A wide collection and several other displays ruined somewhat by over-zealous security guards.

Free admission, it's worth spending half a day there to see works by Scottish artists and from other parts of the world.

A bit surprised that it isn t a huge gallery like the one in London; does have fantastic collections nonetheless. I got to spend more time appreciating artworks while tagging along the tour occasionally. It was a wonderful and enlightening experience.

Free museum, pictures of very important painters, the museum is very small

I've been to several museums around the world and this is definitely in my top 3. It's small enough that the experience is very up close and personal, the curation is very straightforward and very well done, and the art pieces are very iconic. It's a great place to get a global idea to different iconic art movements in Europe. It isnt a place to go for a specific artist (except maybe for scottish artists). Highly recommended!

Fantastic collection of art, representative of the best in Western culture. The entrance is free but you can donate something, I would recommend it as it helps keep this collections open to all.

It looked very small at first but there are a ton of paintings. It's also free so can't do anything wrong

Surprising this museum or gallery has a great variety of paintings from different eras, let's say it is not a great art gallery for the quantity but if for the quality, it is worth spending at least a couple of hours you will have a very good taste

A good varied gallery full of great masters. The painting by Ruben with the presentation of head of John the Batist head made a big impression on me.

You can enjoy the work of Rafaello in free admission.

A masterpiece after another. There are many works by Tiziano and Canova. All in a perfect structure for exhibitions. A milestone in Edinburgh.

Museum of painting in Edinburgh. Great painters and great works, even Spanish painters ... Ribera, Zurbaran, el Greco. .. take a break in the city tour. Free entrance.

Free entry, great selection of art throughout different periods of time/styles. Only thing I'd change is that it would be interesting to know where the paintings came from (ie private collection or donation etc) and some more history on the artists themselves

Got some lovely paintings here. They also put them on rotation so you don't always see the same stuff.

Dutch flower paintings are my favourite.

As most reviews have highlighted this is an extensive collection of art.

If your ever in Edinburgh and you have a spare hour or two I recommend going to view .

Museum beautiful and also free. It has many Renaissance and Scottish paintings, some really beautiful. Mandatory visit if you are in Edinburgh!

Was sorry to hear that Lady Agnew is on loan, but the galleries here are beautiful.

I came in by chance, but it was much better than I thought. It was free of charge and there were a lot of famous works. The bosigil necessarily recommend a visit.

I'm not a great fan of art and such but was nice to walk around this gallery. Big rooms with plenty paintings, each has a little side note next to it to explain what's the story behind it.

The Scottish National Gallery is one of the National Gallery of Scotland. The National Gallery of Scotland is located in The Mound in central Edinburgh. The building is neoclassical and was designed by William Henry Prefair. The first time it was opened to the public was in 1859. The National Gallery of Scotland houses a collection of Scottish artists and works by foreign artists from the Renaissance to the early 20th century.

Highly Recommended. Free entry and great paintings. Even Gauguin and Degas hang here.

Manageable sized gallery with at least one painting by just about everyone you've heard of. Well displayed and curated.
