Superb array of paintings. From the skating minister to the Monarch of the Glen. The paintings are themed well and give you a good sense of the important collections on display. The building is so central to Prince's Street and the architecture is gorgeous. They are undergoing renovation work at the moment which will give them more to display. When we visited we wanted to see more.

An unmissable museum, a little like all those you will find in this fabulous city.
To visit it well everything would take some time, but you can first choose the sections that interest you most and go and visit them.
Admission is free and a small donation is welcome.
A moment to spend an afternoon in the city

Bad service, we went to see an exibition but we were told it was going to start the day after, so we went again the next day and we were told that in that day the exibition was not ready yet and that it was going to start in the evening, so we went again the next moring and again we were told it was only for private members and it was going to open to the public at 2 o' clock PM, so we went back again at 4 o clock and 30 minutes later they started to announce they were closing (closing time should be at 5 PM) The cashier of the shop doesn't even know what they sell.

With free admission you can see beautiful works of art in several rooms. The gallery itself is divided into 2 buildings between which one can go back and forth. The building, which is located directly on the main street, shows several current exhibitions, whereas the rear building has a consistent exhibition of old artists.

One of the most beautiful museums in Edinburgh.

One of the most beautiful museums in Edinburgh.
Completely free, it offers a wide range of paintings coming from all over Europe and many different artists.
Some areas of the museum are still under construction but will be completed shortly with even technological improvements.
Highly recommended if you visit Edinburgh.
