HORRIBLE customer service. Tried to purchase something online and the order kept rejecting supposedly due to their "fraud alarms". Are you kidding me??? For a $50 jacket?!!! I called and spoke with customer service to no avail. He was extremely rude and made it as though it was my fault and rushed me off the phone. How condescending, unprofessional and just plain ignorant can you be to someone who's trying to actually PURCHASE from your store?? Makes absolutely no sense.

UPDATE: 9/9/19 Despite the store's reply that someone from the customer service team was "doing research to figure out what's causing the problem and would connect with me," I have yet to hear anything from them. This is what i mean by HORRIBLE customer service.

Terrible!. Placed an order for 2 days now (paid extra for 2 day shipping) and it still hasn t been shipped out!!!!. First and last time here!. Sent email to cancel order. Hopefully I get my refunds quicker than my order... (I d better!) worst online shopping experience. Staff keeps lying that orders will be shipped!. Still nothing!!. The absolute worst experience!. My money better be returned else they ll be hearing from me!!

I would give it less than one star if I could. I placed an order for an item and was one of the first to do so. They cancelled my item and was not going to tell me about it. I called to inquire when my item was going to ship out and they had informed me that it was cancelled due to high demand and it was a computer glitch.

Contacted the store at 11:50am (normal store hours) to purchase a sneaker that was released today, March 14th. I was advised that the store is normally open at this time but is closed due to inventory and was informed that she wasn t sure when the store would open. I drove an hour just to get this notice. I would have appreciated a call back especially when I was prepared to make a purchase and drove an hour to support the store. Bad customer experience!

I order some Vans they had on sale. From the day I ordered them and how quick they got to me it was all a smooth transaction. Until I got my box. Have you ever seen Vans rectangular show box? My shoes came in a square shopping box. Smashed diagonally so it would fit. No tissue or any cardboard inside the Vans slip on to hold its shape until it got to me. Disappointed in the laziness that went into the packaging.

I placed an online order for Citizen jeans, after chatting with a helpful associate on the convenient chat system. The associate was able to advise on fit and the return policy. Love em, absolutely great price on sale. They charge tax in NY because they have a pop-up here, but I hope they open a location here sometime! I'm curious about their cheaper lines (Stelen, Farrow, Ganni) , but wouldn't risk ordering them without seeing in person.

Ordered a pair of sneakers and waited for a week before emailing them for updates. Was then informed that they were out of stock and was promptly sent a refund. It was displayed as "available" when I purchased the sneakers. Took the store a week to inform me that the sneakers were out of stock. Luckily I had emailed and asked for updates (after a week!) , god knows when they would've updated me with the unavailability if I didn't ask them.

Slow, sluggish and unprofessional.

Great store, I was in the RVA area recently and I'd heard about this place and figured I'd stop by. I was immediately impressed with the overall aesthetic inside and out. The store has a very minimal look to it and has women's clothing on one side and men's on the other, there is as well a main counter in the middle with anything in-between. The staff was really friendly and helpful, I purchased a Stone Island long sleeve and the man working there helped me with sizing and fit. The staff was very attentive and even opened the store early when they saw we were waiting. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back very soon!

DO NOT SHOP HERE. They are extremely ignorant and closed minded. In addition they cater the the African American culture BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN A AFRICAN AMERICAN WORKING THERE! Also if you are a minority then be prepared to be followed around the store. Need supply are culture appropriating and for that reason I can not support them and no one should! Somebody tell the staff at Need supply that following ppl around the store is not customer service and that they won t gain new customers or retain their current customers that way. It s extremely sad b/c RVA has very limited options but I refuse to shop from the RVA location.

Layout of the store was used an excuse for racial profiling! Went there on my lunch break to purchase sneakers and I was told that I was followed to the back of the store due to layout and the dark corners of the store where customers can not be "seen". I purchased sneakers there in August and went in today for another pair. BLACK customers beware! I will never spend another penny there and neither will anyone else I know! Wrong answer for today's racially sensitive climate. I was disgusted.

10 days to process my order, no help when I called. Claimed it was due to high volume of orders from their sale - give me a break. If I had known it would take 17 days to receive my shirt I would have gone elsewhere. Now I have to buy another shirt for the event I bought this one for.

I always stop by whenever I'm in RVA. Cool shop and great customer service. Employees are very knowledgeable about the brands that they carry. Price points are high but the quality is there.

Need Supply has always been my favorite menswear store to shop at when I'm in RVA. They are the quintessential lifestyle company, and their new renovation conveys that with a large section comprising of home decor, grooming products, and an array of niche publications. Plus their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful in assisting customers find what they need.

If you order online, BEWARE! They will take a minimum of 10 days just to process your order and not even ship it out.
I called the store after 1 week, gave my name and order number and was told by a girl that my item was being shipped that day as we spoke.
Its now been 5 days since I called and the order status online clearly shows "processing".
Its now been 12 days since placing my order and it has not shipped. Also the girl I talked to obviously did not look up my order and just lied to get me off the phone.
Terrible. Just horrible service.
Anyone reading this should consider a different store if you care about timely shipping and honesty.

I have been shopping on need supply for 3 years now (one day I'll go to the store in person!) and their products and customer service have been the utmost best. Their in house lines Stelen and Farrow are my favorite, and they have an excellent selection of luxury and affordable products.

This store may seem nice with it's focus on high end clothing at ridiculous prices, but do not let that fool you. They are pretentious and do not care about their customers. They had an amazing opportunity to represent the Richmond community and completely dropped the ball. They showed their lack of professionalism, integrity and ability to plan an event that ultimately turned into a riot.

After the event they had the power to make it right to the people who live in this area and they once again punted the ball and chose the easy way out. The easiest way to lose new customers is to not take care of your current ones. Do yourself a favor and avoid this store.

Pretty expensive, but some reasonable options as well. Very trendy minimalist store design. I love the their new store line NEED. All high quality American made goods. If you live local, take advantage of the warehouse sales online orders with local pickups.

I also had similar terrible experience as other reviewers. I waited for my tracking number for 11 days and haven't get any update email for shipping ,so I contacted to customer service and that said that the item is out of stock. Why they didn't update my order status and should let me know before sale end in another shopping sites. When I ordered the item, it shows stock and had several sizes. Still they charged total amount my credit card so fat. I should call to get refund and they doesn't offer anything this kind of terrible online shopping experience.

If you're visiting Richmond this is a MUST SEE. The new store is one of the most well-curated stores I've ever entered. Best for finding specialty items and emerging brands that you will not encounter anywhere else; definitely not for those seeking disposable goods. This is a luxury/specialty brand retailer whose items are more like art than simple bric-a-brac or boring body coverings.
