I live in Wilmington, NC and had some difficulties working my local dealer. I found the car I wanted at Modern in Winston-Salem. What a breath of fresh air! There was a little of the to-be-expected haggling, but one that was done the service was excellent. They delivered my truck to my house 4 hours away. Great service!

My wife and I live in Wilmington, NC. It was a pleasure dealing with the sales staff at Modern over the phone. We selected a 2015 Highlander Limited. Modern ordered the interior/exterior color and discounted all other options we wanted. After sharing a few photos they provided a very fair trade-in value on our Toyota Matrix. They delivered our new vehicle to our driveway and after 15 minutes of signing paperwork the very pleasant deliver driver took back off for Winston. I'm a committed Modern purchaser for the future.

Parts person was incompetent. Took 10 min just to find my car on his screen. Then can't even find the manual transmission oil and obviously could not have cared less. Was more interested in talking on his phone about his chicken mcnuggets. FAIL. And they wonder why we hate dealerships.

Thanks to Daniel Perry and the Modern team, I am now driving a brand new 2016 Toyota Tacoma. I have been shopping for this truck at dealerships all over the Triad Region for over a month and constantly hit a brick wall, whether the right truck was not in stock or the dealership could not come to the price range I was shopping for. Well I made a visit to Modern Toyota, met Daniel Perry and was leaving in my new truck in 4 hours. Then the next day Modern sent a driver to my house to finish up on last minute paperwork. Daniel Perry, my sales consultant, was not pushy and was knowledgeable about offerings from Toyota and Modern Toyota. I would recommend Modern Toyota and my sales consultant, Daniel Perry to anyone in the market for a vehicle.

This is the second time we have been haggled and lied to. A few months ago, I had a nail in my tire. They said it was not repairable and I needed a new tire for about $300. I declined and took it to my neighborhood tire shop and they patched it perfectly for $12. Okay that s fine... didn t want to make a sink about it. I let it go. At our last oil change we had a new flat with another nail in it. We were told that it was not repairable and we would need a new tire for $300. Again we declined and took it to our neighborhood tire shop to get it repaired for $12. I ve always trusted modern Toyota with my car needs but now that trust is broken. I ll take my vehicle somewhere I won t be lied to just to turn a profit. I ve had multiple oil changes on all of my Toyota vehicles and so has other members of our family and we have bought our vehicles from modern as well but you have lost our business. Sketchy business practices!!!

When we drove up to the service booth the man who checked us in was so kind and accommodating. We had been having a bad day and everything up to that point was going against us. His compassion and patience went along way to improving our day not to mention the excellent work done on our vehicle. Shout out to the few that make a huge difference in this world. This is a long story and I did change my initial 1...

This is a long story and I did change my initial 1 star to a 3 star. So we buy a used 2015 Equinox there and get talked into purchasing oil service plan through them good for two years (supposedly!). So we go every time the sticker they put on tells us we need to according to mileage on vehicle. So the service we bought is for synthetic oil and it was supposed to be changed every 10k miles instead of the normal 5k miles which is the increments they were telling us to come back so apparently we ran out of oil changes before our time was up. So that you would think would make that being their fault. But wait, there's more. Come to find out the service manager looked up what oil was recommended for our Equinox and was told to use conventional oil unbeknownst to us. Did not even find this out till after the fact of us running out of oil changes through the service we bought for over $300. The reason we ran out of services is because the company we purchased the service through was under the impression we were getting synthetic oil changes so that's why they didn't allow us any more oil changes. Icing on the cake though is during one of the services the mechanic did not tighten the filter properly and it leaked oil all over the engine and I started smelling it so I pulled over and popped the hood and I see oil all over the place. So I called them and told them about it and I expect them to clean it. So this is MY time that I had to take it back for them to take care of something that was their fault but things only got worse. The chemical they used to clean it with damaged some of the plastic pieces under the hood. So yet again here is more of MY time to bring it back again for them to replace the pieces. Do you think they ordered all the right parts? NO! Yet again more of MY time to come back yet again for them to make it right. Is gas free somewhere because I was never given anything from them for my time or gas used to get back and forth the few times it took to get it right. I'm sure there are plenty of customers that's only had a pleasant experience with them but we are by far not one of them, wish we could be though. They did contact me after me leaving this review and offered us a fair deal I think to make things right. Still not happy with the way things were handled initially but at least now they are trying to make it right.

The service profesionals were knowledgeable and friendly. It was the best service experience that I have ever had at a dealership. My service writer Robert was great. Everyone was extremely friendly. My car was serviced quickly and the way I expected. I definitely will be coming back.

Great service, if you're buying a car ask for Nancy. If you're getting a rental car because you wrecked yours, ask for Mike Jones at the body shop. The guys that work on the cars at the body shop will fix your car up like brand new.

It was the most unpleasant visit I ever had in this so prestige dealer. The sale associate who attended me and my husband treated us with racism from the begging to the end of our visit today. He asked us for our nationally, then he asked if we have a valid driver licence because otherwise he wanted to save his valuable time and do not attend our questions and all the paper work. Who do this? Who would ask you where you come from or if you have DL in order to attend you??!
I'm not saying it's a bad dealership I'm saying is a shame that people like this guy can have a position to perform in this place where you have to do it right, regardless of you own opinion about immigrants or their legal status. That's not right. Later, I called the manager and he assured me that it won't happen again and he aggred that it was a very nonprofessional and unacceptable way to treat the costumers. I hope he was sincere about it.

The service is a joke. They assume all customers are gullible sheep that will be upsold. Coming in for a simple oil change and tire rotation, the service person instructed me that we need to walk around my vehicle to inspect it prior to them taking it back. What a joke. If their technicians damage vehicles so frequently that each vehicle warrants a customer and employee walk around, someone is doing a horrible job and hiring.

They aren t looking for damage. They re pointing out any and all minor imperfections in an attempt to make you think you need to spend more money with them getting whatever it is repaired or replaced.
Go to a smaller Toyota franchise dealer that values your business. Modern simply sees you as a potentially unlimited cash cow.

Second car in one year from Modern Toyota in Winston Salem.

Derek Mosier * Sales Manager and our sales man * Andrew Robinson were wonderful.

No high pressure sales, just a great deal on a new RAV 4 Hybrib for my wife.

We wanted a special color and trim, they found the car in Raleigh and had it at Modern in one day at a great price.

Happy Wife = Happy Life.

I've used Modern for my car servicing needs for over 3years. I've always had a great experience. However there were a few visits that didn't sit too well with me. And left me very upset. So I brought it to the attention of management. At my next service visit my concerns were addressed and very well handled.
I do advise you to know what your car needs and keep up with what is done in each visit
Also if you have a car care plan of some sort make sure you know this as well. Like some of these come with oil changes and tire rotations up to a certain point.
Some of the consultants will not tell you this.
Overall I feel that Modern Toyota does a good Job.

Everytime we visit Modern Toyota, the sales rep, Terri Roberts, is awesome! She knows the answer to ANY questions we ask and is very knowledgable not only regarding Toyotas but also any other brands on their used car lot. I would definitely send my friends and family to her at Modern Toyota!

As a student, looking for my first car was an overall great experience at Modern Toyota in Winston Salem. The people are very helpful. Our sales representative was a man by the name, Gopal. He seemed very obligated to help me find good deal on a car and I left Modern Toyota with a brand new Rav4. The managers were willing to cooperate with my family. Thanks Modern Toyota.

Great service. They let you know what are the issues with your car and let you actually think about what you want to do. Other places say I have other people you need to make a decision now. They greet you very politely as when your waiting. The staff is very attentive of you. I felt welcome and comfortable.

Winter made the whole spending money thing fun and I will only see her when I go there..Ask for Winter...She will make your visit the BEST I have to revise my review after my visit today I am totally disillusioned by the service department although Winter is still the best I was told the map upgrade was $300 And there was no way that tota could lower the price war compot even with a brand new 2017 Highlander so I went on Amazon and found the upgrade for a $169 after dealing with service manager who treated me very well he reluctantly sold me the upgrade at a much much lower cost a dealership makes most of their money via service of their vehicles and I am surprised that they are not more service oriented to the customer I was an avid 100 owner it seem that the service department flowed there they did not charge you for all lot of things that Toyota wanted to had a nail in my tire I had to show them that I bought the tires there for them to say OK we'll fix it at Honda no matter where I bought the tire it would a been done so I think they really need to work on the pricing structure and become more service oriented towards the customer at tota versus did dealership I am disappointed with the cost and the trouble I had to go through on today's visit again treated very well by the service manager it took a long time I had a call the a tie O dished our dealership in Miami to make sure the part was exactly the same and then we went through a whole bunch of rigamarole on the computer it was an A-OK this is another toilet a dealership final match it it was let me search Levy research a whole lot of yada yada where it should have been instantly OK let's go so that's my complaint it should be more let's look at the customer 1st

Very satisfied!! Clean facility, very friendly staff. Second car I ever purchased was from Modern Toyota over 30 years ago. After trying others, I came back in June 2018 and it was the BEST decision I ever made!

Though Modern Toyota is going thru some renovations, it didn't take away from the wonderful service I am accustomed to receiving from them. I was greeted promptly and pleasantly, and directed to the temporary waiting area, where there were the usual complementary refreshments. I was given an approximate waiting time, and was pleasantly surprised when they called out my name earlier than the time given that my vehicle was ready. This is my second Toyota, and won't be my last. Thanks Modern for making my experience a pleasant one.

Overall the experience was great. However there is still a problem that the service department didn't fix. On the driver side door, when the window is down, there is a very musty smell. I don't understand why they didn't smell it when we can still smell it. It's very strong.

We had traveled all the way from Moncks Corner SC over 4 hours away to find our son his first car. We could not find a better deal that was closer to us in the Charleston area while searching the internet. While I communicated through text and email with my Salesman Mr. Gopal Chandarana everything he said was completely accurate when we arrived. He was very professional and courteous. The car which was a 2012 Dodge Challenger was totally awesome and is going to be such a big surprise for our son on Christmas morning. As Mr. Gopal took us thru the process of test drive and paperwork it was very fast and before we knew it we were in the finance office with Mr. Brad Mcadams. That couldn't have went better and with a full tank of gas compliments of Modern Toyota we were on our way back home with one very nice Christmas present.

Worst place to buy a car and such a hassle! Walked in nobody at the desk everybody just walked by us never asked if we needed help finally someone asked and I replied I thought you guys were closed worst customer service! I tried the Costco car buying thing worst idea it's not Costco it's this dealership. Costco reps here are disorganized and not trained! Walked out to never return worst experience ever! Needless to say I walked out because the lack of knowledge and customer service was not there and would not work with me and went to another dealership that was wonderful and bought a car!

I bought a 2012 RAV4 at Modern on 6-8-2013. They had a wonderful selection and the salesperson, Alex Rhoades, was great. He greeted us minutes after we arrived, was extremely knowledgeable about the cars, and made this a pleasurable experience. I would recommend this dealership and Alex Rhoades to anyone looking for a car.

I have had a lot of dealings with car dealerships since I lease every 2-3 years. I have dealt with most major dealerships in the triad and I must say this was the easiest transaction I have had.
The staff was very friendly and my sales guy Matt McDonald was very informative and helpful in every way. He listened to all my needs (with can be a lot) and I never once felt pressured. The facility was very clean with complementary beverages.
Once time came to sign the papers Yates Moon helped me understand the whole transaction and answered every question I had.. I have always felt this is where you just "sign here" and "sigh there" was done but not this time. I will definitely visit Modern again when I am due for a new car.

I just bought my first new car from Modern Toyota. The salesman Gopal Chandrana was great. He was upfront and helpful. The selection of cars was great. Gopal took the time to answer all my questions and I never felt pressure. I would recommend anyone to go there to buy a car. I am a happy customer.

Bought my car out of town but signed up for Toyota care program when i bought my car. I came to Modern Toyota which is near where I live and the service department helped and got everything setup for my car. They have been excellent including calling me for reminder service appt. Usually I'm in and out in pretty quick. They are very professional and helpful. Very pleased with them so far!

The purchasing experience was great! They did a great deal, beat everyone around and I was very happy with my purchase. If this review was only for that, I would give 5 stars.

The service department is never a good experience. I paid for the first 5 services early so I've been using those up. With that being said, once this last service is completed (today), I will never bring my vehicle back here. Every time they say roughly an hour (45 min to an hour) to do the oil change and top off the fluids. It takes sometimes over 2 hours. Today it was, I'll get it on back there and it shouldn't take longer than an hour... Well 20 minutes ago, after waiting for 1 hour and 10 minutes, a guy said it shouldn't be too long because it's in the air and he's just finishing with draining the old oil... Seriously? If I was a walk-in, I understand. However, all of these have been by appointment. What a joke and waste of time. Because of this, unfortunately this is the last time I will do business with Modern Toyota in Winston. I'll find someone else to buy from and service my vehicle. I guess I tired of being lied to and this was a lesson learned.

If you plan to NEVER use their service department, you would be pleased with the buying experience and be fine. The rating is 2 stars when you combine the experience.

It's been a great experience getting our new car serviced at Modern Toyota. The service reps are so friendly. We get in and out quickly and consider this the best car service experience we have ever had.
