My wife and I came here to have a nice birthday dinner for her. We both got the Steak Frites along with the sides of Heirloom Carrots and Roasted Brussels Sprouts. For dessert we got the House Spun Sorbet and a Raspberry Chocolate Tart. All of our food was fantastic and our service/server was very attentive and helpful with questions. Nice atmosphere as well with a real fireplace.

I'll start by saying our server was very nice and I'm sure tried his best, also pretty sure he was the only server for the whole of the indoor seating and quite possibly outdoor too. For some reason there were 3 hostesses but we saw our server 3-4 times in almost an hour and a half and he was hustling every time I saw him so was the food runner and busser; who we had to flag down for water after sitting with empty glasses (both water and cocktail) for 10 minutes. The food was fine. I don't know that it was worth $25 entrees but it was probably 4/5. Also the music was crazy loud and the poor couple that was sat before we left was put at a table whose candle danced with the bass because it was directly under a subwoofer.
Again the waiter busser and runner were great, the hostesses were nice and the food was fine. The manager just needs to add more useful staff and less hostesses and turn the music down; drunks don't need another excuse to yell. If we had paid 3/4 of what our bill was; probably 5 stars but as it is now... I guess they have a bunch of open tables if yer desperate and don't mind waiting.

Love the back alley entrance. On a Wednesday evening, there was a 30 minute wait for a table inside but snagged the last seats at the outside bar. Love the decor (string lights, high boys, tall cocktail seats with backs). I opted for a spicy tequila cocktail -delicious! We also ordered a cheese board that was a little skimpy on the cheese ($18 for 3 small cuts) but heavy on the board stuffs.

The pictures may have oversold how picturesque the place is. Decent champagne selection and no complaints about the food or the service, but for a place that had been rated as one of the most romantic restaurants in Chicago, it was just okay.

This is the perfect spot for a girls night or intimate date. The seating lends itself to cozy conversation and of course the delicious drinks help.

I love the candles in the fireplace and the textured wallpaper.

Kept us waiting for over 30 minutes. Did not update us or apologize. Essentially they said it was not their problem. Worst customer service ever experienced a long time. Poor etiquette. Don t plan to go back anytime soon.

I loved the ambiance and would definitely recommend the oysters and flatbreads. The staff was welcoming and our waitress was very kind but could improve on checking in with her tables. Overall, I had a good experience and it makes for a great date spot.

Tasty food, tried the Lyonnaise salad and the trout, both very good. Nice romantic ambiance, dim through out, although the loud music sort of kills it. The service was very nice. Thank you Heather

Had reservations at 8 and wasn't seated until almost 9. Food was good. Suggest going at off hours if you want to hold a conversation with your dinner date. Way too loud and tables too close together for a real enjoyable and/or romantic dinner.

Brunch here is excellent. I'm shocked this place was relatively empty. The seafood was fresh, flavorful and simply delightful. I cannot wait to come back here. We tried the Salmon Tartare, my personal favorite on the menu, the Lobster Deviled Eggs another must have and the Petite Seafood Platter which is a combination of all seafoods on the menu just in a smaller portion. And yu can't come here without ordering a glass (or 2) of champagne. I had the Rainy Day in Paris. Wow! The staff Mixologist made a martini with a red wine topper. Not sure of the name, I think we just came at the right time when he was experimenting. I give this place a well deserved 5 stars. Based on location, atmosphere, food, drinks, and attentiveness of staff. Good job, RM! :p

My husband and I just hosted our small wedding reception here on a Saturday afternoon & had a great experience. We worked with Bridget who was fantastic! I don't believe she works there anymore but she helped us pull off a great party and was so attentive to every phone call and email. Very professional service & the rest of the team including kitchen, serving, and bartenders also did an awesome job executing. We are so happy we chose RM! It was a great decision for an intimate reception that was fuss free and very enjoyable.

I can only speak for the drinks, which are delicious. The drinks are deceivingly strong, which can be read as a good or bad thing. I normally like a stronger tasting drink that errs more on the side of bitters/liquors for flavoring versus a sweeter aftertaste. This leads me to think that they're using more fruit juices than liquors, so the drinks here don't really rival what you would see at the Violet Hour or Maude's down the street. The atmosphere is charming and cozy, which definitely lends itself to be a great date spot or a fun place to grab an after work drink with a friend.

I liked the rustic look of this alley, the staff was very cordial. Beer selection is good, and they offer tasty flat breads, ordered the Classic (Smoked bacon, Caramelized onion and Comte Cheese) and the Fromage (cheese blends of Scarmoza, Parmesian and Goat Cheese) SUPERB!

Great outdoor space and fun champagne and cocktail menu. Need to be a little better staffed outside in the summer though, the patio was packed and there were no servers and only two very overworked bartenders outside.

About to close. At 7:30 on a Saturday night they were short-staffed, were out of about 50% of the menu items, and preferred to take cash. Sad story for the people there, but honestly don't bother, they will close down this week.

I looove me some bubbles and this place is one of my favorites to get just that. The dark, sexy ambiance is great for a date, or a few friends catching up over some champs.

They have great cocktails and options for bottles, in all different price ranges. I've always had great service, with in-depth descriptions of the drink selection.

The patio for warmer days looks adorable, too!

They do NOT serve brunch on Sundays despite taking our reservation for such. Very disappointing after paying for an Uber to get there. We did find a great brunch at Bar Siena around the corner though! Be wary of the phone brunch!!

I couldn't have had a better brunch experience! The waitstaff were incredibly attentive, and prepared with great recommendations on both cocktails and food. The ambience is what really takes the cake--the patio has such a romantic vibe but is definitely suitable for a girls night out. Can't wait to go back!

One of most romantic places in the city. Definitely a place to bring a date to. There's an oyster bar as well. They carry champagne and wine from all over the world. The friendly staff will let you sample few champagnes to determine which one you fancy. If you are on the budged, prices are little on the steep side - but worth it!

Down a long alley, hidden in the back, you actually feel like you are in Europe. The offerings are delectable...champagne, sparkling wine and bite size eats. Their selection of champagnes and wines is second to none. The ambiance is even better...stylish, quiet, sophisticated and cozy. A perfect place for a rainy afternoon.

Came here to celebrate my 26th birthday on a Saturday night around 930-10pm. Atmosphere was very club like with loud music and conversations not what I expected at all. Food wasn t great. Fries were brunt and cold, flatbread was not tasty and calamari was not crispy. We would have told our waiter these issues but he was no where to be found. Quite frankly, we only saw him about two times, he never checked up on us. We had to wait at least 30mins to receive our checks, since he took so long (over 15mins) to collect our check we had to go to the host desk to find him just to pay for our meal! Overall, I would not recommend this place especially on a Saturday night. Not worth your time or money.

I d love to rate this place, but after waiting 45 minutes after our reservations, with no communication from the 3 hostess working, we left.

Had there been any communication with us or even informing us that the tables at the bar are first come first serve, our experience would have been entirely different.

Terrible hospitality, thanks for ruining my 30th birthday dinner RM.

Went here for the Martini & Rossi Terraza Martini event.

You enter through the back, walking down the side entrance.

It was fun walking down the cobblestone pavement to the back of the locations patio.

You can sit either inside or outside on the patio.

The indoor is gorgeous with cloth-covered tables and a fireplace. The outdoor patio area is great for drinks and conversation or dinner with a loved one, where you can enjoy being outside on a nice warm day.

They also rent out the restaurant for events, and weddings, and have a unique way of personalizing your celebration.

We had lamb chops, meatballs, Pizza, as well as a nice array of cold cuts and cheeses.

The staff was friendly and very attentive, we had a great time. We will return here to have dinner one evening and enjoy the location another time.

I came here for the Sunday brunch which was hands-down the best brunch experience I've had in Chicago. At $24/person it's definitely a special occasion spot but it's so worth it. When I went the brunch buffet included two farm fresh eggs cooked to order, bacon and sausage, breakfast potatoes, bagels and lox with all the fixings, French pastries and French toast. The drinks are also a bit pricey (even for the area) at $14/each but they're absolutely delicious. I'd highly recommend for a special event or staycation.

Overall: RM is a prime date spot with a classy atmosphere and a solid drink menu.

The good: Tucked away next to the intoxicating Green Street Meats, RM has an expansive patio area with plenty of seating (doesn't mean there's always space). They have casual outdoor lighting and an easy-going vibe. The inside is even more impressive in case you're here in the colder months, with unique lighting and flair scattered throughout boojee seating. They also have a great selection of drinks with, of course, champagne.

The not-so-good: The service was a little slow later on in our stay, and it was a struggle to get the check when we hit a deadline. Also, the drink and food costs climb exponentially. It's a higher-end place, but it's still shocking how expensive some of the stuff can be.

Atmosphere: 10/10
Service: 7/10
Drinks: 8/10

Very eclectic atmosphere to the space. It also has a outside backyard like patio with lovely tiled tables to seat yourself into. Very well lit bar with an interesting tiled character on its wall. Really gorgeous at night when it has its lighting set up.

First off, I generally only feel comfortable making positive reviews. I try to consider all factors, people especially, when making reviews. Unfortunately, my honest review of my experience is not positive. I have previously had good experiences and had always thought of this RM Champagne to be a classy joint with delicious cocktails and fabulous service. Unfortunately, my most recent experience left me disappointed.

Comfy venue great for a date. The ambience is very nice, lights at night and the music is not too loud. Their drinks are pretty good and their wine selection rules. A bit expensive though. Friendly service.

LOVED. IT. It's all mysterious at first because you have to walk down Green street and there's no sign for the place, just look for the guy standing near a little alley right behind Nellcote.

As you walk down the alley, it just looks like an alley, but then as you approach the back, you see this amazing courtyard open up in front of you, and you know that you have just arrived at someplace special.

When you walk in, it's dimly lit with tall candlesticks burning on candelabras. There is so much to take in - the quirky art on the walls, the tassels hanging from the ceiling, and the beautiful people all around. It has somewhat of a vintage, urban feel, with a swanky vibe.

The champagnes are offered in a variety of price ranges (the glass I had was only $13 and very tasty), and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. After our server explained some of the champagnes, I asked him if he was a sommelier because he knew a little too much about the hints of this flavor and that, and it turns out that he was. These folks don't play around. They also have small bites, and mini desserts. One of the dessert menu items happened to be a souffle, which I will be getting the next time I go. Which will probably be tomorrow.

I m from Oklahoma, went to Chicago for my birthday (March 19th). My boyfriend made a reservation on the app (open table) that the restaurant has on their website. He booked it for 7:30. This was going to be our first experience and it was recommended by a local. We show up to a pizza place close to the restaurant to ask the host where R&M Champagne is located. The host then informed my boyfriend that 4-5 other people who had reservations ended up eating at their restaurant because R&M was closed. My boyfriend proceeded to go to the entrance of the restaurant and sure enough, closed. A man was locking the door behind him leaving the restaurant and my boyfriend caught up with him and asked why it was closed. He had no answer except for, we ve been closed for 2-3 days . There were no signs, no warning on the website and the man even said the hostesses were supposed to update the reservation info. They never did clearly because we had a reservation for 7:30. We had already paid for parking so I had to spend 30 trying to find another restaurant with available tables for my birthday dinner. I didn t want to go just anywhere and feel over dressed and uncomfortable. We ended up dining somewhere else. Had to call a LYFT from our parked car to the restaurant because it was not walking distance. Will not be visiting this restaurant if we come back to Chicago. Very disappointing. If you are from out of town, I would call the restaurant first and make sure they re open since they don t notify you on the website or app they recommend you make your reservation with.

Let's face facts: the atmosphere is atrocious. It's obnoxiously loud and dark. Quieter after 8pm, but also darker. The decor is try-hard edgy; closer to Cosmopolitan-Hotel-reject than French cafe. It's just plain uncomfortable. To their credit, the small wine and bubbly list is very well curated and the food is passable, but it's not enough to lure me back given their pretentiousness in price and location. Seriously, it was so loud. They had club-volume-level music on all night and club-length bathroom lines! No thanks.

Wow, this place is a gem. I love the atmosphere here, it's a great winter spot, nice and cozy with the roaring fire and kind of transports you out of the city. Our service was great and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and bubbly and make some great recommendations within our budget. We definitely did some damage though and were even comped dessert for the birthday girl!

Food wise, really amazing. Oysters was awesome, tar tar was great, fries very yummy, and flat breads were also great.

Definitely a good place for a date or GNO and we will be back soon!
