Clean nice but didnt love hearing the music from the bar when we were trying to sleep..all we heard was music then at 3 am people screaming in the halls and heard someone having relations very loudly right after that. More of a place for young 20s to 30s.

I don't really get where all those high ratings are coming from, honestly. Ok - the staff is super-friendly, rooms are great looking, WiFi is superb.... But damm, that rooftopbar is a huuuge showstopper. Was staying on the 14th floor, which is 4 floors below the rooftopbar, and the level of sound that is entering the room in there is insane. Music starts around 11pm and doesnt stop earlier than 4am. Every day. They do provide earplugs, but the music is so loud that they don't help at all. Would'nt recommend staying here if you would like to sleep before 4am.

The lighting in this room is so terrible you can t even do your make up and I don t even do very much make up I couldn t even see myself also the downlighting makes you look terrible. there is no room for anything in this room the set up is terrible it is literally like a prison. I guess it would be fun if you enjoy a nice clean Swedish prison but the same time it is a prison it is confusing it is in maze and everything is neon I guess it is fun if you are 20 years old and it s prom night.

Fantastic location, extremely convenient for visiting Manhattan. Rooms are small but comfortable, with lots of nice features. Both bars in the hotel are great, and there is a great atmosphere overall.

This location is filled with energy. Great for families and young adults. Keep a few things in mind...
1. There is a roof bar and the 2nd floor has a bar and restaurant. If you don't want noise, request to be away from the elevator and on a floor at least 2 away from the top and the 2nd. We were on the 5th toward the back and slept great.
2. The lounge is great but, come nightfall it is only best for adults, maybe teens as well.
3. Food was fabulous. Pricey but, it's NYC. At least here you get good portions.
4. Check in was great. Staff was really nice. I had my daughter with me and they had rooms open early but, were nice about recommending a 20min wait to get a room away from the elevator.
5. The gym seemed nice. Never used it but, will keep it in mind for future visits.
6. They have a luggage room. We arrived at 8-9am and they held our bag for free all day till check in.
7. The rate was great. One night at $220 (only held $30 for incidentals) is fabulous to be in such a great location.
8. Roof bar was okay. Bartenders were really nice, drinks priced for NYC, music was great and view even better. Definite favor shown to hotel guests. Dress accordingly for a night out and no flip flops.
All in all, it is not your usual hotel but, that is what we loved. Definitely a change in the right direction. Can't wait for the DC one to open and have already booked a return.

Pretty hip place if your on vacation or just visiting. Had a lousy night's sleep. No way to actually REALLY turn off the heat. I turned off the thermostat function but it kept turning back on all night. I opened the widows to compensate but then had to listen to the noise from the NYC streets.. What a crappy night's sleep. Fancy restaurant downstairs will cost you a mortgage payment for anything but an appetizer and it's all typically overdone so called cuisine with bizarre ingredients for the sake of trying to be hip. If your young and don't really care about comfort this might be the place for you. If your a platinum Marriott member you'll be embarrassed fort Marriott that this is in their portfolio.

(this review is for magic hat, the rooftop bar upstairs.) awesome relatively new rooftop bar, opened a year and a half ago. great food, good drinks, and best of all mini golf in the back! with a risque theme, no less ;) there should be three holes, but the third hole was apparently broken by drunk customers, and hence is out of commission at the time of writing. hopefully it will be back in ACTION by the time you get in!!!

Good hotel if you hate breakfast and closets. The staff is nice, rooms are small but comfortable. The breakfast is the worst of any hotel I've stayed at. Don't offer it if you are going to f it up so poorly. Better with no option than white toast, scrambled eggs and salty bacon.

I stayed at the Moxy for a week during Thanksgiving and wouldn't go back if I'd ever go to NY again.

The staff at the front desk is friendly and the few issues we had on our first day got resolved quickly.

The entire hotel looks like it's made for the kind of person that's on Instagram all day. Colorful walls, lood music and other "cool" features. It's trying to look hip, but I'd honestly prefer luxury or functionality over aesthetics.

The rooms are small and there's not really enough space for 2 suitcases. There's room under the bed, but our suitcases were to big to fit. The bathroom was big though. The sink was outside of the bathroom, which was a bit strange.

During our last day we asked if it was possible to get us a taxi to the airport and the lady at the reception quoted us $75. We ended up paying $150 and were certainly scammed. The driver actually offered to drop us off at an ATM for a discount so we don't have to pay the 12% tax (Isn't it 8.875%?). I emailed Moxy about their terrible taxi partner but they never responded. This turned an overall decent experience in to a bad one.

One of the worst hotels I've ever been in, giving it 1 stars due to the fact that the staff are friendly, and because no lower grading level exists, but other than that its a complete sham as a hotel. Rooms are too small, and really try hard to be modernist, resulting in a complete loss of practicality, i.e. - a step to get into the bed with minimal space separating you from the TV, a sink in the middle of the room and not in the bathroom, no closet/wardrobe, lack of proper table and chairs.
In the 5 nights we spent here, 2 days in a row, house keeping did not even approach our room, and tried to blame it on us with the excuse (or rather a lie) that we had left the do not disturb light on, when we had clearly switched it off.
Honestly expected better from Marriott, seeing that they run some of the best hotels in the business, yet it seems that their architects were all off on holiday when they were designing The Moxy NYC, and left the work up to some chimps from Central Park Zoo.

I'm scoring this 5 stars because although it's not a Fairmont, Regis or 4S, it's delivers the perfect experience for what it wants to be. I had an early train ride out Penn so I decided to sleep the night close to Penn to not have to get up at 4. The Moxy showed up on HotelTonight for $143 all in, reviews seemed decent so for one night, not an issue. The check-in is self check-in, took 2 minutes and went up to the room. The room is on the small side, but it really is fine. Room is well furnished. Shower is great. I'd go there again without a second thought.

Where should I begin?? One of the worst hotel stays I've ever had. I stay at hotels all over the country and especially in NYC and this one was complete trash. Way over priced, smallest space imaginable, rude staff that was not helpful at all. Horrible service at the bar, takes 40 minutes to get a drink even if it's not that busy and the bar tenders just dont make eye contact. Soooooo loud in our room we couldn't sleep for three nights. THE WORST!!

I stayed here for 7 days, didn t have any problems...

I stayed here for 7 days, didn t have any problems or bad experience but also cant say that I spent much time in the hotel.

-safety:
You can t get to the bedroom floor without a key card

-size:
The hotel is big, I would say high I had a room No_1438 on the 14th floor(14th!!!), there s also a roof to chill & I wasn t even close to the roof

-food:
The only thing I got there was a free-every-day-breakfast with coffee. But I saw you can order something else if you want to & the meals are pretty cheap. The last thing about breakfast: because of COVID-19 they have a bag on the 1st floor waiting for you from 6am to 10am. In the bag you re gonna have: 1 fruit (banana/orange), 1 Dannone yogurt (and they expect you to eat it with a knife&fork somehow), 1 granola bar, 1 bag of orange juice and a muffin (that smells like soy sauce I wish i knew why), you can also have tiny pretzels. But there re like a lot of places nearby where you can have a better option of food (I would recommend a sushi bar called Wasabi)

-location:
Location is the best! You can kinda see the Times Square from your window. And you can find everything you need/ want like CVS, Bank, H&M etc not far away. There re lot of subway stations around (if you know how to use subway): just go to whatever part of NY your soul wants. Central Park-omg go straight though Times Square and it s gonna take about 15 minutes to get there: easy!

-Problems that have bothered me personally:

Soundproofing: every morning around 6am I woke up hearing people next door taking shower, also you would hear everything if somebody was talking in the hallway...so anyway

Window: there was the only one tiny window in the whole room, so it kinda felt like I was living in a barrel (but not gonna say that this was something that ruined my trip, no, just I wish I could have another window)

A young hip place to stay. Exactly what we needed for the night. We'll stay again for a weekend. I'm not certain it will meet our needs for a week long stay. I'd like to see them add a drawer or bins for small clothing.

Centralized perfectly to access both time square and Central Park. We never needed transportation. Everything from food to monuments it was accessable walking. Rooms were impeccable. Staff was always happy and energetic. This will be our future hotel from here going forward.

Overpriced and Not Up to Marriott Standards

Overpriced and Not Up to Marriott Standards

My room was extremely loud. It sounded like there was a club above my room, and I did not get a lot of sleep. I made several requests before check in that I wanted the quietest room possible. I was in town for the New York Marathon and I believe this affected my performance in what I came to town to do.

Other issues:
My shower kept flooding the bathroom floor no matter which direction I pointed the shower head and I had to use all my towels but one to soak up the water. There was very low water pressure in the sink. The TV kept turning off on its own. I was unable to skip the line at check in because my phone would not work properly to operate the elevator (I have and iPhone 6S and downloaded the app). So I had to get a key card. There was also a lot of street noise. I understand its NYC, but it sounded as if the window was left open. I ve never experienced noise level inside of an NYC hotel room like that before. I did not get a replacement menu after ordering morning breakfast on the first day. Housekeeping did not visit my room one of the days to replace all my wet towels, make the bed, or take away trash. I made sure I did not turn on the do not disturb light. The bedding felt wet the first night as if it was not completely dried after cleaning. I did not get my scheduled wake-up call the day of check out and almost missed my scheduled ride to the airport.

I don t know if this is a typical experience at Moxy, the noise level probably is, so I would not recommend staying here to anyone. The experience certainly did not live up to the Marriot name, especially for the inflated price during marathon weekend. I also contacted the hotel and Marriott corporate before leaving this review and they did not seem to care. They basically said sorry you had a bad experience, come try again . I would never return to this hotel, even if they paid for my stay.

Very modern and utilitarian efficiency rooms. The bathroom space in our room with two double beds was bigger than the sleeping space. I didn't mind too much but with no closet, it was hard to move around two people's stuff. Overall impressed with the clean, fresh style and this hotel also has the coolest smart elevator system I've seen.

I was very disappointed with my experience at Moxy Times Square. The staff was very rude and uninformed at check-in. The young lady who checked me in did not go over the amenities of the hotel and when I asked she rolled her eyes and reluctantly told me about the rooftop. She said the rooftop only took reservations the day of and I had to contact their management team via phone or email; I sent 2 emails and called 3 times before I went to the lobby to speak to a manager. (I called the lobby from my room 5 times and my cell phone 5 times and to no avail).
I spoke with Ali about not getting through to the Crew via phone and about rooftop reservations. He told me I needed to make reservations 30 days in advance and that hotel guests do not have priority over the general public. As far as not getting through to the Crew from my room phone his excuse was, There s a lot going on with Covid and everything so we re trying to get systems in place for our phones. It was an excuse and in that moment I understood this property lacks leadership, friendliness, and basic hospitality skills. (I haven t seen any employees smile or speak with a pleasant tone during my stay). Also, no one is enforcing masks, despite signs being posted throughout the public areas of the hotel.
It s safe to say, I will not be returning to a property that has so much potential but lacks the true essence of hospitality and best interests for their guests.

Particular and very nice hotel. The staff is courteous and helpful. The lounge bar is very nice and offers solutions for different tastes. The only flaw of the night for those staying. You can hear the music and the hotel supplies the caps. For the rest recommended.

Small but well laid out room. Multiple bars and restaurants on site. Great location. Not expensive if you compare to other hotels in the neighbourhood. The roof top bar is a little pretentious, or maybe we were just to old to enjoy it...the young beautiful people seem to love it.

Very cool, well design and efficiently operated hotel at a very convenient location. That pretty much says it. A finer look... The rooms are small, but designed well, so you don't feel too cramp. The problem is that the wifi is fast, but they do stop working from time to time. Not ideal for business. And the fire alarm go off several times when we stayed, but they were all false alarm. The bad worse thing is that it's very loud, and there is virtually no sound proof mechanism. You can hear all the party and every garbage truck that come pick up the trash 3am in the morning. Woke us up every night.

The room was really nice, if a bit small, but I think that is what they were going for. The worst part were there no bath towels in the room and when I went to the lobby to ask for them, they said they would put me down to have some brought up. More than half an hour later, we still had no towels, so I called down and a staff member said they would send someone up "immediately." My partner ended up having to use a wash cloth to dry off, and I used a hand towel to drive off. I will never stay at this hotel again.

The rooms are cute and niche. Well thought through and comfy. Being across from the elevator is not my favorite but someone has to stay there and it was cozy all the same. Negative, the room was not tended cleaned during the stay and the check in process a bit clumsy with employees playing and I e guy behind one many booths not paying attention. Will try again.

I stayed here the opening week. Loved it. I don't go to NYC to competitively or conspicuously consume. I go because I love the City. And what a perfect launch site for City excursions. I ran to Central Park. I walked to a Broadway play and the AMNH. And I had a rousing game of foosball at the Moxy. Life is good. Don't waste it, or your money, on other people's dreams.

This hotel has a very relaxed feel. If you don t like music, a young vibe and very relaxed staff then this isn t the place for you. (Trust me relaxed staff isn t an understatement, they literally play ball games in the front lobby) The rooms are very small, smaller than expected and smaller than the photos show. Although they are small they are very carefully planned so that you don t feel too cramped. The sliding glass door into the bathroom is quite transparent so it s more suited to couples or singles rather than families. The shower head is amazing but the shower doesn t drain properly causing it to leak into the bathroom which isn t great. The housekeeping is average at best. Our sheets weren t changed at all in the 4 nights we were in the hotel and the bed wasn t ever made properly (the doona was just thrown over the bed). The TV and sound Bar is great but because it sits at the foot of the bed it is easy to kick off the wall and gets a bit annoying at times but that s really a minor issue. I only have great things to say about the restaurant, club, bar and common areas of the hotel. The food, drinks, service and general atmosphere is great. Definitely a self contained hotel. Overall I think the hotel is priced slightly too high for what is offered considering how small the rooms actually are. However I would stay here again as I know it is clean, relaxed and in a good location.

Been here 4 days. Haven t seen or had house keeping once. Rooms are extremely small. There s not even a closet. Had to go searching for towels. I m not really picky at all but the little things you expect when staying at a hotel (like coming back and your bed is made) this place doesn t do. At all. Easily the worst hotel I ve ever stayed at.

Booked a suite for a seven day stay but was told upon arrival that the room was not available, but would be the next day. We confirmed arrangements with front desk to transfer rooms the next morning and when the time came to change rooms in the afternoon, we were told the suite was not available and to try again the next day. The manager eventually admitted it was unlikely that we would ever get the room that we had booked and pre-paid for, at which point he agreed to refund me and allow for cancellation of the remaining days.

During our short stay, it was apparent that the number of lifts did not adequately serve the high volume of non-guests who visited the bars and other facilities, more so as non-guests often realized the lifts did not work without room keys so would often push in front of guests when lifts arrived.

This is an great hotel to stay if you want to be close to times square and all of the happenings that go on there day and night. Because it's in the heart of Manhattan expect to pay for it ...because this hotel is pricey. But it has a great bar a good night club on the top floor, great dancing music and expect to meet good people while there. The rooms are cozy . . . meaning it has great amenities (a good shower...comfy bed) but they're small. If you are a millennial or sometimes act like one... you'll probably enjoy staying at the Moxy.

Hi guys...The Hutchison's here. We stayed from March 20th- 25th. Hubby had post up on trip advisor but not directly with yourselves. Just wanna thank y'all from us Scots for an little late morning welcome. ( Us, the worse for wear,). Hotel, quirky, modern and hip. The needs for the visitor are here. Sleep, shower, out! Get exploring! Just what we needed. Added attributes, restaurant n roof top bar! C'mon, this hotel has it, and ideally situated between Empire State Building and Times Square, with Macy's 2 mins around the corner..hang a left at end of road! On an side note Moxy, gave you an Postcard from Scotland....hope Boss approves! And that we'll be the first up on the board when raised along with fellow far flung travellers......ehhhh, booking. Com, not trip advisor. My mistake..loln
