One of the best features of living in new haven is that you're just over an hour away from this great mountain!

It may not be as big as other mountains in Vermont, but it makes up for it with great snow and great service. Theres hardly ever long lines at this place, the runs are actually quite challenging in some parts of the mountain. Yes, they aren't miles long, but you get in run after run by snowboarding right back onto the lift, rather than waiting for 20 min in a lift line. This is great for families and casual snowboarders. Easily my favorite mountain.

We brought our son for his first ski trip to Mohawk and are ecstatic about this mountain now. It is located just over two hours from nyc which allowed us the quick turn around we needed but gave us the experience we were hoping for in order to introduce our little guy to the joys of a ski vacation. The area is bucolic and the mountain feels quaint and charming, like the New England experience we were looking for. The lodge felt like a lodge (not a school cafeteria) with Adirondack chairs and picnic tables on the deck overlooking well groomed trails. But it was the staff that elevated this experience. There were plenty of good natured workers that anticipated everything we needed. We were immediately greeted, told where to go, had our day package sorted easily and our equipment rentals in hand within minutes. One staffer (name Jim Shockley) made our son feel at ease and was right at our side offering solutions every time we had a question. It was a well oiled machine! Our son's first ski school had at least 10 enthusiastic instructors. Parking was easy. Chowder was good. No lines. What more can I say? There aren't that many runs so its the perfect mountain to learn to ski ...or to just have a fun day out that gives you a taste of a New England ski experience with the hassle.

As far as for Connecticut this is the best place to ski. They offer good beginner package and I loved their beginner area where are learned to ski this year. Comparable to other places where beginner area is too easy and than once you move to tral you feel not ready to it, so here it give enough challenge. Green trial is very good have 3 different ways and offer increasingly challenging ways to ski down. i moved from green are to blue within one day and feel pretty confident.

What a great experience! My kids are 8,6 and 3. All new to snowboarding and skiing. There was free hot cocoa for the kids while they were in the lesson because it was so cold out that day. Everyone we met from the rental staff to the instructors to the magic carpet and chair lift operators were terrific. It was an ideal first experience for my family. And only an hour from the Bridgeport ferry. Thinking about maybe a day trip some time this week because we had so much fun this weekend! When I do go back, I will bring my own food and drink. The cafeteria was really over priced. Hot chocolate was $4! I saw a lot of family with bag lunches. That's what I will be doing next time.

The people who work here are great, customer service is top notch. We do seasonal rentals from them every year because we know that if there are any problems with the equipment it will be taken care of quickly and with no hassle. My husband had a problem with his snowboard boots and they replaced them immediately.

This is definitely a smaller mountain, even the black diamonds aren't very difficult. The atmosphere is welcoming for beginners and experienced skiers alike. I highly reccomend this mountain, for the quality of the skiing and the quality of the services there.

Mohawk Mountain is truly a wonderful place to go with slopes for every level that I am aware of. Their carpet ride was awesome to introduce skiing to my 1.5 yr old. Their skii lessons were very effective to introduce skiiing to my 5 yr old...she immediately made it to the deer run confidently. Not crowded, facilities were clean, great service. Food, on the other hand, was low quality, and overpriced like in most other places. I will definitely go there again! It s a beautiful ride from Westhester County.

I am a 49 year old mom of 3 kids who recently became a stage 3 breast cancer survivor. I have not skied in 28 or so years. My experience was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful in easing some of my anxiety. At every point there were knowledgable staff to support. In fact an instructor, James came over and offered some suggestions while I was waiting for my lesson to start. My instructor, Bob was excellent. He had a great attitude and many years of experience. At no time did I feel unsafe as I knew Bob was their to ensure I was making safe choices. I am happy to report that I can ski! I also want to make a shout out to Jim Shockley the director. He greeted me as I was helped with the rental and on the way out asked about my experience. I told him it was GREAT!
I have no hesitation in recommending Mount Mohawk for novices or the experienced. I can't wait to come back!!!

I have been skiing Mohawk mountain for several yea...

I have been skiing Mohawk mountain for several years and I have always had a good experience, however today was different. My wife reserved rentals for our daughter as well as scheduled her for a snowhawks level 1 lesson. Getting the rentals and getting our daughter situated for her lesson was fine and was pretty well organized given the crowd. During her lesson I stopped by the lesson area to check on her and noticed she kept falling and one ski kept falling off also. After watching for a few more minutes I noticed, from a distance that the binding didn't look right with her boot clipped in. I slipped into the lesson area and asked an instructor if I could check her rental binding. It turned out that one binding wasn't adjusted properly and caused her to easily twist her boot out of the binding. Luckily I knew what I was doing and was able to make a quick adjustment. Unfortunately for her, her binding was like this for at least half the lesson and no one else inside the learning area noticed her binding issue. At the end of her lesson the instructor told my wife she likes to fall, when the problem was their lack to notice a problem with her binding that was causing her to fall. Later in the day my wife showed me a video of our daughter during her lesson where the instructors had her and the other kids sliding down the hill to practice their pizza or snowplough, however rather then catch the kids at the bottom the instructor held out a long pole that more or less close lined our daughter and the other kids. After watching the video I was appalled. I put our son through two seasons of snowhawks and never saw anything like this when he was learning the basics. His instructors were much more attentive and hands on with the kids and in no way did they ever set up a barrier to stop the kids that could hurt them.
I will say though that the conditions were good especially given the lack of snow this year and the staff was friendly. We will continue to ski at Mohawk but I will not be putting our daughter in another lesson there.

We absolutely love Mohawk Mountain! This mountain is the best you will find in Connecticut with regards to conditions and lifts. The workers are always amazing and friendly and we love building our snow castles when visiting this mountain! If we could leave more than 5 stars we would. Can't say enough about this local mountain. My family of six was up visiting family in CT for the weekend with our own rentals from Baltimore and had an issue with the boots we had brought from home...one boot size was off and did not fit the bindings for my son. Jim Shockley immediately stepped in and resolved the problem quickly and with incredible hospitality and had us back on the slopes in no time. Can't thank him enough. The slopes were great. Just a great time to be had by all! Thank you Jim for saving the day from disaster!!!!!
