor, absolutely beautiful all year round.
Ran through here every day for a month and loved it. Theres so many trails you can get lost on. Not too lost since they really aren't that long. Just enough to go around in circles for a few hours and not even realize it. This place is great to work out, go for a run/walk, read a book or do photography.
Great nature retreat along the river and close to campus.
Even if you are not from Ann Arbor, it is well worth the drive to see this place in the fall! There are many trails to walk around and look at all of the beautiful plant and Wildlife. Great place for a first date or just to go walk around and enjoy nature. Don't worry about getting lost everything is well-marked.
The doctor's and nurses are totally AWESOME here. I had the best care ever. I had bladder sling surgery done and Dr. Stoffel did an AMAZING JOB. Thank you so much to the whole staff of doctor's and nurses. Go Blue!!
One of my favorite spots to visit and explore in Ann Arbor, with plenty of trails and lots of local plants. And birds!
What a wonderful place. So peaceful. So calming and nice
Truly a wonderful little escape in Ann Arbor, it's got some rolling hills, a few nice fields and outcrops, and a nice riverfront area.
Great area for walks, relaxing, taking kids, or jogging. There is a variety of path types, and many connections to other paths and trails in the area. This is a favorite place to visit, and is nice all times of the year. We most recently took our daughter on a hike in the winter, and are looking forward to showing her more as she grows older.
The Two hours tour to this place was worth it's efforts.a beautiful, bountiful with serenity of nature... excellent trail , which we may reach trolls ,and relaxing and healthy.. awesome since the whole thing dates back to 1800's.
This such a beautiful place to walk, run, sit on the many benches, or take your own picnic mat & relax. It's not too big of a nature area, but it's a decent size. There is a peony flower garden surrounded by benches that is one of my favorite places to visit in May & early June (when the peonies are in full bloom). For those of you who like to run, there is a Run for the Arb 5k every year in the fall. There are so many little spots deep in the woods that you will discover only if you take those little narrow trails that might seem to take you no where, will pleasantly surprised you.
It's a large tranquil area in the city of Ann arbor
I like it because it is seen that there are more study opportunities and possible jobs for young people who like to study, and they achieve it with the support that these universities give them
Beautiful scenery. Great place to walk, jog, run,or hike. Also a cool spot to have a picnic.
What a gem! When you walk in you are transported to a serene forest and you can completely forget you are right in the middle of a bustling city. Explore miles of trails filled with various flowers, plants, and trees along the river. You can also relax in the peony garden or stroll along the river. You will find a map to guide you near each entrance. Some trails are well marked and easy to travel, with a few a bit more rustic. It can be a bit of a climb but the views are worth it. We found parking to be a bit of a challenge at the Gateway Garden. I would have liked to see more plants and trees marked/labeled as we enjoy learning about plants and adding variety in our yard. All in all a refreshing way to spend a few hours.
Scenic trail with lots of opportunity of running, hiking, with hills, flowers and forest. One of the best hill run in the area.
A beautiful place for walkers/hikers of any level. Parking is a pain, but everything else is fantastic.
One of my favorite places to take pictures at regardless of the season. Features inside and outside plants and flowers. Beautiful outdoor walking trails, tropical indoor space, and a whole room dedicated to cacti. A must-see in Ann Arbor!
Lots of trees changing color, many trails throughout the park.
Beautiful nature area in the heart of Ann Arbor. The pathways lead you to see plenty of gorgeous flowers, hills and native plants. You can also see the Huron River as it flows towards the southeast. Many people walk or jog through it and there's bench areas for sitting or having a picnic. Ticks may be in the area so wearing long pants is recommended for better protection.
Beautiful arboretum. I make sure my running route goes thru it atleast 3 times a week
Parking situation is atrocious. Don't bother unless you are willing to walk several miles.
Absolutely awesome park right in the middle of Ann Arbor. I used to run here all the time when I was younger and in better shape and there are plenty of trails to keep you busy all day. It runs parallel to the Huron River as well and there are several areas where you can sit and watch the river. Parking to go here is kind of lame, there isn't really a parking lot or anything. The best way to get in that I've found is to take Geddes road up to the front entrance of the park and park on one of the side streets. They're free in most places and you can usually find a spot quickly.
Walking through here was peaceful and gorgeous. There's plenty of paths to wander and beautiful spots to take photos. Forest, river, and field engagement photos all for the win!
Beautiful place to walk and check out all the landscaping
What a nice park. It has well defined paths free of poison ivy. As our two families walked through the park, I counted no less than six different varieties of flowers just next to the path. The kids loved the large meadow, but spent most of their time playing by the rapids in the water. A great day to sit in the shade on a bench. I place that you can visit time and time again. You won't be able to see everything in just one day.
A classic spot to visit in Ann Arbor and a delightful all season natural space for connecting with nature. Grab a map at the office or follow Google maps paths. Visitors can walk as long as three miles or as short as one. Signaling is not the best and as any arboretum, there's no restrooms facilities except the entrance facing UofM hospital. Sometimes there's a portable potty near the river. In Covid-19 times, please yield space for social distancing since it gets crowded, specially weekends. Kid friendly with a troll/fairy space for natural building.
Absolutely beautiful place to hike. Kid and pet friendly.
I ride bicycles with my friends all over A2. Been coming here for years and years. It's beautiful here.
Wonderful nature preserve that I never grow tired of visiting.
An absolutely beautiful place to go on a walk, take your dogs, watch the birds, and enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by nature without having to leave the comfort of civilization. Be careful not to let your dogs off leash on a crowded day because the park caretakers will get annoyed, but in the morning or evening it's usually fine. Also check out the river and the peonie garden because they're absolutely gorgeous.
The people who work there are amazing wonderful thoughtful carrying and kind they treat you like family. They are taking awsome care of my daughter and new granddaughter.
Beautiful for a date night, family walk, take your dog for a stroll or even some pictures by the Peonies. Beautiful place!!
Beautiful, well-maintained space. Parking can be difficult, so keep that in mind when planning trips (if you aren't walking distance).
Beautiful arboretum with various trial gardens and wonderful trails. Great for a short hike with family
Have been walking in the Arb since college, it's always beautiful. Sometimes we hike around and other times we cut through it or sit and read. We love walking it Spring through Fall. Always peaceful. Always beautiful. So thankful for this place.
Huge variety of peonies and collection of other plant species. biggest collection of peonies species in USA. Has trails for people who prefers walk, river bank scenery is good. Parking is free at nearby blue parking after hours.
Very peaceful place to unwind after a day of studying. Lots of trails. Good for families and dogs, terrain isn't difficult.
What a great place for a hike. I only give 4 stars because it is totally lacking in bathroom facilities. There is one porta-john and that is always nasty. Other than that this is a beautiful park.
A perfect oasis on a University campus. Great Escape for hospital visitors and staff.
One of the most beautiful place that you can just walk from work.
Terrain varies from meadow to river gorge and the vegetation varies seasonally as well as by environment. Lots of marked trails, some open year-round. Festivals held numerous times throughout the year themed by music, theater or what's in bloom. Not a lot of on-site parking.
A great park for relaxing, sledding, exercising, dancing, reading, picnicking, and anything else you would do in a park.
Gorgeous place to run. So many trails you can take and lovely things to see. I came out here to my boyfriends hometown and he told me to run at the arboretum. I love running and I enjoy sightseeing- this place will give you both.
An hour went by so quickly. They even have stairs which is what I did and is a great leg workout!
However, don't forget that however far you go, you still have to go back. I forgot that part and to say the least, I came back drenched and tired.
If you don't want to go for a run, just a place to walk and talk or sit and relax.. This place is the spot!
Beautifully managed forest trail, unique peony gardens and some rare vertical landscape in Michigan. Metered street parking has dwindled to zero, which is a shame.
