The "Mountain hardwear store" is officially known as the Columbia employee store but people still refer it to the first. This store in general is a great place to browse through especially for anyone that are in the process of looking for outdoor clothing gear. This however doesn't mean that you should only focus on coming here if you need clothing gear. Their clothing in general are pretty stylish and can often be integrated into your daily lineup of what to wear. For those that are into the outdoors, this place is an absolute bargain since the the prices are usually 40-60% off, but is generally more in the 30-50%. Even so that is a steal unless you're one of those patagonia bandwagon poser which I really do not care to talk about. Mountain hardwear store has enough high end gear ranging from simple hiking shoes to jackets to tents for your occasional outdoor spur of the moment. It's a simple one stop shop with the exception of accessories of course like matches, spoons or stove...lol. There is one thing about this store that will keep most of the general at bay and that is the general invitation required for entry. Yes, this store requires you to present an invitation paper of some sort from mountain hardwear to gain access to the discount price. If you're one of those lucky few who gets an invitation from your employer or friends who receive them quarterly then you're in luck! Happy shopping and definitely keep out for their "EXTRA 30% OFF" event because the discount are steep! Example, a men rs stretch down usually retails for $300 which on average goes for around $200-250 at most store on any given moment. I purchased the jacket for $122.98 which made me go back just to come out with 2 jacket and 1 hoodie then I had originally intended base on my projected budget. It's also a good idea to an eye out for their websites because sales are here and there and yes the price goes down to $149.98. If you sign up for their email program which is free and I'm not trying to promote them! You get an extra 20% off on your birthday. I would stay away from sites like Amazon as there are just too many knock off to figure which is real or not! Especially if you are going to spend $$$, you might as well get it from the source. There are just too color option on Amazon that I suspect this feeling of knockoff in the back of my head since I know mountain hardwear rarely offers that many color options on their website alone. Shop smart, shop wise and get more bang out of your buck!

If your pockets are very full with $$$, then you will enjoy this store! Lots of high quality and brand name clothing, coats, shoes, and more. Good place to go once a year to pick up things like a new backpack, a new raincoat, etc. The staff are also very friendly and there's a huge parking lot. Easy to get to and worth the drive. Have the correct expectations though, don't expect to get any mind blowing sales, for the employee discount everything's pretty much 50% off, but everything starts at quite expensive prices, so in the end, it's still more expensive than Target or Amazon.

Mountain Hardwear products have become poorly sewn with falling apart seams and broken zippers and their customer service doesn't stand behind their products. They demand you pay repair costs for something that is only a month and a half old (outside of the return window for Amazon). I have argued with their warranty department and dealt with their customer service and its all a dead end. The best resolution I could get was "document the feedback" after hours on the phone. Mountain Hardwear is also owned by Columbia who also owns Sorel prAna. I would assume "corporate policy" is the same for all of these companies and that is to not care about the customer.

Have been here several times. Don t go on the weekend if you can avoid it. Way too crowded. Had to stand in line for twenty minutes for the fitting room. On weekdays there s only a handful of people. Prices are great! Even if I don t find something I like I always find something for one of my kids or grandkids. There shoes are especially great. And ladys if you wear a size 7 or smaller the kids sizes will fit you and they re like half the price of the adult sizes. I ve bought 5 pairs of great hiking shoes for $25.00 to $40.00. Same with the clothes. If your a size small get the kids extra large.

Store carries Columbia, Prana, and Mountain Hardwear. Most items are 40% off of retail prices. Items purchased here are only returnable here, and they don't accept returns that were bought at other Colombia stores. Customer service was very helpful.

Go with the understanding that your wallet will be far lighter when you exit the store, but that you ll come away with some awesome purchases, and let s be real, is there really such a thing as too many hiking/skiing/climbing/biking/yoga outfits?

The customer service is the worst... They don't call you back even if they say they would. They got my on hold order totally wrong. I had to leave work early to get here and because one person didn't call me back, what I wanted were already gone. So I asked for what were left and now they already sold out what I asked for. Seriously!?

Invites available at Assemble Restaurant. Pre-shop online (Columbia, Sorel, Mountain Hardware), add items to your cart (log in) and then checkout of your cart in the employee store at one of the 2 computer shopping kiosks. Over half the items available online are NOT in the store, but still available at a discount via the kiosks

They have really good selection especially of clothes. Prices are very good. The jacket I bought was 10% cheaper then the cheapest option I found in the Internet. You could probably find better discounts on other pieces, but I liked this particular jacket a lot. Not many accessories though, like tents, sleeping bags, only couple of types and mostly the expensive one.

I purchased a Lightpath 2 Tent and enjoyed it. On a camping trip to Yosemite a few weekends ago, I lost my poles. I sent them an email asking if I could purchase a new set of poles and they told me to look on Ebay (there are none on Ebay). After this I asked if they could send me lengths and specifications on the poles so that I can make them myself. I never heard back and will have to throw away my perfectly good tent and purchase a new one. This is very disappointing. I would think that all outdoors companies would promote a sustainable gear replacement policy, tent poles being a basic replacement part.

this is a great place to get bargains on outdoor clothing etc -- but you need to have permission to gain entry. my place of employment provided a pass. i am not sure of the other types of admission beyond the obvious be-an-employee-of-columbia-sportswear-or-subsidary-thereof.

THE STORE WITH THE BEST PRICES IN CALIFORNIA.(Sorry outlets...)
Everybody is super nice over there. They're really knowledgeable about their products and they give really good recommendations depending on what you need and want.

Extremely friendly staff and amazing prices. Sadly not open to the public. Sister got an admission ticket at a local concert, I guess they hand them out sometimes, which allowed us non employees to go in and shop. They had Columbia, mountain hardware, prana, and more. Sell clothing, shoes, tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, bottles, and much more. Great store and great discounts on everything. Need to get another ticket.

They have plenty of items in stock. You'll find cheaper deals with the Columbia branded apparel. Mountain hardwear has nice stuff, but you got to wait for their sales to make it worth it.
Dont think you'll get any steals, its slightly discounted highly marked up product.
I still shop there though :)

Best outdoor product for its' price. The quality seems to have come down several notches since its' purchase by Columbia. For example, the stitchings on their apparels that were made in Vietnam have fallen apart like fragile little things. However, their designs are great (seamless, sizing, pocket placements, etc.) and when there are warranty issues, Patrick in the warranty department provided me with credits for the defective items without duress. I really like the fact that a credit is issued and never expires as waiting for a repair to be made takes too long for most of us. Thanks for keeping us playing outside! Overall, this is the best bang for your buck type of a company with growth potential in the quality department. Look to Arc'teryx for quality and design inspiration MHW, just don't look at their prices.

Great selection of in-season clothing and hiking/camping/yoga gear from Mountain Hardwear, Columbia, and Prana. Make sure you have an actual invite to enter. You can also get one by eating at the nearby Assemble restaurant. Don't forget to stop by the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park while you're out there too!
