I was a member at one time so that I could bring the kids here and enjoy this famous, landmark aquarium. On my recent visit I did not go in as the line was long and I didn't have priority entry.
While in Boston you must make a visit even if you don't have kids. the tank is humungous and so aren't some of it's inhabitants.

Really great information and exhibits but the layout of the aquarium is a little confusing and doesn't handle large traffic very well. They could do a better job of enforcing no flash photography or tapping on the glass. The line to get tickets was dramatic, snaking you through tents with employees taking your picture to sell you further down the line.
The main attraction would probably be the center tank which is really well maintained and cared after. There are hundreds of fish and sea turtles and you could spend hours just watching them all.
Without rushing and spending a good amount of time at each exhibit we spent a little over 2 hours at the aquarium. Whether that is enough to justify the money is up to you.

Came on a holiday weekend and, as expected, had to wait awhile which wasn t really the problem. It was once you got inside where the issues started. Super crowded from the never ending stream of people coming in and no directional control meant you felt like a fish swimming upstream. Incredibly cramped and nearly impossible to get the little kids close enough to see an exhibit (the guy standing in front of the octopus on his phone checking his email was my personal favorite). All of this coupled with how dark it was inside meant I spent more time trying to see my kids than see the exhibits. Overall, a very negative experience.

A little underwhelming. Parking was $40 for not even a full 2 hours inside the museum. We expected to spend more time in the museum, but felt there wasn't as much to see as we expected. The huge circle aquarium in the middle of the museum is fascinating though.

The prices went up big time is there really a few exhibits. The octopus is rather small and in such a small enclosure if there's more than four or five people looking you won't see in the enclosure is set up in such a way that you can't see anyways. Other than the Penguins and the two big turtles this was kind of a bust. Not what it used to be in the past.

Loved it and it's only because the library on Tremont St gave me and my ganson tickets the same day. All the sea creatures showed up and showed out. The only probably was not enough diversity.... Everybody at the exhibits I seen was all white... Nobody looked like me nor my ganson and therefore they nice was insulting. All races are nice that don't prove you qualified

Great opportunity for everyone to experience aquatic life from up close. The central aquarium is filled with a variety of creatures and is an absolute fun to watch. The entire place can be easily covered in under 2 hours, unless you go for the whale watch.

The one thing that bothered my group, was the first exhibit you see is the penguins. There were pieces of trash that the penguins were eating and though we notified 3 different staff members, it was still there a couple of hours later.

Love this aquarium because it emphasizes learning more about the ocean and taking care of this precious resource. It's a small space, but you'll learn a lot!
Don't park in the garage though. It'll cost you an arm and a leg. Find meter parking on the nearby streets & walk a block or two. Way worth it

My kids love aquariums and we have been to a few to say the least. This one was just the right size to keep a 6 year old entertained and 1010 year old busy. The part they liked the best was the touch tank.
About New England Aquarium
The New England Aquarium is a world-renowned visitor attraction located in Boston, Massachusetts. With over 1.3 million visitors annually, it is one of the most popular destinations in the city and a major public education resource.
Founded in 1969, the New England Aquarium has been dedicated to promoting ocean conservation and marine research for over five decades. The aquarium's mission is to inspire visitors to protect and conserve our oceans through education, research, and advocacy.
One of the main attractions at the New England Aquarium is its Giant Ocean Tank. This massive cylindrical tank stands at four stories tall and holds over 200,000 gallons of water. Visitors can observe a variety of marine life up close as they swim around this impressive exhibit.
In addition to the Giant Ocean Tank, there are many other exhibits that showcase different aspects of marine life. The Amazon Rainforest exhibit features freshwater fish from South America while the Edge of the Sea exhibit highlights creatures that live along rocky shorelines.
The aquarium also offers various educational programs for visitors of all ages. From school field trips to summer camps and even adult workshops, there are plenty of opportunities to learn about marine science and conservation.
For those interested in getting involved with ocean conservation efforts themselves, there are several volunteer opportunities available at the aquarium. Volunteers can assist with animal care or help educate visitors about ocean conservation issues.
Overall, visiting the New England Aquarium is an unforgettable experience that combines entertainment with education and promotes awareness about our planet's oceans. Whether you're a local resident or just passing through Boston on vacation, be sure to add this amazing attraction to your itinerary!
