The place looks nice and the outdoor fire is fantastic. But the food wasn't up to par. Think of it as TGI Friday's really trying to be fancy. The wait staff was a miss, wouldn't stop hovering the whole dinner but couldn't be found when it was time for dessert or pay.

Great location on the water which is reflected in the prices. Upscale American fusion cuisine at upscale prices. Would have loved to like my pumpkin puree soup with pistachios, but it had too much salt. The Mediterranean appetizer sampler was very good, though it's hard to maintain upscale eating habits with unpitted olives. The Thai beef salad was lacking pizzazz.
Apparently we had overstaid our welcome, because at 3, tables were moved around so noisily that any conversation was impossible. We were not the last lunch customers. They were still bringing out food to other guests as we were leaving.

Nice upper-end restaurant with good food and atmosphere. Very popular with local business and is always busy at lunchtimes.

You can have a beautiful stroll along the waterfront though either before or after your meal.

Definitely the nicest restaurant in redwood shores! They offer a solid menu accompanied by a pleasant atmosphere. The Cocktails are solid and the wine list has a variety that pairs well with their offerings

It's a staple of Redwood Shores. If you've not been you either don't work in RWS or San Mateo because if you do, you've for sure been to Mistral. I've never had a bad meal here. I've never had bad service either. It's cozy and has a nice view over some water. Sit inside or outside, you cannot go wrong.

I was visiting from Denver and heard from my cousin, who heard the ALICE radio that the restaurant was good. Making a reservation was easy and the lady answering the phone was very nice and polite. We were seated promptly when we arrived at a table overlooking the water - very nice. Tasty flat bread was delivered immediately to our table when we were seated and our waiter came over promptly.

THE FOOD:
The presentation was very nice and the food was good but not great... and definitely not worth the price paid. I had the Ribeye steak, 16 oz (looked lighter than that) for $33.00. My guess is that it was not a Prime cut, perhaps Choice and was definitely overdone for medium rare. Like I said, the flavor was good, but the meat was much tougher than it should have been. My sister only ate half of what she ordered, but I will let he write her own review.

We held a corporate event in Mistral's private dining room yesterday. Gin and his team were very accommodating, friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere and perfect for what we needed. The food was also amazing, including some delicious mozzarella stuffed mushroom caps.
