Very nice selection of birds. A fun place to go with my 1 yr old grandson! He enjoyed it also!
Very nice selection of birds. A fun place to go with my 1 yr old grandson! He enjoyed it also!
They aviary was beautiful and well maintained. Lots of birds and the baby sloth was adorable! Definitely worth a trip.
I'm a member here and me and my daughter love to come here they have events every single day and kids can interact with the birds. the gift shop is really nice too.
We were very excited to go to the Aviary and it did not disappoint! The displays are lovely and well cared for and in many the birds are not confined. They swoop right past you! The informational displays were interesting and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. We watched a penguin feeding and we even got to see them walking a 2 week old African Crane. Can't wait to go back!
Such a great date spot or a chill spot for those with kids. There are birds here which don't even exist in the wild anymore. Be sure to plan for the penguin feeding and the hanging with the bats exhibits !
I love the Aviary. Good for Pokemoning, and awesome for the birds. It's one of my favourite places to escape from the grossness of Pittsburgh.
Very nice place to take the family. My kids enjoyed feeding the Lorikeets :)
I love this place and always make a point of coming here when I'm in Pittsburgh. They have amazing birds and programs, and their conservation awareness raising is great. I've spent many an awesome day here, would recommend anyone who likes animal (especially birds) to visit!
The aviary has several themed rooms where you can wander and see the birds as they perch in trees or fly overhead. There were a huge array of birds and they even had a craft show going the day we were there where many folks made bird paintings, scarves, knitted birds, etc. It is not very big as we went through the entire museum in less than 2 hours, but it was worth the trip.
Extremely friendly volunteers, such beautiful birds and great exhibits with lots of info, I'd love to come back one day. Even their gift shop has cute stuff for good prices.
Love to take the kids here. Such a beautiful place to visit
This was a wonderful experience. So much was immersive and the staff was so friendly and knowledgeable.
Very enjoyable. Lots of birds. The penguins are funny.
I took our four boys there on a Sunday afternoon and we all had a great time. We got to see the penguin feeding. It is worth the trip.
Great place for kids. Many colorful exhibits where you can experience the birds up close.
Under some construction right now but they make up for it by offering complimentary interactive encounters. My boys loved it!
Amazing experience from owls to vultures to penguins there is a lot to see here. The exhibits are a lot more interactive that I expected such as open areas and bird feeding. Great place for kids and adults of all ages.
Educational and interesting. Staff very knowledgeable and caring.
Been living in Pittsburgh for 8 years and finally made it to the Aviary. I don't know what took me so long to get there!
It is great - immersive, colorful, and fun! Definitely worth a trip... And a great wedding venue if you are looking for a place.
Got to take part in the penguin package and it was amazing! If you love penguins I would highly recommend it!
My most favorite place. Super peaceful and the birds are very well taken care of. Pretty okay pricing for one visit, but if you live near, I recommend you become a member instead! The membership pays for itself within 4 visits!
Small-scale but packed with varsity and beautiful examples of birds and other animals.
Had fun with my family over the Easter weekend there! We visited the Amazing Amazon exihibit, experienced birds flying around us and saw a sloth! Everything was great!
I had my daughters first birthday here and it was so much fun. The prices for the room and food were very reasonable. The fact that our guests received all day admission to the Aviary was a great perk. The catering from Atria s was very good as well!
Pricey AF but i enjoyed it. Never thought too much about birds before, but it was nice. They had a live demo with a few exotic birds for us and plenty of open rooms that make you feel like you are actually in the jungle
We loved our trip to the Aviary! This is my second time there and it was just as fascinating as the first.
We had a great time. Lots of interesting things to do
The VR bird flight was really cool but 2 minutes is too short. Overall wonderful place to go.
Pricing may seem a little steep but you'll get an amazing experience for your money.
Unprecedented opportunity to get up close with animals.
Lots of birds and live demonstrations... a wonderful penguin exhibit and more exhibits on the way.
Very nice place for families with young and older children. Interactive habitats, varieties of birds, indoors and outdoors. Good giftshop items. You can visit in cold and warm weather.
Amazing sights to see, great and knowledgeable staff and very clean atmosphere. Takes about an hour to walk through and that's at a leisurely pace. I would reccomend this highly to anyone!
I learned so much and the place is beautiful... Which is hard to do with birds everywhere!
I love the aviary
It's Kinda loud in there
Relatively small but a quality attraction. There is a calendar of activities that occur every 30 minutes, including penguin and toucan feeding, and other "experiences", so there is always something going on. For a small extra cost, you can feed the rainbow lorikeets, who will land on your arms, and you can take photos with them.
Do you like birds? Well have I got a place for you! I saw like at least 8 different birds! Look... Look at these birds!
Glad I took my kids here I have good memories of coming here as a kid. So much more in there now than when I was young. Great exhibits, staff is friendly, the place is kept clean and easy to navigate. You can go through in a day and they have a cafe inside to get a bite to eat.
My son, who loves penguins, got to live his dream and see a bunch of African penguins up close, as well as bring home a painting made by a penguin.
Love this place, it's almost magical. Also like to say this isn't a zoo this is a conservation. All funding goes toward the continuance of species endangered or close to, as well as research. So support the cause and feed a bird or better yet have one swoop down and eat a fish out of your hand.
We did the Penguin Experience and it was amazing! It's an amazing Aviary and totally worth the price of admission!
Professional staff and great displays. Not very big so great for a two or three hour visit. You do go into habitats with birds flying by you.
I was pleasantly surprised by the aviary and really impressed that you get to be up close and personal with the animals. The staff is also really friendly, will definitely be back!
The exhibits are nice and the birds are very active. I think that the prices are a little steep though,it cost 29 dollars for me and my 10yr old son to get in and we went through the place in about 20 min. If you have a bigger family this place would be too expensive to visit
Why is this $16 ? I guess like the rest of the world, the national gallery is only for rich people. You can't make it $10??? Really really? Exclusion of classes, just like in art.
A must see when you are in the Pittsburgh area, great exhibits! Very enjoyable. Inexpensive too!
It isn't huge, but it is really fun. Plenty of rooms with birds flying around to walk through, and a couple mammals for good measure.
Compact themed out aviary where the birds fly free in their natural habitats. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff who know their birds by name
I loved seeing all of the birds! They got so close to you. They landed on you! I was mesmurized!
My daughter can't wait to go back next year. She loved the Hiacenth Macaw. I loved the Bald Eagle exhibit. Our zoo doesn't have close access to the Eagles.
This place was in the process of renovation. Birds were moved from their original habitat to rooms where public could still visit. The large central room where most of the birds had been was empty due to new construction. Even though renovation was underway, we still enjoyed the visit
Great place to visit with kids. Nicely organized and clean. Greatly liked the tropical area, wetlands when the birds just fly above our heads. Lots of different species of birds. Nice place to visit for at least half a day. There is also a nice cafeteria, even though we didn't dine there.
Very immersive when you go! Several of the exhibits the birds roam around freely and you can see them right in front of you with no glass! Exhibits are well done and very fun!
Fun place to check out on Father's Day! Definitely check out the butterfly tent, it is fully interactive AND included in the price of admission!
Just a wonderful and delightful place if you love birds. A must see in Pittsburgh!
Went here with my girlfriend who has never been to the aviary before. The experience was great. They have various themed rooms with different birds depending on the environment. As you make your way through each room you have a chance to see different feedings depending on the schedule. The schedule is provided for you with a map of the entire aviary. We got to see the Wetlands feeding and the eagle feeding. We also saw the show that was being done that day which was about the birds in the Amazon. The birds come out in intervals and even fly over the crowd. Definitely worth checking out if you have kids or are looking for a fun date with your significant other.
Smaller than I expected for a place that claims "National" in its title. Beautiful birds, especially in the open desert and tropical enclosures. However, it was sad to see the limited space for some of the larger birds, e.g. condor and eagles. A bit pricey but it costs a lot of money to care for all the animals. A great educational resource for children.
A bit expensive but the price helps out the birds. When you go be ure to get a schedule of the events that happen daily, it's fun to feed the birds.
Such a wonderful place especially for kids. So much interaction and you get so close to the animals. Would highly recommend
We really had good time, We enjoyed aviary, amazing atmosphere
Very disappointed in my experience here. Admission prices are at least double what they should be. The place is extremely small, and can be seen in under 45 minutes. Would not recommend it to anyone over the age of 10. Children might find the penguins and various birds interesting. However, if you dont have children save your money and go elsewhere.
Visited for a wedding and it was gorgeous! It rained where we were supposed to hold the ceremony, but they were quick to accommodate with a beautiful theater room. They even brought in an owl for us to take pictures with. Great attraction, great venue!
Fantastic place to explore birds in their habitats. Amazing staff who are so knowledgeable and willing to share information. The penguin exhibit us a definite favorite of ours. They also have amazing outreach programs in the community. I highly recommend for all ages.
Really nice aviary. Not very full on a Wednesday afternoon, so very easy to take our time and see everything without crowds.
One of the true gems in the great city of Pittsburgh!
Was there for my niece's wedding, they did a very nice job.
Fun place to visit, though a bit crowded and not enough parking
Pittsburgh should be proud to have a national institution and the only Aviary at that! love the penguin exhibit!
Just loved it!! I got to meet Valentino the sloth and spent 30 minutes feeding and petting him! The tour guides were very informative and answered all of my many questions about him. The price to have an encounter like this is well worth it! I can't wait to do it again!! After meeting him, we wandered the grounds and saw Wookie their other sloth, bald eagles, bats, flamingos, peacocks, and so many other beautiful birds!! This place is just another example of what a great city Pittsburgh is!! Will definitely be back!
**Also, it was very wheelchair accessible. I had no problems navigating the grounds and could see everything pretty clearly.
Great place for everyone to visit. Highly recomended.
A day at the aviary was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed it so much we decided to buy a membership.
Definitely a must go to if your in Pittsburgh. The birds are great and so is the food at the cafe. There homemade soups, salads and daily specials are amazing for such a little cafe
They are remodeling but birds moved and it will b open next month
A great place to spend a few hours and see a bunch of interesting birds from around the world. I bought a painting from the gift shop that was painted by some of the avian residents, which was very cool.
