I recommend travellers to avoid Saudi airlines and this airport too. Worst experience! Pilots seem not well trained. During our flight, we almost had a near death experience, while manoeuvring clouds. I ve had at least 200 flights till date with different airlines and I know how well other pilots handle turbulence.
In airport, racist behaviour observed. They make Indians remove belt and shoes in security check during a transit while allowing other nationals to pass through without having to remove the same.

To add to this, there are some illogical rules:

1. Even if you re just staying at Airport (not going out of its premises at all) during your transit, you need to have a transit visa well before your flight, if your transit time exceeds 12 hours, and for most of the nationals, online transit visa option doesn t exist, they need to visit embassy

2. The Alcoholic beverages bought in duty free airport shops are not allowed as hand baggage! Instead, you need to put them in any of your hand bag ( since you d have already checked-in your big luggage and the same would no more be accessible) and send it as 2nd check in baggage, to be received at your destination. When asked about possible damage to the glass bottle, the officer just throws an advice to complain at the destination airport if the bottles are damaged. Totally impolite and not customer friendly.

Over all dissatisfied, even one star rating is too much. Please consider the above points when booking Saudi airlines or even when travelling through Saudi Arabia.

I d never take Saudi airlines nor visit Saudi Arabia in my lifetime again.

Non-muslims (specially Asians) are treated like animals by airport personalles so don't fly through Riyadh if you don't wanna get treated like an animal. Third class airport.

The airport has new rule because of the covid 19...the arrival area was not that crowded..they have a good discipline and only one entry and one exit is available

The airport is a bit dated compared with newer ones in UAE, Qatar and elsewhere in the middle east. During peak hours at the International departure, the waiting area at the gates can be congested and crowded. As far as amenities, there are not much it in my opinion. Shopping or duty free shopping is relatively limited.

My last visit to the airport was 6 years ago, and this year I visited 2018 and noticed the great development that took place in the airport lounges. There is an independent air lounge with its own parking spaces and there are two international flying halls. And positions where there is short duration of long duration of three days and increase.

Decent and clean facilities. Lot of food shops and cafes to choose from.

The international terminal feels like a local fish market !

Be careful about your hand luggage when you came from domestic airports of Saudi Arabia to connecting International flight. Normally domestic Saudi airport don't check your hand carry weight or size when your departure. So even they allowed you, you will stuck on Riyadh airport as they check the size and weight of hand carry and if its size or weight exceed they don't allowed you to departure lounge. And ask you to just go to airline counter and give your carry on bag as a checked in baggage where they charge you huge money. In my case one of the domestic airport allowed me a bit oversize hand carry bag. But when I reached the Riyadh airport the guy before the security told me your bag is large and just give it to Saudia check in counter where he ask me it cost 618 SAR. I told them that why you allowed this hand carry from your domestic airport at first place but they don't listen. And that bag and items are not even wort the 618 SAR. So finally after no choice left I left this bag on trash can on the airport and proceed with without that hand carry. So
be careful. Also don't bring plastic shopping bag as hand carry because they also don't allowed them as hand carry on International fight. You have to either to buy a cheap quality hand carry from airport or left your bag at trash can.
