Love eating here! Great service and it's a nice place to hang out while waiting for a connection!
Love eating here! Great service and it's a nice place to hang out while waiting for a connection!
A good place to eat or have a beer in Concourse A at YVR. Monk"s is a frequent spot for eating or relaxing when traveling from or through Vancouver.
Good food, fast service, Monk's consistently delivers. The menu is sufficiently broad so you should be able to find something for everyone in your party.
Food was okay, but nothing fantastic. I will find other places to eat next time.
Good beer selection, some tasty preflight snacks. COVID 19 precautions not too invasive
Had the omelette and friend had eggs benny. I would say eggs Benny's are pretty good. It is slightly over priced as it is expected of airport prices and there was a line to be wait listed but we didnt have to wait too long. For the dishes they were willing to substitute whatever you wanted so if you would have avocado and mushrooms on your eggs benny you could and they just charge you for extra toppings. It's nice to get some real food before another flight. Let's be real food in the plane is really bad haha. Anyways would recommend and there are lots of plugs to charge your phones. Good resting spot.
Awesome especially when you can get on a plane have nice drink and food before.
Dismal breakfast. Coffee re-made from old grounds. Anaemic sawdust sausages and perfectly square processed hash browns. Not the food you want in your system before boarding. Only reasonable food was the whole wheat toast (but it was ruined by cheap overly sweet packet jam).
Never again. I d rather have COViD and have to eat hospital food through a feeding tube
What you'd expect from an airport bar . The ceasar and service were meh.
I always have a fine time here. The food is pretty good, the service is pretty good, the prices are fine. It's a fine place to hang out between flights
Steak was tough. How tuff was it? It was so tuff I had to ask the person beside me to chew it once before I did.
Frozen homefries out of a McCains bag no doubt, delivered cold with a $17 salmon eggs-benny.
The BC ferry food equivalent of airport food: a very small step above fast food but you get the privilege of paying premium prices. Unfortunately, if you don t want to eat at the food court, this is the only option in this wing of the terminal. The service has always been fast, friendly and efficient, which is why I m giving it 2 stars instead of 1. If there were other options, I would not return. Hard to say if I d choose this over BC ferry food... on second thought, I ll stick with the Pirate Pack.
Rather pricey for portion size and the food was nothing spectacular
Service was friendly. The food was ok and served hot but pricing is really way too high even for an airport. They don't have a great selection of beers on tap either so really the only thing going for them is the location.
Peri Peri chicken was AMAZING. Price was pretty par for the course at an airport, ie. Not cheap, but generally I expect poor quality food at an airport. I would be stoked to eat this anywhere. Friendly staff too :)
Meh. It's expensive for a limited menu. Sadly YVR's domestic terminal has few other choices beyond fast food on this side of security.
Great service and amazing fries! Ray is the best bartender!
Wow, talk about rude service. I sat for a good 10 minutes, before I had to flag down someone myself (at the bar!). Then I needed utensils, I asked a server that was standing behind me (because no one was behind the bar), he said wait and ask them at the bar. An elder lady was trying to flag down the bar tender, when one passed by I politely mentioned that she was trying to order. He replied yeah, I heard her, I have 4 other things in my mind right now (so basically he had ignored her). Lol, seriously not ever coming back. Oh, the stake arrived literally less than 2 minutes of being ordered and felt like it was just warmed up. AND apparently you can't get a stake knife at the airport. So I had to fight with it with a joke-knife that barely cut. I know this last one is probably not up to them, but at least let the customer know when they order.
Sat for 20 minutes and no one came to serve us. Left before ordering/eating because we had no faith we would get our order before our flight.
Only restaurant on that side (Air Canada). Menu is small drinks are expensive and the worst part is the place is huge but rarely open the other side so they make you wait.
For the price the food was pretty mediocre. I could see it being a good stop if you have a long wait for your connection, however if you are in even a slight hurry then it isn't a spot I'd recommend. The wait was quite long given the relatively small amount of people there at the time of ordering.
Burger and salad were both very underwhelming. The burger taste like something you d buy from a grocery store prefrozen then thrown on a grill. Caesar salad had more parmesan cheese than lettuce it seemed. Wouldn t recommended but nice place to sit and enjoy a drink while waiting for a flight.
Airport food and drink is a minimal market but this place continues to feel like YVR: soulless and designed for people who enjoy nothing.
Slow service. Expensive for quality. Good thing for them they are one of the only options for flight delayed passengers to get a bite/drink.
Very greasy fish and soggy coleslaw. Also seemed to be very short staffed??..was reflected in the lack of service.
Generous and well-prepared portion of Pacific halibut.
Visited this restaurant on a Sunday around 6 pm. It wasn't busy. We ordered a lamb shank, a burger and a ceaser salad. The lamb had not much taste even with the gravy. The smash potato was dry. The veggie side were not fresh. The burger was just okay. The salad was below average. Bugs were flying around. Vancouver airport should review all their restaurants. They were all below expectations.
The waitress was friendly but she recommended the full rack of ribs over spanish style rice but when the dish arrived the first thing that came to mind was that this tasted like something you would get from a lower end buffet. Before taking the first bite the meal did not look appealing and the ribs appeared to be over cooked or precooked. The barbecue sauce tasted like cheap store bought sauce and the rice tasted like it was made with a mix and the quality and flavor I would compare to what I would get at a school lunch line. When I noticed the other dishes around me they seemed to have a better presentation and looked more appealing. I have eaten here before so I know the food can be better but I would "NOT" recommend the ribs and rice to anyone.
Server was slow to show up. Then food took much longer to arrive than I am used to at an airport. Had to immediately get a box, pay and hustle to my flight.
Food was decent though.
Service was slow.
Ordered the Kale salad with prawns, asked for dressing on the side - got a mixed green salad, drenched in sauce, with shrimps. Shrimps were overcooked, croutons were stale.
The salad also contained unidentified crispy bits, texture of deep fried pieces of lettuce, taste of burnt toast. Menu didn't explain what it was. Did not have time to return it cause I had a flight to catch.
Server didn't come back between the time she dropped off the salad and 10 minutes after I put my napkin in my plate to make it obvious that I was done. She asked how it was and I said poor. Plate still contained the croutons and the crispy things and a lake of dressing.
She replied with a smile and silence as I paid for my $20 meal.
There are other places to eat by this gate but they are scarce. Highly recommend to walk to a different gate for dinner.
Food was cold and the place was overpriced. Would recommend going elsewhere in YVR airport.
Had a nice plate of sea food tacos and a cold beer, nice place and good food!
Good food stop to relax and grab a bit waiting for your flight
Ordered the back ribs. It came very quickly and tasted like left over, very disappointed given the high price they charged for it!!
The food was pricey, and terrible. I regret to brought my wife there! I thought we could finally enjoy some good food there after a long journey because the price on the menu is high, but I was wrong! So don't go there
Hostess was very unsociable, made me feel uncomfortable walking into the restaurant. If it wasn't for our waitress Anita she was honestly the high light of my flying experience. I was absolutely starving and nervous about flying and Anita was hilarious. Best customer service, made everything 100% better. Highly recommend this place all because of the amazing waiting staff.
I had the beef sandwich au jus with a side salad. Both were fantastic. Very impressive for airport food.
A good spot for breakfast if you're early as their eggs benedict is great, and their classic breakfast is also good, albeit a bit pricey (but that's airport prices for you). Staff are a bit stand-offish (but that's airport staff for you). Recommended for a good sit down meal if you have the time.
The waitress was amazing. Food was decent and quick, probably just as fast as the food court (took 30 minutes from being seated to paying the bill)
Staff was friendly and accommodating for me being all by myself. Crab cakes were great, kale salad was just okay and creme brule was pretty on point. Would definitely return back here on another trip through Vancouver Airport.
Always a great stop and very quick. If you're in a rush to get on your next flight, but have 20 minutes to spare, this place will get you fed and on your way in no time - with no detriment to the quality. Recommend the halibut fish and chips.
Truly Terrible, overpriced food. Head a little further and eat ok good that's, at least, more reasonably priced.
The prices are inflated, but that's to be expected at an airport restaurant. For those prices, however, you receive far below average quality meals. Portions are small and the ingredients seem to have been just reheated from a frozen state. Its worst failing, being in an airport, was the speed of service, which was absolutely glacial. Everything from placing the order, to receiving our meals, to finally getting the bill took much longer than would be considered normal, making this a dicey proposition for travellers on a schedule.
Tasty burger served with proficiency in comfortable atmosphere. Definitely a great airport option
Great caesar salad but really disappointing reheated burger. Hostess was not helpful though weight staff were great. Not many power outlets.
"Hostess" sat me in a terrible location right by their sink and work station in a nearly empty restaurant. When I asked for a different table she just stared at me chewing her gum.
From past disappointing experiences here, I'm not surprised.
YVR needs another sit down restaurant near the C gates.
I m not sure on how to rate this .. I myself was taken well care of at this place but did witness the bartender belittle a Mexican gentleman, the gentleman wasn t quite sure of the currency conversation, first he tried to pay with peso s , it wasn t a sorry sir , we don t take that currency, it was more on the lines as .. your in Canada, we only take Canadian or American !! So when the gentleman got his beer , he was also confused on the price, I understand it s the airport and a beer is 10 bucks + , he kinda didn t, my wife helped him with a conversion app on her phone, but the bartender kinda snapped back with .. those are banking rates , we have different, which left her thinking she did something wrong, I understand people have bad days sometimes , but I myself wouldn t show it off in a public line of work like that, it kinda made me sad thinking if I was in Mexico not really understanding the language and currency and someone treating me like that, I d be lost. Monks grill is still a nice place and I d go back there, but hopefully people realize.. treat people as in how we are-selves would like to be treated in return , it goes along way
Disappointed
Beef deep featured what appeared to be multi day old beef ...no flavor ...cut too thick ...a single 5" long bun that was rated "concrete" on the toughness scale ... Fries were meh ....grease is too old and not hot enough ...soo dead tasting.
The highlights were the glass of water with only 2 cubes of ice...the ketchup which allowed the fries to be edible and was added to the beef dip to provide SOME flavor ...and the au jus ...which ...thankfully was present to allow the bun to be softened a tad before attempting consumption.
Avoid this location if you want decent food.
Expensive, but expected when you're at the airport. Like their Caesars and chicken wings. Great staff
Nice place. Pretty comfy, and quick, even while busy. Good, sizeable burger and fries. Bacon is well worth it.
Pretty terrible. Way overpriced for the mediocre quality. Probably the worst Caesar salad I've ever had, incredibly bland. Went with a party of 6 and all the food seemed underwhelming.
The glass of wine is about the only thing worth paying for. I had the seafood tacos and they tasted like they came out of a microwave meal. The Halibut was over cooked and the tacos themselves were very poorly put together. Like I had the ends of the lettuce( The gross bitter part) i'd say for the most part it was not worth the money. And the service was not friendly.
Eggs Benny were completely cooked through, the English muffins were not toasted and there was barely any sauce... The saddest breakfast I had in a while.
Great food, fast friendly service. Reasonably priced.
Anytime I fly through Vancouver I have myself a beverage and a snack/ meal. Always good. Service is top notch and quick
It's an airport pub, so my expectations were not very high, but I was fairly disappointed. It was not very organized and it took us some time to be seated. Then it took some time to actually get our drinks. Once we ordered the food it arrived relatively quickly, I figured that was a positive til we started eating. That was less positive. Both meals that we got were blah at best. There are other options at at YVR, my advice would be to try the other ones first.
Great service by Kateryna - beautiful chilled Chardonnay
Pricey but good food. Airport dining so limited menu.
Worse omelette I ve ever had at a restaurant. It was an over cooked scrambled egg wrapped in big pieces of bacon and brown-colored avocado. They didn t even bother chopping up on the toppings.
I gave 2 stars because the service was good.
Pretty good bar, best you can get in the domestic terminal. They have some local brews on tap.
Short staffed. Staff that were there were inattentive and rude, you could tell everyone at the bar was waiting to get out and some were being helped over people who had been waiting some time. Don t bother with the overpriced.
Good service. The food is not very good. Has no flavour what so ever. Don't order the well liquor it's not very good at all.
Not only did my lamb shank come in a very small serving, the shank itself was so nervy I couldn't eat half of it. 35 bucks poorly spent. Had to go somewhere else to for lunch.
Burger was store bought patty with no taste. Bun was dry and crumbled. Staff were nice but food was rubbish.
