I went to MSU for grad school in the early 2000 s at an extension campus after teaching school, but I have to say I strongly disagree with their decision to remain open amid the snowstorm. It s dangerous and stupid for a day of education! Not all students live on campus and some will be driving that includes staff. Students who walk are risking slipping on ice, frostbite, breaking bones from falling and getting hit by cars who have less experienced drivers with snowy conditions.
Not to mention these dangerous windchills! It s better to close before a student needlessly dies and the family sues!

Clearly and documented cases of repeated victim-shaming and ignoring decades of reports to maintain their "name". Then, after all has been proven in a court of law and multiple testimonies uphold It, the board still maintaijns confidence in the president?!? How do they still have a job? I work very closely with a college prep highschool and we discourage all students from applying to MSU.

I wrote a very detailed review of why this place is garbage but lost it when I accidently refresed so here's the main points:

1) Geared towards profit, not for actually teaching, with huge class sizes. Many classes are taught more by overworked TAs than the professors. Not that a lot of professors know how to teach anyways.
2) Commuting students are placed at a huge disadvantage, with most student activities and plenty of exams ending after the campus bus stops running at 7pm. Which wouldn't be that big of an issue, if commuters didn't pay $100+ for the privilege of being allowed to park on the one lot as far from the core of the campus as possible.
3) Classes are practically structured to give disabled students as much trouble as possible. There's a huge emphasis on timed tests. I've asked one professor about extended time limits because I have an anxiety disorder, he lied to me and said that wasn't possible, so I didn't bother filing for accommodations until it was too late. Also there's only a few actual desks at the back of the classroom for disabled students, which are often taken up by abled students. The half desks everywhere else definitely aren't suited for writing with tendonitis.
4) Elitism, only a certain amount of credits are accepted from community colleges despite all of my community college classes being VASTLY superior to any at MSU.

Anyways I was a 3.7 GPA student making good progress on my degree despite my disabilities before going here. I would have to retake about half of my classes if I stayed here, and the thought of staying here gives me panic attacks. This year has been a waste of time and money, while I took a huge hit to my mental health. And health in general. I haven't been sleeping well at all. I'm very tired and my depression/anxiety/tendonitis have been boosted due to stress and lack of self care.

Please go somewhere else. And attend community colleges like Jackson College and Lansing Community College as much as possible before university. Maybe find a nice technical college instead because as far as I know all universities are like this.

They allow a graduate student who did not follow IACUC approved protocol to graduate with a Master's Degree (Kate Steensma Fall 2012). By her not following the approved protocol, the cows were starved and had severe consequences to their health.

When I graduated from high school the thought of being at a place like MSU ... that
was sheer pipe dream. I had the same feeling after graduating from college. But what you think will never happen ... well..... To spend 34 years at MSU--as faculty member and administrator--was a dream come true. It's in "the bigs" of higher education, an experience I'll always cherish. Dreams sometimes come true, don't they?

Got to give this 3 stars to average out all my 4 and 5 star reviews. Thought I would post some good pics for yall. As you can see, the key to a good photo is to get them at the peak of anxiety. Nothing else breathes life into a photo like true fear. Don't worry though, no kids were "harmed" while taking these. Oh, and that other photo? Yep.

Never went there as a student, but I worked there. Very beautiful campus, fun activities and nice consumer goods to buy nearby and good work/life balance. Recommended campus for foodies and nature geeks; foodies especially will LOVE MSU.

Far and above the best academic institution in the state of Michigan. Not only do you get a highly respected degree while developing your knowledge, but you also get the atmosphere and surroundings which allow you to learn about yourself and find your true meaning and worth to this world, for better or for worse. Your independent life as you finally realize it, starts here.

I recommend touring the campus, it is very large filled with many friendly kids and staff members! This college was very welcoming to tourists. It is also great for learning about new campuses and how a college works! I truly recommend this college!

We all know the saying when it rains it pours and it is definitely pouring at Michigan State University the atrocities and ruthless acts that were carried out by Dr nassar and former basketball and football players and allowed to go on for so long would shake anyone to their core.

A world class university that offers limitless opportunities. MSU is a fantastic place to learn, grow and meet people. East Lansing is great collegiate atmosphere and a nice downtown to spend the day with the family.

I guess the university earned quite a lot of fundings by squeezing from the students every single penny of their money?
Also, the only reason the university take in so many international students is probably they need them to boost their rankings, and of course, the money from their pockets are desirable as well.
But then why on earth do they treat these students they rely on with no intentions of getting them really on a good track of education , instead of simply discriminating against them, pushing them around ?
Such a myth.

Large and diverse University, focused yet fun bringing a balanced education for the real world. Possibly the best sports in the country, and unique niche programs such as turfgrass management or packaging to launch you into the professional world.

I would be so embarrassed if I got my degree from this school. I'm sure they will lose a lot of students faculty and business now because of them purposely covering up sexual abuse for many years all because of greed and money! Shame on MSU! Let's turn a blind eye to sexual abuse because of money how horrible what a horrible horrible excuse for a school. Good luck keeping your enrollment up I have 2 daughters that will attend college one day and I guarantee you it won't be this one. All these poor girls lives ruined because you're wanted to keep a sexual predator.
