As I've been to nearly every brewery in the area (and hundreds throughout the U.S.), I figured I'd try out the newest in Hampton Roads. I went with a group of 10 and we all tried a variety of different brews. Personally, stouts and porters are my favorite. MoMac had 2 porters on draft and a stout. I tried all 3. The regular porter and stout had a terrible finish. The initial taste was good but they'd leave a bad after-taste. The peanut butter porter was much better and had a nice finish. The rest of the group had the IPAs, Belgian, Saison, and Ales. The majority of the comments I heard were, "it's decent", "it's not too bad", "not my favorite, but drinkable". There were a few that did like the particular beer they had. The atmosphere was OK. By the time the place filled in with people, the place was echoing and you couldn't hear the music. The brewery is nestled in a strip mall, so your view outside is a parking lot. Nothing special there. Most of the bartenders struggled with pouring the beers without producing a lot of head, but only being a week old, I'm sure they'll come through that. But the breaking point for me are the prices. Most beers are $9 each when you add in the tax and a modest tip. Have we all gone crazy? When did it become cool to drink "decent, OK, not too bad beer" at $9 a pop. Especially when you're drinking it directly from the source. MoMac isn't the only brewery in the area with prices like this, but there are other brewery's that cap out in the $5-6 range (with better beers in my opinion), so I'll take my business there. If the peanut butter porter remains on tap for a while, and prices ever drop to a reasonable level, maybe I'll return.

EXPENSIVE! we use to love this place, and the beer is still great, But $8 average for a beer is a little steep. They are also charging $1(exactly) tax for an $8 beer... Portsmouth food/beverage tax is 6.5%, that doesn t add up.

Great place to relax. Bought tickets for beer in advance which allowed for faster and smoother service. Have soft drinks available if you're not into beer. Food trucks are outside with lots of delicious choices. There is a play area for the kids with a chalkboard and toys. Nice to have a safe, fun place nearby.

Been here a few times. Sundays are great. Beer isn't bad. Food trucks are good. However on a Friday night it was overrun with children. Like 20+ children under 10 years old. Not going to be coming back then that's for sure.

Love the MO! My husband and I are fans of so many MoMac beers - PoNo Porch Swing Shandy, Blueberry Wheat, Citra Back, Chessie's, Skeeder, etc! I also love bingo night and often go with friends.

Great Food, Great Beer. Too Noisy. Beer and the food from the visiting food truck was excellent. Very loud. Difficult to have a conversation. Kids? Not a good idea. I can't blame the brewery for unruly children but...couldn't play corn-hole because kids were jumping on the boards and grabbing the bean bags. Last thing I want to do after a day of work is dealing with brats.

It's nice to finally have a local brewery within walking distance of my house. MoMac offers up a wide selection of brews to satisfy any palette. Don't let the strip mall exterior scare you away. Inside it's warm and friendly.

This little brewery is walking distance from our house. They usually have good food trucks and you can order from the pizza place next door. Great selection of craft beers and friendly staff. They have yoga days, bingo, live music and trivia nights. I like to support local business and you can't get much more local then these guys.

Great place & very good beer. Contrary to what one of the other reviews said, five bucks is not bad for a craft beer. And tickets are the best way to handle a grand opening when it's busy.

In here on a Friday night and it's a nice atmosphere. Live performance from a local musician (always a plus), nice craft beers and games for your table. I'm the best at uno(fyi). One thing that needs to be controlled is the children. They are running wild. I love the family friendly environment but there are glasses everywhere, for instance. Last but not least, Evan was the best! He asked what I like and pointed me in the right direction of their delicious craft brews. Definitely coming back... Maybe not on a Friday though... #GTAcademy

Forget this place! They demanded that before entering I buy tickets outside the door at $5 each for beer. Outrageous price and that's without even being allowed inside to see what kind of beer they have!

Great brewery. Always have several types of beers on tap, most likely something for everyone. They do not serve food but have food trucks (usually great ones) come by often and there is a good pizza place next door.

Friendly face's and great beers here. Each of their brews are references to local landmarks or culture too... Like their JIB blonde, Preservator doppelbock. Their space is perfect for birthday parties and our non-profit's board even meets up there from time to time.

Finally a brewery that's close to my house. I went with a friend and only tried a couple of their beers but I was satisfied with the ones I tried. I like the atmosphere and the close proximity to a Rittas pizza that offers table top delivery to the brewery. The beer selection here was fairly well rounded although I was a bit disappointed they hadn't at the time of review added a sour beer to their cannon of offerings. None the less I like this place and will be going back and I was informed that a new beer is added weekly so I remain hopeful that a sour offering is on the way.

My favorite part was the taco food truck they had available. The beer was good too. We shared a flight -available in 4 or 8. We liked the 4 we tried. It s nice to have something brewed locally.

The beer was good, bartenders werent that great. I walked in when they weren't busy and both of them were playing with their phones--probably on facebook. I waited 5 minutes before they even realized I was standing there waiting to order.

Great beer and top notch customer service! I went here with a group of friends on a Friday night. It was crowded but I never waited long for beer. They only serve their own brews but that still makes for a good selection. The don't serve food but they have food trucks come and you can order stuff from elsewhere and eat it inside. Overall it was a great time at MoMac!

Went here for bingo night. Had some great beer and good food from the food truck. Bingo was great too! My only complaint was the guy calling out numbers used the "R word" to call out someone who mistakenly called bingo. Seriously dude? Its 2019 and you couldn't think of a better word to use? I have more than one intellectually impaired person in my family and was a little disappointed by that. Other than that, had a great first experience here. I'll be back... maybe not for an event in which he's got a microphone.

This place has a fantastic, open-air atmosphere. It's very spacious. They have a small play area for kids and always have games on hand for them. Some of the best beer around and the staff are extremely courteous and helpful. Highly recommended!

Great beer and the building is roomy, but kids running wild are a bad issue. Don't come in here early unless you like the romper room/Chuckie Cheese setting. I'll give it another try since I like the beer, but if brats are running wild again, I'm done!
