It is a non-profit cultural organization in the year 1979, and its main goal is to encourage cultural diversity and spread knowledge of contemporary art. The association has participated in various activities in cooperation with museums and international institutions in order to support the achievement of cultural dialogue and artistic exchange.
The association established the Jordan National Museum of Fine Arts, which was inaugurated in 1980, and its unique collection of modern and contemporary works consists of more than one thousand eight hundred works that include paintings, prints, sculptures, photographs, artistic installations, textiles and ceramic works by more than 700 artists from 45 countries, most of them from Asia, Africa and America Southern.
In order to expand the original space of the National Museum in Jabal Al Weibdeh, the Royal Society of Fine Arts acquired a building located opposite the current building and between them is a park. This building, which was built in the 1950s, is now undergoing restoration work.
The Royal Society of Fine Arts and the Jordan National Museum of Fine Arts organize lectures, seminars and workshops. In addition to its exhibition catalogs, the association and the museum publish books on classical and contemporary art from Islamic and Arab cultures.

The gallery was fine, some interesting pieces but I did not feel welcome. I was told I could not bring my child s pram in but I argued that she was too heavy for me to carry and the guy eventually agreed to let me bring it after I promised I would be careful. Wouldn t want to be in a wheel chair if they have a no wheels policy.
Also, it opened at 9am but at 9:40 I tried to get a coffee at the cafe as the reviews say it s great and the cafe guy who was vacuuming told me to come back in 10 minutes and was not very friendly. I also couldn t check out the gift shop as it was still closed with a big sign saying open at 9am??? So I just left and went elsewhere for a coffee. A bit disappointing really.

Very well curated and displayed, this is a small, but very worthwhile gallery to visit. The two-story room on the main floor was well lit and accommodated large scale pieces with plenty of wall space. I will definitely return to see the regularly updated pieces on display. The cafe upstairs is a welcome and comfortable place to relax with a friend, read one of the many art-themed books available or hold a meeting or discussion.

I'm not some one who hangs out at art galleries.

We were in Jordan and explored around and ended up there. It was awesome. They had contemporary, funky, retro art on display. It's my understanding they have different displays from time to time.

The coffee shop up stairs is the funkiest place I've been in a while. Fell in love with Jordan that day as Jordanians have a story to tell and they do it very well through their art.

Love it! Well displayed and presented , despite it didn't have an extensive collection! Love also the little cosy coffee with an amazing top view Amman! The mini-shop is also really nice with handcraft-souvenirs!

Pleasantly surprised by the calibre of work here. We were lucky enough to hear Muhanna Al-Dura speak about his work, career and life. A unique experience hearing from someone who's been producing art for 71 years now!

Located in a nice neighborhood with two main buildings and a park. The mix of art and artists is interesting, well presented exhibits and there is a great cafe and roof terrace to relax and enjoy a bit to eat or a good cup of coffee.
