I daresay the swankiest local drinking hole this south of the river. Food is great, look out for the specials and marvel at the decor. One of our weekly hangouts. Highly recommended. Oh, please make a booking if you're planning dinner :)

The menu is pretty limited to steaks, fried food and large portions of meat. I eat meat bit would've liked to have seen more veggie and sea food options. The decor is beautiful and great wine list but WAY too noisy. Which completely detracted from atmosphere for me. Imposiible to hear anyone but person directly next to you. Why do restaurants not understand that people meet for dinner so they can talk and enjoy eachother's company?

It s great having a local pub with great food and excellent service. Hard to go past the chicken schnitzel and has been cosy near the fire during winter. Outdoor courtyard will be great as it warms up too.

Poor service. It took 20 mins for them to sit us at our table and then the waiter took my wine out my hand as i was finishing while it still had wine in it. The reservation was for an hour and a half they kicked us out after 40mins of service .

So I don't write bad reviews. This experience has compelled me though. I was excited about the renovation and apparently rebranding of our local. It used to be your typical tab not much to recommend it. The introduction of Spanish was welcome. I was excited.

On to the reality. Menu reads well. There are specials in chalk. $60 feed me menu. Sounds great to sample "the best items of the day" said our scottish waiter.

Now the food. White anchovies with picked fennel on slivers of biscuit. As advertised. Mushroom croquetta, filling was slightlt claggy but again passable and as advertised. Piquillo pepper, stuffed with vegetables, I really enjoyed this dish. So far Spanish enough. These were tapas.

Special of the day. Prawns $23. King prawns. 4 prawns. Not the freshest prawns, you could see the tinge of black just above the legs in the front and halfway up the side of the head. Excuseable. Not the best cooked prawns but I like sashimi so undercooked prawns are not an issue. Served with aioli and two green cress leaves. How is this Spanish?

Steak. Rump Cap. Was introduced by the waiter as flat iron steak. The two are actually slightly different. But okay. 4 pieces. Let's say 200 grams. (I'm being generous [this becomes relevant later.]) Served with pearl onions and confit potatoes. Spanish? Side salad of leaves vinegerette and hazelnuts. Spanish?

Dinner intermission. Field mouse in the dining room. We didn't draw attention to it. Some lovely ladies further down the end attempted to let it out. Waiter informed the ladies that they come from the car park. Again benefit of the doubt. (I have never seen a mouse in a dining room [I have seen cockroaches thank you China Bar Russel St])

Dessert. Creme a la cassonade. I actually really liked this dessert. Honey tinged in flavour with freeze dried raspberries and blueberries. Slightly thick custard but enjoyable. 2 Mandarin segments on top. One had a pip. Again acceptable even with the pip.

So let's get to the part I have an issue with. We get the bill. Service is mediocre but not an issue. I walk up to pay. I inserted my card. Was given the usual instructions and as I was punching in the pin was asked "how was everything?". I responded with. "It was okay". "Okay? You didn't like it?" Look at this point I'm annoyed. I vote with my patronage. Don't push for feedback. "It was fine" "what didn't you like about it?".

So at this point I had done the mental calculation. 2x anchovies 2x croquetta 2x peppers 1x prawns 1x steak 1x salad 1x custard. $7+8.4+9+23+36+13.50+12=$108.90. "your pricing is a bit odd. The individual items don't really add up on the feed me." To which our Scottish gentleman responded "You got double portion steak". This part makes me angry. I had already effectively paid. Don't push for feedback and then try to tell me that 200g of steak 3 potatoes and 2 pearl onions is $72. That is beyond a joke. Seriously. I have not complained about your "Spanish" food. Your mouse. Your mandarin pip. You are a joke. Cheers. Won't be back.

Had a family member's birthday in function room at the Mt Erica. Pretty ordinary food from the set menu, service was lacking and the room was uncomfortably warm. Lock on disabled bathroom door was broken.

This pub is a real winner. The food is fantastic, the staff are good and the decor is gorgeous mid-century. The front bar is more relaxed (very loud during peak periods) with a dining space and outside courtyard. Make sure you book on Fri & Sat nights for dinner as this place gets super busy. Some of the best pub food I ve had. The weekend roast is always top notch!

The lamb rump, roasted cauliflower and croquettes were superb! 5/5
Fish and chips were not bad, specifically the tartare sauce was delish (4/5)
Calamari was alright (2/5), and the chicken schnitzel was meh, bit tasteless and bland even with the buffalo cheese (1/5)

Overall, the food is a tad pricey for the portions. The service was great, and the ambience is nice - though it may get a bit loud indoors at night.

Very pricey for single serves of tapas and i have had tapas before at other venues at better prices with just as good service, the food was good however wont be eating there again just too costly and not young child friendly so dont bother mums who have young kids especially if you cant use court yard during bad or rainy weather

The steak night is great. The other offerings are very good. Service is ok. The reason for the 3 stars is the noise and music is so loud you cannot talk or hear. And yet... no one is dancing! HUH???

The service is nice and a nice vibe, but food is really nothing to write home about. Pavlova was store bought meringues, chantilly cream was pouring cream, passionfruit was a bit of pulp. Their roast veggies were underdone and underseasoned, the tzatziki again seemed store bought. Not a great food experience but very nice people. No wifi.

I went to the Mt Erica hotel 4 days ago, for a family event organized by my sister in-law.
I have also recently had some recent dental problems and I am subsequently on a soft diet whilst I recover.
Our waiter was brassy from the get go, and when I brought my condition to his attention and asked if the cauliflower was soft I received a curt no this was a then followed by an uncomfortable silence where I hoped further suggestions would be offered. However as this was not obviously forthcoming I quickly ordered the fish/market fish/fish of the day ($38).
Now, I m not adverse to paying good money for good food, but what I received did not meet my expectations of a $38 meal.
For starters the fish (snapper) was the size of my palm (I have small hands), it was also under cooked in one part (clear and raw in the center) and the zucchini/tomato salad accompanying said fish was bland and poorly dressed and again very small. The salsa verde was nice though, I can honestly say that because I used it to soak some of my husbands chips in so they were soft enough to eat, as I was very hungry.
Despite the price I did not finish my meal. And if the waiter had not been so blunt earlier, I would have provided this feedback at the time.
my concern is that future patrons with similar dietary requirements may have the same problems (particularly elderly patrons, who are more likely to have this restriction)

Absolutely horrible customer service!

Absolutely horrible customer service!
We were a walk-in group of 5 for Lunch.
Had no tables available, even though the place was empty. Asked if we minded to sit in public bar area, that was ok but directed ourselves to the bar area, no follow up of menus or customer care.
We've never been here before, wasn't offered any customer service, very poor service follow up.
The manager accused my sister of being an "angry lady" when she asked for menus.
This put us off immediately , so decided to leave straight away.
Upon leaving we met the staff member at the front to let them know why we are leaving.
This was not acceptable attitude to have from a customer point of view.

With Melbourne being in lockdowns and us trying to help support local businesses, it was very disappointing to try a new venue and be met with such poor service. Would avoid this place and not recommend if you are looking for service!!!

It's been more than a decade since I've set foot in this venue. Very glad I did. The food was great and the staff were exceptional! With a full restaurant and a large table full of kids they managed to provide us with great timely service. The kids loved the pasta and fish n chips. Majority of us had steaks all round which were really good. I would have preferred a little bit of a chargrilled flavour. But nevertheless it was GOOD. My medium rare was not bloody ... simply melted in my mouth! Looking to return soon.

Came where with my parents for lunch on Saturday. We ordered the rotisserie of the day and fish n chips. The rotisserie of the day was lamb and it was super super dry and lack any flavour. It felt like it was 2 days old sitting in a bain marie. My father and I both ordered and agreed. My mother had the fish and chips and it was covered in a 1cm of batter and was super thick. I m not sure I m going to return
