This office has been amazing for us. We have had some big health issues in the last 2 years, and they have been nothing but helpful. So grateful to them!
This office has been amazing for us. We have had some big health issues in the last 2 years, and they have been nothing but helpful. So grateful to them!
There seem to be a lot of disgruntled folks with our plan...but, I don't know guys...I see people in that office trying to HELP and they have REPEATEDLY done so for me!...SO THANK YOU...for doing your best and solving issues for us all. Julio Macat
Horrible customer service, for as much as this was bragged up, it s pretty sub par insurance.
Very uncooperative people; worst people to deal with by far, extreme disrespect for elderly and people with various challenges. Avoid them if you can but if you do not have a choice then you are very unfortunate.
who makes decisions? chooses what is most convenient for the members? I now believe no amount of money would buy good health insurance, It would pay really good salaries to not very good CEOs though...
An update. The pros; benefits are really good and they do offer plenty of incentives. The cons; the HR manager does nothing to rectify real issues, and will always side with management. The management in the Pension department is a joke, they have their staff running around without a real idea of how to properly delegate. They allow certain individuals to undermine other staff and treat others associates that they don't like similar to a highschool atmosphere. The senior staff are constantly disrespected by other younger staff and the department manager.
The customer service there is good when u walk in. But if you try to pay your premium online or take care of things on the phone, It s horrible.
It gets worse! Just wait until they dump you on Medicare Part D Prescription Coverage Many medications are changed or denied. I've been fighting this nightmare for six months now. And by the way, you won't be allowed to say no. You are given no other choice unless you want to pay full retail for all your meds. We got thrown under the bus by our union. Screw them. I feel like I wasted 38 years working in this industry. I don't even get to give them less than one star. Instead I'll just have to be content with giving them a one finger salute!
I wish there was a way of giving minus stars. This is third world quality health care. Where once a shining beacon of the motion picture industry the quality of service is beyond sub par. There is only one phone number that allows you to reach your doctor. You cannot speak directly to your doctor or nurse. You must go throw a third rate messaging service. Phone calls are NEVER returned. If you require prescription refillls for important medication you will be lucky if they are filled after a pharmacy request is not responded to after weeks. This is a tragedy that was once a bright star for those working in the motion picture industry.
I'm a retired member of the motion picture industry. I have to agree that phone service has fallen off tremendously from the way it was when I came into the industry. I understand there are many more members but the industry has not kept up with technology as far as accessibility is concerned. Even the website is far behind in this area. Why not have a contact person available on the internet? I called and was put in the queue to speak to the next available person and was told it would be a 15 minute wait! Ridiculous!
The most inconsistent, horribly inaccurate information given over the phone. This cost my wife and Kids to lose their medical in which they rely on monthly. Upon arrival The Payment manager MONICA Could only tell me what i did wrong and was unable to give me any educated answers and didn't seem to care about the lack of help and information I received from their office on several phone calls. I really hope nobody gets treated like this but this has been a horrible experience.
This health plan is the worst I've ever dealt with! The employees are uninformed and inexperienced, . Their business hours are not helpful in the least to their members that work long hours in the Entertainment Industry! The plan does nothing for their members and after a long wait for a rep to answer you hang up just as confused. Additionally, the plan does not work in the members best interest. Recently we were involved in a long dispute over which plan should cover an emergency surgery. MPIHP fought having to cover the surgery and finally our secondary insurance, Kaiser, stated they would display BETTER customer service than MPIHP was offering and pay the $50K for us! MPIHP is ridiculous, simple minded, idiotic, and overall useless as a heath plan. I am so sorry for anyone that has ONLY MPIHP as a plan; at least we have a second plan, a better plan, a plan that wants their members to THRIVE, Kaiser!
Best wishes to the rest of you...
My husband is a member of mpi. When I retired at 62 I was offered cobra cobra by my employer. I decllined coverge thinking I would be covered by mpi through. My husband, Mpi said that since I didn't take the cobra they would no longer cover me. I spent 2 years making payments to my doctor but oddly enough tthey continued to pay for my perscriptions. When I turned 64 I was then on Medicare and chose united healthcare for my medical. Twice since then mpi has put my name in to the medical data bank as being employer insured. This then stopped my insurance with my carrier. The first time was 6 months ago and I found out the day I .was to start chemotherapy. It took weeks to get my insurance back and by then the window to have the chemo was passed so I didn't have it. Now I was going to have eye surgery and when I went in for my pre_surgery perscriptions I found they did it again and my insurance has been cancelled.
These people are terrible. What gives them the right to play with my life this way.
I don't know what to do.
can't wait for my husband to be on Medicare- hate the rule that you have to get a yearly physical with the MD at Skirball- they are horrible & a waste of time.
sad sad sad my son is disabled been verify more than once still not covered been over 3 months it is in Gods Hands
I haven t had any problems with Mpiphp in 30 years union.
I use tha Anthem/blue cross hmo plan. We ve used it for 2 kids also.
I use the Toluca lake clinic ,open til 8pm,and the Valencia clinic. Works for us fine.
Love our HMO through MPI! And I ve had nothing, but good experiences with their customer service team.
MPIph has to be the most crooked managing health plan weve ever encountered. Even the employees try to screw the members. They know they can treat us poorly becuase we cant take our money or invest in another plan.
They have the worst health insruance plans and also help the insurance companies to screw hard working members.
I hope the BBB , California and other agencies close them down.
Very uncooperative over the phone. I was billed $670 for lab work for my regularly annual physical for going to my regular physician who is 3 min away from my house who accepts PPO
I called in to ask a few questions about my Retirement Benefits so that I could fill out a Financial Disclosure for a Divorce. Lady on the line was incredibly rude and hung up on me! I swear I wasn t in a bad mood or anything, she was literally more rude to me then my Ex-wife has been through my entire Divorce process.
I've been billed $155 for a flu shot they will not cover. Ripped off. Their services continue to decline....
In October 2017, my union eligibility for health insurance ran out. I then signed up for COBRA, through MPI. Since that time, for the last 8 months, like clockwork, they ve been sending me notice of ineligibility packages stating that my benefits were eligible as of the month prior and I need to sign up for COBRA. I ve called there now 5 times over the course of these months to get them to stop sending these to me. Without fail they do not, even though their managers have said we ve solved the problem and you won t receive these anymore.
The information in the packets is misleading and wasteful. This month they didn t send me a premium, but they did send me a notice of ineligibility packet! When I told this to the manager Matt W., he stated, in a very apathetic tone that, they don t always send premium reminders out and it s up to me to remember to send in my payment. For real? I can t wait to be done with this company. Awful.
When this union does something other than take my money, then i'll give them ONE more star.
My son is trying to get his money to survive but your major incompetence is unbelievable. You either don't know what you are doing, or just don't care. I guess since you are collecting a paycheck nothing else matters! What a terribly run organization. How disheartening for people in need.
I've called dozens of time in the last year and have had only good experiences with the staff. I don't always like the answers I get but they have always given honest answers. Retiring and medicare is a lot to digest and can be overwhelming but write your questions down and try to remember that they are trying to help you.
