Mutu’s Italian Kitchen Review

Service was really good and our waiter (Matt) was very accommodating and had outstanding knowledge of the menu. We had a birthday party of 8 to which they were able to get us in just hours before. I had the special of the day and the filet mignon was cooked just the way I ordered it. Everyone s dish came out the same as ordered and all were delicious with not a single complaint. The chef (Dylan) even came out to check and see how we enjoyed our meals and did an amazing job preparing them. This was our first visit and we will definitely be back. WELL worth every penny!

Atmosphere is great. Prompt attentive service. Good wind. I had the chicken tortellini. Grilled chicken was dry & tough. Best part of the dish was the sauce. Salad was delicious. And the basil/dried tomato butter for bread was a pleasant surprise.

Food out of this world. Make reservations. Wait staff very attentive.

Food was very good, service was excellent (Zach was the server's name), really nice atmosphere. Online menu shows some items, that were not on the menu inside. Had a couple of local micro brews on tap as well.

Please bottle your bleu cheese dressing!!! EVERYTHING was delicious

It was a great experience. My wife and I both got seafood pasta and really enjoyed it. I had the pistachio crusted Mahi I think and my wife had a shrimp pasta dish. We really enjoyed both. They had a nice tea selection and the service was excellent. The veggies were a little on the simple side but honestly it was nice having a healthy side after all the heavy food in Durango. The restaurant atmosphere was very pleasant and had great music playing in the background. Dessert was excellent. Anytime we're in town we're definitely making a stop here.

I took my girl friend to Mutu's for her birthday whilst adventuring in Durango because I had ordered take out a month prior (the champagne salmon dish) and it was so good TO GO, I felt it worth returning. We weren't disappointed. My friend is vegetarian and had several options to choose from, the patio was lovely and our server, Nick, even gave us highly detailed suggestions on where to paddle board nearby. I like to try new places every time but made an exception for Mutu's and would do so again - thanks Mutu's!

Awesome dining experience. Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. The pasta pescatore was excellent. My husband had the pork porterhouse and it was great too. Would highly recommend it if you are traveling through Durango.

Fantastic choice for dinner! It was absolutely delicious, top notch service and the tiramisu was the best I have ever had. We will definitely be back!

I feel the need to brag on this establishment on the meal i received this evening. I own a restaurant, and often don't buy into such things, but Mutu's excelled in every aspect of our meal and a rousing review is appropriate. We arrived with our party of six to a well filled house. Nevertheless, we were seated promptly, our server (Kelly or Kate, can't quite remember) was very nice and professional. She offered detailed explanations of the specials, one of which I chose. I had a dish of grilled pork loin, with cheese tortellini topped with julienned vegetables and spinach, with a few peas hiding in there as well. The pork was moistened with what I believe was some kind of red wine sauce, with blackened onions on the top. My meal was exemplary! I try to leave good reviews when things are good, but this meal was worthy of further detail. The pork was cooked to perfection, the veggies were done just right, the pasta was fantastic, and the entire meal was simply better than a five star review can cover. Our entire party agreed that this was one of the best meals we have had. Well done staff. This is one to brag about!

I love this place! The service is always great, and the food is always amazing. Probably the best place for pasta in Durango.. I like the stuffed shells with garlic cream sauce instead of whatever sauce it comes with. The cheese tortellini with chicken is also awesome and my boyfriend loves the chicken parmesan.

Meh - you get what you pay for: the antipasto was all canned grocery store quality. And an aperol spritz is made with prosecco, not sprite.

Went to Mutu's on a Saturday night, hit a table right away, very good service, yummy inventive Italian food and good beer - what's not to like?

I've dined here many times over the years. Always consistent, great wine selection and courteous staff. Sidewalk patio in the summer is really nice.

I would give no stars if I could. This place used to be great. Do NOT eat here - you will be sorry. I constantly went here and recommended a lot of people to attend as well. Last time I was in, I brought 2 friends. We all ordered the chicken parm. When it was brought to our table we began to eat and we smelled something really bad. All three of us. Normally, restaurants, reuse pasta water to make a couple of batches. I don't know what they did but our pasta smelled so bad - like dirty sockes. We told the waiter and he comped one of the meals. I was astonished that the manager didn't come over to apologize or just act like they care. I will never eat here again - I would recommend you go elsewhere. Terrible food and the service should have been more caring.

If you are looking for a place with real Italian food this is it for the Durango area. The dishes are all well done and taste amazing. The staff is polite and the restaurant atmosphere is unique, we love being sat on the balcony. Unique place with real food and tastes of Italy.

Four of us came for some food on a very NOT busy Sunday night. We waited about 15 minutes for drinks to make their way to the table, as in they all came out at different times, not one of which was a difficult drink. Then they didn t have one of the main ingredients for one of the dishes, it was offered to be left out. 45 minutes in we got our appetizers, which were tasty but not 45 minute wait tasty. An hour in and still no food, however three other tables around us showed up, ordered, ate and left. After over an hour the food came out, breading soggy and veggies cold, to top it off my food came with chin hair in it. Asked to speak to the manager/owner not only did he not care he avoided coming to our table to speak with us. Horrible service and disappointment the manager didn t even apologize for the horrible experience and he argued with me about the curly brown facial hair! I m a blonde woman and last I checked pretty clean shaven! So here is some advice: know your menu, this is a business so be professional, no hair in the food, be prompt and treat your customers with respect .

We went there for my birthday for an early dinner. We found immediate seating. Our server was friendly and helpful with navigating the menu. The food was delicious. I ordered the Beef medallions and it was cooked to how I requested it. The free piece of cheesecake was a great birthday treat! I would definitely go again.

Solid Italian food in a warm, but laid back atmosphere. I enjoyed the lobster stuffed ravoli and a side salad. Worth a stop if you are in the mood for Italian in downtown.

Waited for 45 minutes after my reservation for service. They had wine listed for 26 dollars on menu but stated it would cost 39 dollars. When dinner came my meat ball was raw in the middle.

The food is pretty good, the atmosphere is nice and the prices are reasonable, service was decent. We had to wait quite a while . It was probably 45 minutes to an hour to get our food. They were not super busy so it was kinda odd it took so long. Also they forgot my boyfriend's soup. But other than that pretty good. I got the fettuccini primavera and he got the spaghetti and meatballs . The fettuccini was good , wasn't a big fan of the vegetables. He liked his spaghetti and meatballs. We also got Italian sodas which were very good . I do not like tomato's and they have complimentary bread and butter that had sun dried tomatoes and herbs in the butter. Very good ! I would probably recommend.

The waiters and waitresses are always so accommodating. Always get their specials because their dishes are creative and delicious. Great place for a girl's night out or a date.

You should never tell people its a 20 minute wait if its a 45. Cheers.

This place is to die for! The chief clearly knows what he/she is doing. The service was super great and the atmosphere was fun! The food was just incredible! The facilities were nice and the although the price was expensive it was totally worth it! The portions were also the perfect size for one person, not too big and not too small! I would totally be excited to come back here if we pass though here again and I would recommend this place to others.

I was at the restaurant last spring and the service was outstanding. I was entertaining three customers and thank goodness the important ladies in our group loved our food. We had extremely heavy conversation during the meal and I did not feel it was appropriate to mention that my food was not good at all. I had the Chicken Parm and the chicken tasted very old - nearly rancid. I exchanged it with the son of my client and although he noticed "the funky flavor," he ate it and I somewhat enjoyed his meal. Since I am resident of Durango, I authored an email to the manager explaining that my chicken was so old that the adjective to describe the chicken was rancid. My letter was constructive and polite but I did not hear anything from the manager. Months have passed and I'm still annoyed that I dropped $140 on this meal. I do NOT recommend this restaurant or if you do go, make sure you are with a crowd where you would feel comfortable sending back a meal that is clearly unacceptable.

The lasagna is amazing, the salmon is also just the right size!

The food is delicious, no matter what you order. I like that they have special s every day. Great service as well.

The food was excellent and the service was top notch. Had the Beef Medallions Portobello and they were cooked perfect. Could almost eat the medallions with a spoon. The portobello mushrooms were a great addition as well. The pesto linguini was so good it could be a meal in itself. Portion was perfect for a hungry person with maybe a little leftover.

Emma is an amazing server! She is the only thing that keeps me coming back. That and a cocktail. I think it was called the frisco Collins or something like that. If you go here ask for Emma and order that drink!!

Amazing food for a reasonable price within walking distance of downtown

Fantastic Italian food. The very best meal we had while in Durango for the week. Service ws spot on an accommodated our group of 6 flawlessly.

Great wine selection, yummy appetizer, the meals were decent but nothing spectacular. Our server was very nice and attentive.

This is probably the best Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at in my life. I can not believe how good it was. Such a great accidental find. I am amazed.

The atmosphere was great!

The food was absolutely delicious......I personally had the beef medallions and they actually melted in my mouth !

Appetizers we had at the bar along with some drinks and appetizers fabulous as well..

I did not try everyone's food but There were no complaints or dislike with any of the foods..

Priced well for the type of cooking you will appreciate..

Planning on dining there in March 2020 another birthday celebration!

Pricy but their special of the day is always amazing.

Genuinely shocked to see an average of 4.4. This is easily the worst restaurant in Durango. 3 of us ordered meals and all 3 meals were putrid. One of the rudest waiters I've ever had, too.

Not sure if it was when we went, which was a Saturday night on a weekend the locals said was significantly less busy than the week prior, but food preparation was SLLLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWW. I would guess something happened with the kitchen as majority of the tables around us also had the same frustrated face while waiting very long for their food.

Our server was very nice and did keep us updated but after the 7th time saying "your food will be out shortly", there isn't much she could have done. Food was decent but definitely not worth the wait.

Was an amazing meal, with friendly and attentive service!! Thank you for a great meal. Johnathan was very gracious server and made the meal.

Charming atmosphere, food was delicious and well-priced

Mutu's is one of our favorite restaurants. Northern Italian or Southern they do both well. Excellent service. We've never had anything on the menu that wasn't great and well presented. Now, if they'd do something about the ugly brown vinyl table clothes. Maybe put a sheet of butcher paper across to spice it up.

We expected better from one of the highest rated Italian restaurants in town.

The Good

- The restaurant itself is beautiful and a pleasant dinner setting.

- The menu is great with many options and daily specials.

The Bad

- The bread with the meal didn t appear to be baked in house, which I would expect from a nice Italian restaurant.

- The prices seemed high for what you get. The sauce on the gnocchi was very thin and in general it seemed like there was more sauce on the food than the food itself. The other items we got were the mushroom appetizer and ravioli special.

- The overall attitude of the staff was mediocre.

- The waiter continually wore his mask beneath his nose, which I could see some customers being uncomfortable with.
