A nice museum with modern construction for showing contemporary art and a traditionally designed set of galleries for the more classical pieces. Good gift shop, restaurant and performance space as well. Permanent collection has a few fine pieces including Vermeer, Rembrandt, Sisley, and Pissarro. Local artists effectively integrated. This is worth a visit but to see it you should plan to spend 3 to 4 hours at a minimum.

It is not huge but has several paintings that deserve it.
it is always free, apart from temporary exhibitions. These are usually small and cost a lot (like 15 ) but well thought out.
On Thursday it remains open for longer and the exhibitions are discounted.
There is a nice bar to stop by.

Fantastic layout in a modern style and huge range of art to suit all tastes and types. Delighted to have seen my first Caravaggio. Highly recommend you spend a couple of hours if you visit the city

My husband and myself visited the National Gallery today to view the Turner Exhibition. John was using his wheelchair today and a lovely member of staff coming back from her lunch break took to the exhibition by a shortcut. The exhibition was wonderful and all the staff could not have more friendly and helpful. Thank you all.

Free! There are paintings by renowned painters, but it seems to me that it is not very didactic. You need more information in the legend of the box, when entering a room ... But it is very good to do something different that is free.

Beautiful collection of variety of styles. The most interesting for us was the stained glass room. Admissions are free, there are public restrooms and a cafe. Also, Merrion square playground is just across the road from this. Run off some energy, have a pick nick and Nourish your soul in the gallery. Great day out.

Love this beautiful gallery, so many impressive works to see. Very impressive to see in person, photos don't communicate all the beautiful brush strokes, technique, and proportions of the figures and other subjects conveyed on canvas or wood. I recommend making time to come in and see for yourself.

Love the new wing! The large room with the double staircase is amazing. Great place to see Irish art and some pieces by the classic European painters. Went to see Canaletto exhibition recently and it was very well laid out and the audio guides were great too. Highly recommend for a rainy day and of those there are plenty in Dublin!

Really loved this gallery. The variety of the paintings is really appreciable, but I had a sort of discussion with the staff because of the description of "David and Goliath" of Orazio Gentileschi, that was totally wrong. I suggest to improve the quality of this kind of thing.

What I love about Dublin is that we don't charge into our museums & galleries. We value the arts and feel these galleries belong to the people, valueing the arts above money.
This means the arts don't become an elite niche interest but a cultural right.
Because of this, I have frequently visited our glorious Irish artists and the best of world art, Money, Picasso, etc. In the most spacious, light filled calm environment you can imagine. Enjoy top class good in the restaurant and the gift shop is a must to pick up a trdsdured momento of your visit. Enjoy !
