I worked for this company and tried my best to honor what the customer service experience was supposed to be but unfortunately the owner Dan is a shameless business man. He would not take customer calls or return calls until he was threatened with law suits. He would send crews out even though the product specifications said not to do above 85 degrees, which burnt numerous yards! He would have customers prepay for services and then not do the jobs! Worst job I have ever had! CONSUMER BEWARE!

The company is a complete and total sham they have very shady business practices I should know because I have worked for them before. The owner will give his friends special rates and then screw over the other customers by charging them more.

Every other time they showed up, my yard looked worse than before they started. They will argue with the customer, even after they see their own sloppy work. Sometimes they show up, most of the time the work is really really bad and they don't care, so I left them. Quality and timeliness are two important factors here and Mountaineer Lawn Care has failed them both.

Consistently had my bill incorrect. Tired of copying checks in which I had already paid them and sending with the current payment to prove that I paid. Even lost a check. Not to mention the overall look of my lawn. I'm Done!

I don't know what was applied to my lawn. (They came when I was not there.) But it now has large brown (dead) patches. I talked to someone once, who promised to send out a "technician," but repeated calls got no answer and their voice mail box is full. I am very sorry to give such a lousy review.

I wish I could give zero stars, as a beware! My experiences in 2017 and 2018 with this company were pretty bad. The unprofessional behaviors of the whole company, from the owner, to the receptionist, to the lawn sprayers... all guilty of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I've been waiting for a callback for a service need since May (it's almost September). Violets have been out of control for 2 seasons. Fleas are also out of control. Crabgrass is out of control. These are things they are supposed to fix with their lawn care service. I called to ask for my money back, which was refused. I reminded them of their "satisfaction guaranteed" statement on their website, which they denied. I cancelled my service today 8/22/18 (which thankfully came with a cancellation number 130912), but the receptionist could not ensure that the owner Dan Cheslock would ever call me back because she "doesn't control him." Still hoping for my money back. Below is a copy of their satisfaction guarantee, which they do not honor. They have NEVER come to make things right. NEVER.

Used them several years ago and I had a good experience even though they were expensive. This year they only mowed three times and I had to let them go. They haven't showed up the past two weeks and didn't call. The information they gave me when I called them about when they would be out proved false.

Different people, different times, pick a different company.

I had this company to give me an estimate the estimate was for $275.00 which I thought was a good price. A few days passed and I received a call from the company and was told another price approx $200.00 tact on to the $275.00. The gentleman who gave me the estimate told me he had the right to give the estimate then I guess the owner looks at the number and adds on more money. Needless to say I did not hire them. If the owner gives an employee permission to give a quote then the owner should stand by the quote or the owner should do it. Don't hire them for your bill will change whenever the owner wants to change it. I would like to give them ZERO stars. That is NOT the way to do business. Pick a different company.

Original review: Extremely poor customer service. 3/20/17 - My mother called to hire them to mow (every 2 weeks for the season) as a "gift" for me. She told them to be sure to call me before coming to my house. 3/21/17 - Early morning, doorbell woke me (they never called me); the employee was here to do the estimate. He assured me he would confirm the details with my mother. No word from them after that, and they never showed up to mow. I called them on 4/10/17 (Monday) to verify they were still going to mow my yard this summer. I was told they would be out by the end of the week, that they had been delayed by last Friday's "snow" (no accumulation at my house that day, plus the estimate was 3 weeks prior). That was the last I heard from them. My mom and I have both called a few times since but it goes to their answering machine/voicemail. Can't rate their actual work because they never showed up to do any.
Edit --- End of summer/season 2017 - they did show up to start mowing. The work/workers were fine (decent job and if I asked them to focus on a specific thing they did). The business side was still awful; they charged me more than estimated and for time(s) when no service was even provided.
This past summer/season (2018) was MUCH better. The business side had changed and was much more reliable. They seem to have a problem keeping workers (but I think every lawn service has the same issues) however, I had a really wonderful crew leader (Daryl) who was consistently professional, courteous, did great work and made sure everything was to my satisfaction. My lawn was finally maintained on a regular basis.
I hope that the good service continues for the upcoming 2019 season. I would now recommend them (with some reservations though, as only time will tell if they will be able to provide consistent quality services), which is why I raise my 1 star rating to a 3 star. (If I rated based solely on Daryl's service/consistency, it would be a 5)
