A good place to learn more about the culture in Rouen
Not disappointed with this beautiful building! I was the only visitor so it must have played out but the setting and the beautiful and the collection is impressive!
It had been a long time since I went, I was today for the temporary expo, always nice to come back!
Beautiful permanent collections and high quality temporary exhibition
It is a museum that hides its game well, inside, discover artistic treasures signed by great painters.
Very nice permanent collection representative of the artists having painted Normandy and temporary exhibitions always of quality. Pleasant space for a snack under a bay window. And it is not necessary to live in Normandy to enjoy, Rouen being located 1 hour from Paris.
A little expensive museum for the Picasso exhibition
Very interesting and clear exhibition. A lot of information about the life of Georges.Braque and his friends. I liked it even if it is not the period of the painters who make me dream. Nelson architecture that I did not know. Very interesting
Visited contemporary British artists exhibit. Staff was welcoming and visit very pleasant
You can spend hours touring. It has many works and the best thing is that the entrance is free
Wonderful museum with a rich permanent collection. Too bad there is not enough information and annotations around the works and rooms. Inscriptions relating to periods and pictorial context would be a plus. Likewise, the Impressionist collection is insufficient. Too bad to have to wait for ad hoc campaigns on this movement like those of the moment to see more about this current, especially in Normandy. A more fun logic would make the museum more attractive to the youngest.
I was surprised such a great art collection is free to see. I enjoyed a good 45 mins here, I know what I like and I skipped the stuff I didn't.
The exhibition on Braque I loved it.
Too bad to be obliged to take a ticket for the whole museum to see only a temporary exhibition.
I still put 5 stars compared to the temporary exhibition very well.
Beautiful place, the free visit is rich. The person at the reception very kindly offered to put our large suitcases under locks to allow us to visit.
Visited in a gale as part of a photo rally ... very nice museum
Very nice museum whose permanent collection is free to the general public and temporary collections / exhibitions are subject to conditions (free for students).
The exhibitions are fairly regular and vary enormously from one season to another, so do not hesitate to consult the schedule or the latest news on their online site.
We mainly find there the heart of the Norman heritage, with several impressionist paintings, but also models, and some architectural pieces or statues and this of all ages.
Small + a room is allocated to works of art from the School of Fine Arts in Rouen, and the people of Rouen have talent !!
Also, free changing rooms are available to visitors;)
It is always a very quiet place, located opposite the square verdrelle and several public transport systems.
After a point to note, many parts of the museum are under renovation thus preventing access to qq works - but hey that's life
Museum where French romance meets you as soon as you walk in. Beautiful environment and this is enormously inspiring ... this is highly recommended.
Museum in a beautiful building and a very large permanent collection! It is also free (not the exhibitions)! I am not such an art connoisseur, so that some parts seemed much the same for me. But well worth a look! Many Dutch and Flemish works, which makes it extra fun.
Duchamp Expo to see for a global approach to the artist s work
Permanent collection is free and contains many amazing pieces: Rubens, Le Caravage, Velazquez,...
It was excellent. Variety of fine art in a gorgeous building!
Great exhibition. A restful place. Great guided tour
Nice museum but the rooms are oddly arranged (not in chronological order?)
Our guide, Alexandre, was wonderful and taught us a lot about Impressionism and the arts in general.
Beautiful permanent collection and exceptional impressionist exhibition.
I loved it ! It's quite big and really interesting .
Nice building and setting. Good selection of different artists, many of them from Normandy. Not as much modern art but it is there too.
Lots of beautiful things to discover, but not very kind staff.
The museum is dilapidated there was downright water running from the ceiling in one of the galleries !! Positive point for the free cloakroom and the playful explanations written on the wall on the conservation techniques of the works. Note that the collection on the Impressionists is normally free because it is part of the permanent collection and that the museum has found the brilliant idea of making it pay during the works by putting it on a temporary exhibition !!
Very nice museum but lack of explanation for some works ...
Very nice exhibition at the moment on collections of religious paintings and at the same time in separate rooms on art nouveau, to see, plus entry is free
Wonderful if you could sleep on site because a day is not enough to see everything and discover I recommend the detour
Most beautiful museum outside paris duperbes expos to see!
Nice museum, nice, quiet rooms do not miss the impressionist sector with one of the paintings of the cathedral painted by Monet
Awesome way to spend a couple hours. Very underrated gallery - plus, no wait and it's FREE!
My three stars correspond not to the museum itself but to the exhibition on "Marcel Duchamp". There I learned interesting things about the works and the life of this artist but I remained very skeptical about the presentation of his works ... Otherwise, the small restaurant of the place seemed very nice to me. Lunch among sculptures and paintings !. What ignites your taste buds but also awakens your mind.
Considering the price (free) one of the best museums in France.
If you like art, it is the perfect place. If not, you'll enjoy it anyway. They have everything from paintings to sculptures. Modern and old.
You can also eat in a beautiful room.
The museum as such is very beautiful and you want to walk it and get lost in thoughts.
Air-conditioned place with many facilities for those who visit it.
Very nice museum. The reception is good, the exhibitions are beautiful. It lacks contact, if you do not rent the explanatory unit and you know little about it. It is sometimes difficult to follow the exhibitions. All the same, 4 stars for the service, very beautiful paintings and sculptures.
Not bad at all. It is worth visiting just for Monet's La Cathedrale de Rouen.
A must see when you are on Rouen. Wonderful displays are always present ... essential
I loved the exhibition on Braque with an exceptional guide, Martine Sautory, who shared with us her passion
A beautiful museum with beautiful paintings you will make known meetings!
Very nice ! A free party that already filled 3 hours of visits, the other part for temporary exhibitions, a beautiful building, can be one of the best tourist interests of Rouen.
Free admission with some paintings by Monet and Renoir. Worth the visit!
