Don't eat outside...too many distractions

Don't eat outside...too many distractions

Went here for a business luncheon last week, not the greatest experience, the price and atmosphere was not good, but the staff was great and the food was good. Paid $30 for a chicken tostada and an iced tea, also paid for my client, so now I am out $60, also this included the opportunity to network with other business professionals, but this normally is $15-$20 on avg..many times free if you bring a guest..which I did.

The combination of street traffic noise and music playing made it almost impossible to hear people introducing themselves. I asked the waiter to shut the music off or turn it down and he did. Too much street noise but I could hear better. Flies were buzzing around and leaves were falling on me and my food, even though they had a net under the pepper tree to catch the leaves, I was sitting on the end of the table, so I and my guest had leaves and flies to contend with. Made a few good contacts, let the business group leaders know that I would recommend a different venue for the future. They mentioned that they had asked for the music to be turned off and were told no..Also the business is family owned and certain family members are welcoming and others are downright mean and difficult. First and last time here..I won't be back.

Great location and food for a Sunday brunch. They have wonderful sangria and many tasty Mexican dishes. A mariachi band is typically playing and the atmosphere is fun and friendly. We shared the shrimp sampler appetizer platter. Members of our party had the Travelers lunch and the huevos rancheros. On Sundays the brunch dishes come with a glass of champagne. This makes a nice extra treat to have with the meal.

Been coming to this place for over 20 years and the food and service are still the reasons we keep coming back. My parents and now my kids come here and we are always treated like family. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys Mexican food and a warm atmosphere.

I've heard the steaks are actually pretty delicious . Came here on taco Tuesdays, 2$ for chicken or beef tacos. I wouldn't come here on any occasion though, it is quite expensive for what it is. One of my friends ordered rice and beans and it was 7$!! Anyway, good service and fantastic atmosphere, just a tad bit expensive.

My one experience to date was decidedly mixed. The atmosphere was wonderful - the best of the Latino family-all-together charm, with a beautiful old-Mexico decor. Lovely. The service was polite and efficient - when you saw them. I had the distinct feeling that the restaurant was understaffed, whether that day in particular or in general, I don't know. Unfortunately, the food doesn't live up to the atmosphere. My meal was greasy and flavorless. Plenty of it, but I didn't finish it because it was just awful. I'd like to think that I caught them on a bad day, but I've had similar reports from friends. A shame. This place could really be a gem if they prepared even mid-grade food.

Traditional cheesy Mexican food with an amazing patio to dine outside. The BEST taco Tuesday in the OC and even nearby LA. Fat, delicious $2 tacos. A steal, just add their great salsa and a margarita and you are set.

Taco Tuesday is a must! Staff is super friendly, very accommodating. Came in on a Tuesday at 7:30 with the entire little league team and families, sat us in less than 3 minutes! The tacos are huge and delicious! And only $2!! Will go back often.

I brought the missus here for post-Valentine's dinner and sad to say the place is over rated. We were greeted and asked to wait in a little corner on the second floor, ordered cocktails and whisky which was more than I've paid at other fine dining areas. From there, we were escorted to the wine cellar, certainly a large selection.

I've been coming here for years. They have great Chile verde burritos and bean and cheese burritos. They have taco Tuesday with large tacos that are definitely worth the price! They have fresh chips and salsa too

I've been going to Morenos for well over 25 years. I was very happy to see that they were open for outdoor dining on their beautiful large patio. 1st of all due to covid they have everything roped off and it's fairly unclear as to what path to walk to get to the host. Once we made it to the host stand, we noticed that the host seemed especially grumpy even though it was only one o'clock. For my party of two she quoted me 25 minutes. I thought this was not accurate as only 1 party was ahead of us and there were multiple open tables, all socially distanced. Multiple tables were in the process of paying their checks or leaving, so I knew they would seat us quickly.
Once seated 1 gentleman brought chips, another brougt salsa, and a 3rd gentleman was our server. We ordered waters and ice teas and the mini chimichanga appetizer. We were ready to order lunch but our server ran away before we could order.
Once again, One person brought our appetizers another person brought us silverware, a 3rd person broughtbside plates and a 4th person brought me my drink, but not my friends. Also the appetizer was not a full order, they brought us 4 pieces instead of 8. I wondered were they doing this on purpose? It seemed like comedy.
Anyways, I was not trying to make this lunch an all day event so I was anxious to order our main course. I had to ask one of the many busser/food runners around if they could find our server so we could order lunch. It had been over 10 minutes since we had seen him.
Finally we order lunch i got the taco combo, my friend the chili Rojo burrito. 15 minutes later our server brought me an a la carte taco and my friends burrito. Thats when I finally asked the server what was going on. The questionable service the half order of appetizers and why didn't my combo come with rice OR beans?
He apologized and i asked For the check. $46 for a pretty bad experience. My last experience with marino's years ago was almost this badd and I had hoped that maybe this time would be a little bit better. I won't be back there is much better options for Mexican food within a 1/2 mile of Morenos. I would highly recommend any of those options over this one.

The girls working at the hostess desk seemed not trained or prepared for changes. Almost empty patio they had a hard time finding seating for 8 at 4:30. Then we had 2 more join us. Then it became even more difficult to accommodate us. Very unorganized tonight?

Had lunch at Moreno's with a large group. The food is great...always has been. But the wait staff was excellent. People in our party (of about 25) kept arriving at different times. We kept adding tables to our group, and the staff kept up with all the changes. Drinks and food arrived in a timely manner and we had separate checks for every person and that was handled very efficiently. Kudos to all who waited on us.

Great ambiance, delicious food and great service and there's a full bar. Indoor seating as well as outdoor, like a courtyard with water fountain, trees... very beautiful. Good for the whole family or a romantic dinner, even for first date. Friday and Saturday nights there's a live Mariachi band, they play for 1/2 or maybe 1 hour. They even have a small Mexican bakery, not sure the hours but it's not open at night.

Tried the tostado for first time....excellent. Beautiful outside courtyard for dining in if you are brave. I chose to take mine to go. Place was surprisingly crowded. Guess they havent been told about the pandemic

We love the outside patio..great ambiance especially in the evenings. Went to my Spanish Teachers 80th birthday party , so we were in their banquet room.. they did a nice job.
The only complaint I have and it seems to be a reoccurring theme. Their hostesses are not always the most pleasant... :(
And they are who sets the mood for your dining experience.
