Lovely hotel. It seems the bedt hotel of that area. All the services are good.

Grand, elegant and historic hotel well suited to large events. I had the pleasure of working with the Yak & Yeti as part of a conference recently and found their venue to be optimal for grand events.

As an historic former palace, the building is expansive and beautifully decorated in the style of old European royalty. Rooms range from fairly modern boardroom-style meeting rooms (20 ppl or so) to a huge gala hall (400 ppl or more). The hotel was also capable of partitioning rooms to allow for further subdivision, as we were a large group.

The staff were incredibly helpful, well trained and responsive. The tea and coffee service was fantastic, with staff present and offering refreshments throughout most of the day.

However, as a historic location, there are some predictable drawbacks, such as musty rooms on the upper levels. Some of the former balconies have been converted into rooms, with vast windows, and this makes them a bit like a greenhouse on warm days. For a power hungry convention, the lack of sockets is also a barrier. And perhaps most challenging is the obstacle of stable WiFi - a function of the area, Nepal's sometime patchy service and some thick walls. Plan ahead if WiFi and power are integral.

It took a little time for us to figure out a good working rhythm, as my sense is that the hotel is largely used for weddings and social events - for which it is perfectly suited. For a conference needing a few large and a few small rooms, the venue would probably be pretty perfect and well within the staffs experience and capabilities.

On a tangent, I must commend the chefs of Yak & Yeti for the food on offer in the Sunrise Cafe. It was to die for. A massive selection of western, Nepali and other Asian cuisines was on offer at all meal times and not a single dish disappointed. I would eat there every day if I had the option - perhaps the best food I've eaten yet in Nepal.

It is very central. Very beautiful garden. Correct room Bano justito. Does not speak Spanish. Scarce breakfast It is intolerable that a 5 star hotel Wi-Fi is PAYMENT !!!!

For the price that you pay, WiFi isn't free which is so disappointing

One of the oldest and best hotels in Kathmandu. A part of this hotel is in the old palace!

this is an oasis in the heart of kathmandu. and it's nothing at all like kathmandu! mostly a bunch of rich old people who want to tell their friends that they "roughed it out" in nepal, but spent the week playing tennis and lounging by the pool. when you go to kathmandu, you shouldn't be in a place like this but in a rented house or hotel room where you don't have a servant at your beck and call. the restaurant, however, is fantastic and not to be missed!

Good experience in this hotel, friendly staff and good service. Good breakfast and one of the places where you can eat good salads in Kathmandu. The pieces and especially the bathrooms somewhat outdated, but spacious. Good WIFI connection, nice garden.

Beautiful palace like exterior. Good service. Electricity goes off every now and then, but then quickly comes back. Some rooms have nicer view than others (so ask for a garden view).

A very good location, wonderful design but very expensive prices!

Being a 5 the hotel seems to be crumbling away with limited services and facilities. The staff at times are not that friendly sorry but I have been there number of times but the services from a 5 needs to be top notch.

Pros: Landscaping is good and location Durbar Marg is good
Cons: Check in was delayed by more than 1 hour ( 2nd time same experience). Priced very high. Toilets are not so clean.

I've been to Kathmandu nearly 50 times so far, but I'm staying at Yak & Yeti. I have been curious about the attitude of hotel employees. I have been driving for 30 years with the same friend, but his car is not a luxury car. I don't know that I don't like the shabby car lying next to the entrance because of the hotel's character, but it's not a good idea to see discrimination between Nepalese. I don't think Yak & Yeti's dignity will go down just because you don't ride in a non-luxury car. Thank you for your manager.

Hotel with good services. Costly but worthly, many tourist who came to visit Nepal like to stay here due to the good services provided by them. It also provide different facility like delicious food, seminar hall, meeting room, bedroom and many more with good service. Also the environment near hotel is fresh there is presence of garden for refreshment.
