Only place to drink on the AC side but if my layover is long enough I will walk the 8 minutes to the westjet side and eat/drink there. Monks is such slow service, food isn t the best, and they always have the same few tap beers with nothing ever changing. I ve been here at least 50 time s and nothing changes. Come on guys, get with the program and have some seasonal taps going.

Monk's Grill
If you are into sitting at a bar for 10 minutes with an empty glass in front of you. This place is for you. Unless you are a regular you are nothing. When at YVR go somewhere else to have a drink
Really not impressed with this place. I would avoid at all costs if you are in YVR. First the prices for breakfast are a bit overpriced! Secondly the service was terrible! The wait was ridiculous, our server was not friendly and seemed disinterested in being there. Further the rest of the staff seemed the same way. No one wanted to be helpful or provide any level of service. I wasn't even offered a highchair for my child or coffee refills. Never coming back!
Good place to grab a meal and a drink in pre flight mode regardless of what time zone your body is at . Quick service and a decent menu of standard comfort and travellers meals
It's an airport restaurant. The service is fast and efficient, but pricey. Exactly as you'd expect, but quality is good.
Good food, Wonderful staff. As overpriced as one expects from airport food though.
Food was decent. Staff were very friendly, quick and attentive. A little pricey, but expected it to be ao in an airport.
Bad, bland frozen burger, slow service and they don't want to be there.
Massively overpriced. The prime rib beef deep greatly under delivers. But not bad by any means. And your options in the airport are hard pressed. So... That considered
Good food. Excellent service. Waitress was super attentive to the dietary requirements of my companion.
Not a bad place to stop and have a bit to eat at while waiting for a plane
No gluten free food, had a bug in my beer and it was quite pricy would not recommend.
Sub par food & no vegetarian entree options for my colleague.
Place is hopping, server I had was great but the food was just okay.
My food was rather delicious but it was my server at 9pm December 15th seated near the kitchen station, that made all the difference. I have a gluten problem. She was able to help me make my choice without worrying I would be uncomfortable on my next flight that would be 5hrs long.
Ordered steak and eggs. The eggs and potatoes were well cooked, but the "medium steak was boiled and a lot like eating a rubber door mat. The best tool to cut it would probably be a cutoff wheel, but this being an airport, all I got was a butter knife... Wouldn't recommend it.
2017....no gluten free options on the menu and no GF vodka. Water it is.
Had the breakfast hash, was pretty good but maybe some more hollandaise would have been better. Was able to get a table near an outlet and restaurant wasnt super busy so could set up my laptop and get some work done. Staff was pleasant and good arrived quickly, overall pretty good place to get a table and have some decent food.
This place has been great for me over several years every time I have a lunch layover in YVR. The chicken provalone panini with small green salad with the house orange vinaigrette is excellent!
We just stopped for a Coke and a water. Great service!
Good and a bit pricey ... but in an airport we expected it!
Honestly terrible. Stopped by for a meal before my flight and it was a complete waste of money. Ordered the steak and eggs for CAD$23.00 and a coffee, coffee was mediocre while the steak I felt they should have paid me to eat. Overcooked and a terrible piece of meat, service wasn t great and I wouldn t waste my time here again. Do what you can to eat somewhere else, I truly don t like leaving negative reviews but I have to be honest, have a great day.
Good selection of beers on tap, good menu. Burgs are particularly average with nothing to special.
Breaded wings, typical middling airport food. Good selection of Okanagan wine.
This is usually my regular spot to relax when on a layover at YVR. The staff is incredibly fast and friendly and the menu has some great items all prepared with care. I think their menu must have been reduced due to COVID so excited to see when things expand again.
Ok got the ceasar salad couldnt eat it Then i tried the french fries ..they were burnt W some sort of gravey ..going to walk away w a 35$ bill and nothing to eat Very bad
Super expensive Beer and a caesar 28.50! And the caesar was sub par. Service quick though.
I ordered food, and after 45 minutes wait food didn't show up. I cancelled the order and left
No vegetarian options. Over priced for average food.
Don t get the breakfast food taste over cooked and like it s been sitting in the warming tray for quite some time.
Questionable service, does not seem to fit how busy they are. Food quality varies wildly. Steak is a poor cut, improperly seasoned, and cooked on a grill that desperately needs a cleaning.
Very busy when I got here...Christmas rush at the airport. Ordered the ribs. They were excellent and got here fast. Sat at the bar...bar tender was awesome. She was slammed but took care of the whole bar plus drinks for the whole restaurant. Jean was her name.
Loved the chicken, bacon and provolone panini without tomatoes. It's a must try!
Food was alright, I guess better than most airport food joints, but very pricy and service was so-so...
Good burgers and beef dip. Also has some nice on tap beer.
Breakfast was very good and the service was exceptional during a very busy time at the restaurant.
Had fish sandwich here. A very good food for an airport restaurant
Good food and quick service even during a rush. Prices are pretty well on par for what you'd expect inside the security zone in an airport. Good selection of beverages and a clean, simple menu that offers something for everyone.
Good place to get breakfast while waiting for your flight. The portions are big and the service is friendly.
The food was ordered wrong so it took a little extra time, the server took our order and that's about it. The food was subpar and very greasy.
A little pricey, but to be expected for airport food. The quality of the food was fantastic and both my partner and myself enjoyed our meals. The server was perfectly friendly, and service was fast. Would recommend if you re looking for a good meal in the Vancover airport.
Steak was tough and flavorless. Ordered medium and it got served well-done.. I've had better steak from a hospital cafeteria.
The front line staff are great and seated our family of 5 with no issues. Waitress was prompt, friendly, and checked in frequently. The kitchen though could not cook a striploin to save a life. First was obviously microwaved beyond reason second was so blue it was mooing. Others in my party said the food was fine but stay away from the grill.
Really solid food, had the halibut and chips, very good. Good service, good selection, I'll be back.
Really mediocre food. Options are really limited not sure if its because of covid but that shouldn't be an issue at this point. Service wasn't great. Would reccomend going elsewhere
Very busy airport bar. Pricy like most but great food and beer.
Food is fast. Not worth the cost. No vegetarian/vegan meals (just one appetizer - vegetarian) unless you remove the meat from some items, but still have to pay the same amount.
It was not busy and the service was prompt..... I asked the fish they didn't have the asparagus so I changed to the chicken peri peri. It was well done and well presented. Surprisingly for this type of meal I didn't expect such quality. Based on other review probably better to come in this place when it's not too busy. I enjoyed it.
Great tasting food here. The Caesars are phenomenal
Rip off. $13.00 for a handful of bagged greens and 2 slices of cucumber. Only reason for 2 stars was service was lovely
Good place to grab a drink or bite to eat before catching a flight
Stayed at the Sheraton because my flight was cancelled. The service was slow and there was a little girl that had vomitted and no one picked it up for an hour. I was disgusted eating there and there were 2 different clients that came in to eat and saw the vomit on the floor and left. Soup was good though but the lack of cleanliness of the place would make me pay to go elsewhere and discard my air Canada voucher for food there.
10 minutes before I could order a drink at the bar Understaffed 18 dollars plus tip for a highball of vodka cranberry
Excellent, swift service. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was considdering the establishment is in the airport. Our meals arrived at our table quickly they were beautifully presented anf fresh. I recomend Monk's Grill to anyone witj a domestic layover at the Vancouver Airport.
The bartender is always very helpful and polite. Knows a lot about what is in the airport around the restaurant.
Served me eggs Benedict without the hollandaise and said "that's fine right?" No word of a lie.
Quick service. Nice reasonable prices for great airport meals.
Great food and good service. Price was reasonable given the restaurant is located in the airport. Will definitely eat here again if we have a stopover in Vancouver.
Good food. Terrible service. For the majority of our meal we felt pretty abandoned. We were never checked up on, my other half WOULD have liked another drink but we never got any further service after the food was brought out! We are not picky patrons but this was probably one of the worst experiences we've ever had (so bad that this is also our first time writing a review!) Even after our table was cleared and our body language was clearly stating our intent to leave, not once were we addressed. We had to literally get up and chase down our server just to get our bill. I can't say if this is a normal experience at this restaurant or if it was just our server? But it was shocking and for a second we were thinking, did we offend this guy or what?! It was almost intentional becuase nobody could possibly be that neglectful to their table -it wasn't busy and honestly if he was cranky because of a bad day (and that's OK we all have those kinds of days) I'd still prefer cranky INTERACTIVE service over NO service at all. Thanks and end rant :)
Service for breakfast is usually spotty. Dinner has always been great. Anticipate prices being a few dollars higher than if you were eating on the outside.
Average at best..nothing says we want your money like having a glass with your tab in it while you try to relax and have a beer..hot chicken wings...if you think a side of Franks hot sauce is spicy..it's a lite tickle in my throat..would I come back? Probably it's the only place to get beer past security..even though it's 10 bucks per
Stopped here for a late dinner, both my father an myself had the steak and I'm sorry I'm from Alberta and it was not a triple a Alberta beef. The steaks were absolutely horrible!!! Then to top it off it was $33 meal...Wow like just Wow! Service was ok but does not change the food, please think twice about coming to this resturant!!
My review is based on many times in this place. Clean, fresh, classic rock music, very fast service, friendly staff, dishes are very good. Prices are reasonable. Great place to have a drink and meal while waiting for your flight.
Meh. But probably the best non fast food choice in the domestic terminal.
Mediocre food but probably the best place to wait for your flight outside of the lounges.
Surprisingly nice. The prices are steep, but the food is very good and the atmosphere is pleasant. It was quiet and felt like we weren't in an airport. Our hostess was pleasant and helpful, and overall this is a good respite after a long flight.
Amazing food, giving it only four stars because service was extremely slow, it wasn't busy so there wasn't a reason for it taking 30 minutes to get the check after asking for it especially if you are in an airport.
Great halibut and chips, in an airport too... Service was fast and friendly.
It's airport food, and it's the only option at YVR. Had Mac and Cheese. Giving it an extra star because I didn't get food poisoning, so it's for that going for it, which is nice.
