We have waited about a year for our certification training and we were very impressed with the facility. The staff was amazing and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to succeed. The recommended hotel was wonderful and we never had to wait for a shuttle. We will be back for advance training next year.
I ve used NIC Industries multiple times through Internet orders and the customer service has been great. Even the times that I ve had to call in to place orders their help has always been friendly and courteous. And they re shipping has been absolutely perfect. I can get products overnighted to Maryland for less than I can do local shipping around me. I don t know how they do it. I honestly couldn t say a bad thing about this company. Cerakote has from the beginning always treated us like Kings. They are a fantastic company to work with and have been incredibly gracious to us when we visit and have provided phenomenal customer support at every turn. They are hands down our number one Vendor and we love doing business with them.
I can speak to my experience with the Cerakote branch of NIC Industries. This team is top notch. We had to wait just about 15 months from the time we signed up for Certification to the time we were able to get in for Certification, but the wait was worth its weight in H-122 (Cerakote Pun).
They were patient with us. We had never picked up a spray gun or applied Cerakote. We were the biggest lump of clay in the world. Just waiting to be molded into experts. We didn't become awesome overnight. We went home and we put in the work. Josh and Ryan on the tech support team would deal with almost weekly phone calls from us. Thankfully they were patient, interested and very helpful with the process.
We learned as much by asking questions as we did by taking the initial class. We strive to constantly improve ourselves and we scheduled our Advanced training. This was a very good move for us. It gave us an opportunity to work with our trainers (Jacob and Moose aka Matthew) worked with us on all kinds of new processes and techniques. Needless to say it was time very well spent.
If you are serious about Cerakote, sign up and get Certified. It makes a huge difference. After learning what I know now, I would not even mess with an applicator that hasn't taken the time to get Certified. It may take a while to get scheduled, but get it scheduled, wait it out and it will be here before you know it. You won't regret it!

Incredible training! The facility is great and my trainer, Jacob, did an excellent job showing me how to spray inside, outside, and how to put down a very consistent spray coat. I have been applying Cerakote for a couple of years...the training course taught me the better, more consistent method of application. Yes, if you are applying Cerakote and are self-taught, you should attend this training. It is worth every penny and will teach you how to provide a top quality product for your customers! They will be very appreciative.

I have been doing business with NIC Industries for the last 3 years. In that time we have been treated with an incredibly high level of respect and customer service that cannot be beat. I just finished up my 2 day training course with Cerakote. All I can say is it was an outstanding time. I learned a ton, the training cadre there is top notch. All are professional and dedicated to sharing their vast knowledge of the product but give in-site on the business side of it as well. Highly recommended.
NIC personnel have been patient and professional from the very beginning. I had to rearrange class dates and they worked with me. No issues. The trainers were professional and very accommodating. I went to the training with several specific questions and they were answered in-depth. I also learned a lot of things I didn't even know I needed to know. It was definitely worth the trip and expenses involved. The training was 90% hands on. They teach you the correct process, for best results, from start to finish. Very nice people. DEFINITELY worth the money and time spent.

This was probably the best training course I have ever taken. The facility was incredible! Every person within the company was knowledgable and extremely friendly. The training course was great. Each student had their own instructor that covered the material to match your learning speed. I highly recommend anyone who plans on applying Cerakote go through this training.
tl;dr for orders shipped to Europe, there are very high extra costs caused by UPS and customs. The NIC industries did not inform about this in the pre-sales process.
Detailed review:
The pre-sale contact with the customer service around ordering custom swatches was unresponsive and not very polite (e.g. emails without greetings and not all questions answered).
The actual order process was okay and the (then different) customer service reps were good, polite and competent. Also the delivered custom swatches were good and helped to make a decision and also the price ($10 per customer swatch) was okay.
Super bad user experience though was the fact, that after I received my order from Prismatic Powders / NIC Industries I also received an invoice over $60 from UPS. Before placing the order I asked the the NIC Industries customer service about the total costs (incl. sending the swatches to Europe) and I got the information, that I had to pay $39 in total incl. $13 for shipment.
Since NIC has a lot of partners / re-sellers in Germany, for me it is hard to believe, that they were not aware of the fact, that this order is coming with extra costs caused by UPS / customs.
Best Customer Service Ever! NIC Industries is all about taking care of it's customers. If you could rate them higher than a 5 star they would be a 10 star company. Friendly staff and they will go the extra mile to make sure that you are successful at your business. Doesn't get any better than this!
The Certified Applicator Training was excellent start to finish. I've been working with Cerakote for about 1 year and have several years of powder coating experience prior to that and this training refined everything I was doing to allow me to provide a more quality end result to my customers. My mystical, Sasquatch loving trainer Jacob is the man. However, I can't just speak to him as I am reviewing the experience as a whole (sorry man). Every person in that facility that I had the opportunity to work with or even just briefly communicate with was fantastic at what they were doing and made you feel like part of the company, not a customer. There are so many tips, techniques and information that you ll gain by attending - PLUS the confidence you ll gain by actually performing the work in a structured, hands-on environment. And once you ve completed the course and have become certified, you gain access to much more detailed and helpful information - along with reaching out to Cerakote for technical support and questions.
Another thing to consider is the confidence a certified applicator extends to a customer.
The course is structured very well with minimal stress and attention to technique and detail. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the training staff really know their stuff.
Going into the course I wasn t really sure what to expect - but I can say it exceeded any expectations that I may have had. I left with a confidence knowing that I had a better technique for consistent coatings and to correct and fix potential problems.
To sum it up - become certified. Take the course.

Excellent experience with the training staff at NIC . 40 years in coatings applications and development , cerakote has endless possibilities.
I find it painful to write such harsh words against a company we have used for years over a $70 bottle of Glacier Black Cerakote. I ordered a pint bottle and we have had nothing but issues with the product. We have followed every instruction given to us by tech support and the data sheets.
However, this product refuses to cure after the 5 day mark. 10 days later I can scratch the coating off with my finger nails. We contacted tech support about the issues and they "tried" to replicate the issues and promised me they would take care of me regardless.
They said they couldn't replicate the issues using the same lot #. Regardless this product wasn't working and we wanted our money back and they refused even after promising me a new bottle of a refund. So now we are going to use their competitors and they lost a lot of business over $70. If I ran my company this way, I'd be out of business. I'd like to point out that Mike Marugg|, Certified Network Manager, seemed to have ZERO interest in helping us and was very curt and short with me.
We are out $70 and NIC industries is out a long time customer due to their mistreatment of clients and faulty products.
Not only is Cerakote one of the best finishes available for firearms, but there are a huge number of other applications as well. They have many different high quality products for different applications. They are very customer service oriented. NIC Industries in general, and Cerakote in particular are geared toward making their customers successful. The training they have available is second to none, and well worth the time spent.
NIC does a fantastic job supporting there applicators. Do shy away from using them or asking for help.
We just finished up three days of training and have to say the NIC crew were some of the most welcoming, passionate people we've ever worked with. During the entire stay you could just see how much passion goes into these products and for training people how to apply them correctly. Cheers!
