MT ERICA HOTEL Review

Food was great pub looks great. I m not sure if it was because of COVID but the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and we had to remind them of a couple of things. Overall a good experience.

Meals are somewhat overpriced for the quality. Been there four times and my main issue with the place its inconsistency.
Entres are blunt, medium-rare steak is always different. Sometimes 'great', sometimes 'could be better'. Waiters are ignorant and not motivated.

Great quality traditional pub food - great reno too

Fantastic pub with stylish design yet retains the classic pub feel which most pubs are loosing. Great food to match a pint or two with friends.

Came here on a Monday for lunch - prompt service, not too busy/noisy which was nice. Schnitzel with coleslaw was a real winner, partner ordered fish and chips which was ok. All in all, a very pleasant lunch. Will be back.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here today. Superb service never waiting for anything despite the place being full and people waiting for tables. The lamb was perfect nice pink and tender, my partners bare chicken bones spoke for themselves ! Lovely fire ( nice to have a real one!) will most definitely return soon

We had dinner with friends on valentines night and we re so disappointed- they forgot one of our entrees the steak was well done and we ordered medium rare and even though the staff were helpful they were dressed in street clothes so it was hard to tell who was staff and one girl had short shorts on which seems inappropriate for a dining venue
The oysters were delicious and so was the bread
Not sure I would have dinner here again

Tuesday night is steak special night. Steak was amazing with fantastic chips. Worth every cent of the $18!

Food menu is lacking basic pub menu items and the while place is generally over priced. It's trying to be sometime it's not, don't recommend. $24 Schnitzel and then have to buy $8 chips? Come off it.

More comebacks than John Farnham but this time it looks like a winner..

Place that does it well is needed in the area and they "Mt Erica" do it very well.

A recently renovated pub that has kept its character and has plenty of space to chat and drink. The service and staff are efficient and polite. The food is okay, but don't let that stop you.

Perfectly cooked chateaubriand ....... 800 grams medium rare with a pepper sauce .....
I will return.

This place has finally reached it's potential as a trustworthy true local pub thanks to the friendly , accommodating and engaging staff . As soon as I walked in I was welcomed with a smile at the door and the noise of everyone having a good time was deafening.

My friend and I visited just after Christmas. We got a seat out in the courtyard as we had our furry friend with us. It was very busy but service was still very quick and friendly. The courtyard was lovely and is a sun trap. It s the perfect place for a causal lunch and pub food. I got the chicken schnitzel which was a good portion and I especially loved the slaw that accompanied it. This was delicious, crunchy and zingy. It didn t come with chips which I thought was a bit strange and I ordered a side of chips to go with it. I m a big eater but the extra chips was too much so if they had it with the schnitzel, it would have been perfect. My friend had the fish and chips which was also a big portion. The batter on the fish was light and fluffy. Definitely will visit it again.

Great customer service ! Couldn t fault them however grossly overpriced for stock standard food. Schnitzel with salad $24 need to purchase fries ($8). It s a pub with a far leap of desperation to be more. Either be a restaurant or be a pub. I rate them 2 stars purely for the customer service and the nice atmosphere. They lost it for charging small pub meals at restaurant prices and lack of menu options if they are actually trying to be a restaurant.

Looks can be deceiving. From the outside I ve never been interested in going in but wow, this place is awesome. Great fit out and decent steak night!

Mount Erica on the 11/11/19. It was the most enjoyable experience. My friend had chosen some fantastic French wines, starting with Champagne (that was to be the beginning of a very long lunch). Service from our charming waiter John was second to none, honestly, the best in Melbourne that I have had for the longest time. We were seated around some larger tables but we were always taken care of with wines and water topped up and checked in regularly to see how we were going.
My lamb was absolutely delicious, the only slightly negative was my friend who had the wagyu ragu said it was too rich for such a warm day. He also stated that if it was 12 degrees outside and the fireplace was roaring then it would have been perfect. So not all bad.
We have been many times and we can't wait for our next catch up to go again. Please be sure to thank John and the Chefs for us.

Nice vibe, pretty busy Friday arvo lunch spot. quite happy with the wine & sausage roll entree , but was a disappointing steak tartare!

Such an amazing night for our Work X/mas function held outside on the deck Staff were obliging and kept us updated on the running of the night, nothing was too much trouble. Justin the Function Co-ordinator was amazing with making sure all went smoothly.
Food was delish, and plenty of it , great to have a decent serving for a large group. Will definitely be heading back there for various drinks & meals. Well done Mount Erica !!

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch here. I chose the schnitzel with lemon coleslaw and and my dining companion chose the Sunday special roast of veal and asparagus. Both meals were delicious and the service was very good.

Food took over an hour to arrive. While i understand it's busy, i've had better service elsewhere.

Had to confirm twice, no problem with that.
Arrived on time and told to wait in the bar, NP with that either, but then they seated the rest of the party without telling us. As the night wore on, their excellent playlist got louder and louder, nightclub loud. I asked if it could be turned down a smidge and was told 'no, that's not possible' as the waiter walked away. The music was turned down. Incredibly rude interaction.
Then charged for an additional bottle of wine, it was taken off the bill but shouldn't of happened.
It was very busy. Food was ok.

Had a very pleasant Christmas dinner here. Nothing very fancy but a generous filling turkey meal. Great service by the waitresses

Newly renovated and highly recommended. I was there on Tuesday night & dined on 'Dono's World Famous Steak' ...massive claim but a super satisfying 300g sirloin cooked rare as requested for $18 with seriously moreish fries & great sides u cant go wrong. Attentive staff and great wine selection make it an amazing choice for any night of the week...the counter lunch weekday specials also look like a must try -kudos guys

Had a great lunch here today... Very pleasant way to spend the day... Chicken schnitzel was enormous.. very filling... Great wines.. Fresh bread and sparkling water. And of course chips... Service was very friendly... Well worth a visit and yes fire Place was on...

Used to be fantastic as pub food but now they've changed to tapas. Seafood wasn't fresh, small portions. High prices not much choice. To top it all off we saw a mouse running around. I won't be going back unless they revert to the old style and I encourage others to do the same.

one of my fav place to have nice chill dinner with bottle of wine. perfect atmosphere . the interior give you more rich feel of an exotica places.

Steak was delicious and very well cooked. There was a large range of beers on tap, and seemed like a lot of wines on the list. Service was excellent too!

Great service and food and excellent acoustics, you can actually talk to the person sitting next to you.

The steaks here are phenomenal; cooked perfectly and the mustard and horseradish available is high quality.

I shared the Chateaubriand with sides of Beetroot salad (the feta is amazing, however might need more to balance the flavours better) and chips which were amazing.

I have also been on steak night (Tuesday) and although it wasn t a Chateaubriand, it was still cooked perfectly and delicious.

The staff are attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is my absolute FAVOURITE part decor, lighting and music is always perfect.

Really average food. Staff are really young & not enthusiastic. They are more interested in make up and how short their skirts can go. Won't be going back. Was hoping for improvements post renovations but no such luck.

First time at this pub. Friendly but easy going staff. A really nice quiet vibe. The interior decor felt cosy with nice dimmed lighting. Food was good. It was a cold night but the temperature still felt warm. It felt intimate despite the covid distancing. Will return definitely.

Fish and chips were superb! Best counter meal I've ever had. Can't beat it for $15

Classic pub meals with a twist. Chicken Parma very tasty served with a fresh cabbage and fennel salad. Great space. Service was average: waiters need to smile.
