My husband had filed a disability claim with the VA which they initially denied. Upon appeal, we located a VA attorney to help with the process. That VA attorney was Paul Burkhalter of Morgan & Weisbrod in Dallas, Texas. He was absolutely wonderful in explaining the process, providing guidance and getting all of the necessary paperwork filed with the VA. His paralegal, Kyle Sturdivant, was also very helpful in the process and friendly as well. In the end, the appeal was successful at the DRO level with the VA granting my husband a 100% disability rating. Also, the VA backdated the eligibility date back to the date of the original claim filing and my husband received a lump sum payment. We are very appreciative of the knowledge and efforts of Paul Burkhalter that led to this favorable outcome. We certainly recommend Mr. Burkhalter's services to any veteran seeking VA disability.

This is real sad of company after all stuff they tell you about you being a family member smh. They talk a good game till after you win your first denial . Once the easy money on serious case with lots of evidence is given to them all family talk is over.

If you old case that needs help you out luck they only care about new blood to drain. Learn the law do it on your own because you can do better or find someone who will actually be there big money case or not .

I'm not sure if I would recommend them or not. I would have to tell somebody after they got paid they pretty much disappeared. Some people say that it was the end, but it wasn't. I wasn't getting a check every month. I was trying to work, and they knew that I probably wouldn't be able to work but a few more months. Two months after I won my case for the past 3 years,and one month after SS paid the attorney's fee, I was dismissed from my job cuz I could no longer do the work. I called Morgan and Weisbrod several times. It's like they fell off the face of the earth after they got paid. I didn't know what to do I didn't know whether to appeal or file a new application. I tried again to contact them to find out if I was making the right decision by filing a new application. I found out the hard way I made the wrong decision and should have appealed it. Now because of that and I haven't been able to work for the last four years because of it now I don't have enough work credits. I've called and asked them to withdraw as my attorney so that I can hire another attorney. I can't even get them to do that. Yes they won my back 3 years of SS I for me but now I'm screwed worse I had been better off not getting that and trying to start it from the beginning. Because now them leaving me like this, with not appealing instead filing a new application. I tried to fix it, and file for my new application to be replaced by an appeal of my initial case, but because they did not withdraw as my attorney like I asked, and wouldn't contact me. I'm having to do this all by myself and I don't know what I'm doing. I can't a hire another attorney to help me because they did not withdraw as my attorney, like I asked. So I don't know would you recommend them? I don't think I would. Be careful in hiring a social security attorney is all I can tell you.

Well in the begining I came to Mr Weisbrod office I was in a hard place in my life. I had a lot of doubt a lot of frustration. And was full of just anger. There were time during our interview that I would get angry and Mr Weisbrod had a lot of patience with me. He change my whole life. I want to take a moment to detail my experience with Morgan & Weisbrod as well as my person attorney Paul Burkhalter.
I had been previously rated at 30% SC and then 5 years later my disabilities became worse and I had my case re-opened. I received two increases in service connection. The first was an increase from 30 to 70%. Then almost a week later the VA sent another letter stating my increase was to 80%. I appealed their decision not searching for 100% SC but rather because I wanted two of my disabilities to be rated separately. I didn t understand why PTSD was lumped in with TBI with concussive headaches. I suffer from really bad migraines as a result of TBI. I realize that PTSD symptoms are similar to a TBI but they are separate disabilities and I wanted them to separate them in case One became worse down the road. I wasn t expecting an increase to 100%.
I previously had been unemployed since early 2013 as a result of my disabilities. In 2014 I applied for SSDI and was approved at the initial claim level. I asked my personal attorney for help with my appeal with the VA and he recommended a law firm to help me. He went to church with one of the firms principles. After reviewing my claim and file, they agreed to represent me free upfront with the promise of 20% of any back pay collected. It s a risk on their part because if they are unsuccessful you pay nothing.
In May of 2017, my attorney represented me in a DRO hearing done video conferencing. As someone who suffers from PTSD, I really appreciated how Paul my attorney set the expectations and protocols that would occur beforehand so I was able to be less anxious. The DRO hearing ended with a favorable decision by the VA to increase me to 100% P&T. I received a very nice back payment that allowed me to get married to my wife. I know that everyone who deals with the VA or SSA has their own personal situation but what I can say is that for mine we were victorious. Paul had prepared a fully developed claim with me and had me gather evidence from everyone like the VA, doctors, psychologists, psychiatrist, personal statements, 3 part evidence letters, etc etc.. When we walked into our hearing I felt like we were prepared to do battle and had the right tools for success. I believe that the DRO officer realized he was dealing with a professional law firm that had done its homework and came prepared and that it played a factor in receiving a favorable decision. Simply put, everyone I dealt with a the law firm from Kyle the paralegal to Paul, my attorney, were professional and knowledgeable. They never once judged me or looked down on me. They always treated me like I was important.
Since then I had a CDR or continuing disability review from SSA. While Paul didn t represent me on my SSDI claim he and his staff helped answer my questions or concerns and once again put me at ease. I received the long form along with a Daily Function Report and was required to get my doctor sign a notice that my migraines were persistent and prevented me from working. I felt like I was applying for disability again for the first time. This put a huge amount of stress and anxiety on me and Paul and Kyle really helped me understand the purpose and intent of the CDR and how important it was to be honest. My SSDI is still continuing as the SSA recently sent me a letter stating my disabilities are continuing. The Law firm didn t have to help me out but they did. That let me know that I wasn t just a payday to these guys. They actually care about their clients and they love helping veterans because they appreciate the sacrifice and they are Patriots. I was turned down for a few reasons, one that I understand and the others I do not - one being my age. I'm sorry the painful rare disease I suffer with doesn't discriminate on my age, unlike Morgan & Weisbrod.

Some lady from the office called me back after I asked for a consultation online. She asked me a bunch of questions just to tell me to go ahead and file for disability online and call them back after I get a decision on my case. Excuse me, but I was trying to get help before I file so that I won't be denied dummy! I guess that was their way of rejecting you, lol. Thank goodness there are DOZENS of other offices available that do this around here so they are cancelled in my eyes.

I want to say that Paul is a GOD send. I had

My name is Jessica Simmons. I had a long hard road obtaining my social security disability. Right at 3 + years to be exact. If you are considering legal support when filing for Social Security Disability look no further. These guys are the best. They are very helpful with filling out the initial forms and keeping on top of additional info requested by the SSA. They also handle the timely filing for appeals after the initial denial letter arrives. All important especially if you are suffering and dont keep up with the mail or feel good enough to spend days reviewing the law and figuring out why you want to appeal. This was all great and would have justified the legal fees by itself. But when I was denied twice and needed to appeal for a live hearing with a judge, this is where Morgan & Weisbrod really stood out.
I was assigned Michael Kelly. He was incredibly professional, had worked thousands of cases with my judge, reviewed every aspect of my case with me in person, and then pointed out in the hearing exactly where in the law my medical records supported the claim. For anyone going through this process, I'm sorry you are suffering enough to be reading these reviews.
