Catering is not the best 20 min wait for a hamburger. The terrace was cleared by someone throwing the one-meter aluminum chairs at the table. Slightly outdated buildings but they are renovating. There are few play areas for children, but a clean park

This place is great for everybody. A must visit. The kids will love it as will adults. It big and you can see everything easily. You can spend as lot of time here. Places to eat and drink and picnic if you want. They have maps to help you get around. It is easy to reach on the tram.
Very large zoo in the heart of the city. Really friendly staff. Free entrance with iAmsterdam-card. Great place to visit! Near public transport. Amazing aquarium!
One of Europe's oldest zoos. Just open: new designed cage for two jaguars. Recent births of elephant and giraffe. Recommended attraction is the butterfly garden.
On my third visit to Amsterdam, on the advice of friends who had previously been there, I paid a visit to this zoo in the park of Amsterdam, and what to say! Amazing! As soon as you enter you are immersed in the greenery, with birds of all kinds in total freedom that flutters over your heads as you turn the different animals from all over the world through the host buildings! The most appreciated thing from my point of view was the area of the monkeys, in total freedom and you can walk among them! While I was walking passing under a branch for example there was one hanging above me that was eating a bite! area of the butterflies, also in total freedom within this pavilion which reproduces their climate then, is a riot of colors and varieties absolutely to be admired! the aquatic part is less complete, but for the rest there is everything and every animal has its right freedom and companionship! to see if you visit Amsterdam!
I visited this zoo coming from Australia and it has to be one of the worst zoos I've seen. The enclosures are very small, especially for animals who need large spaces to roam, the environments in the exhibits were unsuited for most of the animals, from the flora to the substrate. Animals from completely different environments and which would have different needs were also housed together which I have never seen in a zoo before. Some animals were also showing signs of stress and boredom such as pacing back and forth.
ARTIS has very beautiful grounds but it is clear that they do not actually care for the animal's wellbeing.
Love Artis zoo! One of our favourite zoos we have visited before. We came back here for the 2nd time (our last visit was 6 years ago) It's changed quite a bit with new areas and better quality exhibits for some of the animals. There's still work being done to improve all the time so will be good to come back again in another few years.
I've seen a few zoos but this is special. In many areas there are few or no barriers, you are literally walking through animal enclosures. The personnel is very helpful, ask about anything if you're curious! And the butterfly room... It's like being in a fairytale. Couldn't recommend this place enough, it's most definitely worth your money.
Went here for the Children's Beast Party To give sick children and their brothers / sisters a GREAT day. And all this in collaboration with all emergency services and Artis I hope all participants have enjoyed it
To properly visit Artis you need a whole day! Book that in your planner and you will not be sorry! We were misled by information in a booklet and lost a hour in planned visit to Artis, so had to hurry to see most animals and attractions . It was worth it!
Very beautifull! It is really big as Zoo the honest entrance ticket the only one is that Micropia museum is not included with it, as far as the Zoo is concerned it is also possible to play with the monkeys that are around, it is so big that you will surely lose a whole day but it will be well spent!
Really amazing zoo. Very big and well organized. Right way to spend 2-3 hours. Children had much fun. Many place where to eat inside and around the zoo. A must see in Amsterdam.
The new enclosures of elephants and jacquars have been beautifully constructed. The old building where the aquarium is housed, still in its original state. Small mammals a lot of indoor space. I used to get depressed from a day at the zoo because I found that the animals were kept in far too small pens, in this respect much has changed for the better for the animals and not only at Artis Zoo.
We visited only for the elephants, got to the elephant enclosure and it was empty. Then went to the elephant indoor enclosure where 2 adults and a baby where in a small cage. One of the adults looked like she was dancing moving her feet side to side and this is due to stress. We waited around for the elephant talk at 1.45 and no one turned up. Didn't see many staff at all around the whole zoo. The best parts where the aquarium and the reptile house where you could sit inside and keep warm. There was also a school trip where the teacher sat 20 or so children infront of enclosures to draw pictures so couldn't see much anyway.
An excellent animal gem contains lots of types of animals and much more than expected including tiger lions elephants giraffes seals fish and all aquatic creatures and more and more. Take 4 to 5 hours. Equip yourself with water and food and enjoy.
Relaxed zoo with open style enclosures for personal viewing. A good selection of animals from big cats, various monkeys, to noisy seals with underwater viewing. Worth a visit if your bored 23euro entry.
It is a nicely done ZOO. Although I enjoyed the one in Copenhagen best for its proximity to the animals this has a better variety of and some good activities for children. The area where they have the aquarium is quite nice as well. But there were lots of areas that were empty. I suppose they are expending. It is a nice place to spend the afternoon with family if the weather is nice.
Very beautifully landscaped garden. Friendly for families. Different enchantments for children. Very many different animals. The most beautiful zoo so far. I recommend.
An extensive zoo with a great variety of animals. Also includes an aquarium and planetarium. There are a couple of cafes on-site or near by. Wander for a couple of hours. Eat. And then wander some more. Can easily fill a day. Great place for kids. I docked one star because the penguins (even with their very cute condos, accentuating their life-time monogamy) really need fresher and more water. Other than that, the animals seemed well-cared for and happy.
We have been a member for over 60 years. We come here every year. Sometimes once, but more often, if the weather permits. Park is becoming more animal-friendly every day. Recommended if you visit on Amsterdam.
A really great zoo. Of course the space for the lions is not abundant, but you cannot give 5 hectares to every animal. But I think the zoo tries to give every animal a nice "home". The bird house and butterfly house are really good because all animals move freely. The elephants also have it beautiful. If you look at everything, you are well and happy to be on the road for 3-4 hours. The price of 21.50 is quite justifiable if you ask me. A lot is offered. We really liked it. I can only recommend it.
I felt very good, and it was something special for me that I had the opportunity to see in such a short time such a great diversity of animals! I highly recommend ...
