You can spend the whole day here. They have a wide variety of animals that look well cared for and neatly maintained spaces. There is usually a closeup space like the kangaroo crossing or the llamas so it makes it a fun experience. The farm animals were also very fun.

The MN zoo has a wide variety of animals and habitats ranging from grey wolves to tapirs to harp seals to chickens. There is a freshwater and a saltwater aquatic area, tropical birds, and penguins, and of course, (mountain) lions, tigers, and bears (oh my). With a membership you can come as often as you want, and there are enough things both indoor and out that it's a good place to make a day with the kids no matter what the weather is doing outside.

Above average zoo. You got to go there. It's actually more than a zoo. Wonderful long trails among dense woods. Very relaxing, fresh air and perfect walk exercise among trees and trails that will give you energy. Lots of protected and we'll cared animals to see.

I've always enjoyed the Minnesota Zoo. They have recently completed renovations to the entry. Sadly, it is more of a bottle-neck now than before. The design is bad and in an obvious way. Whoever planned it should be fired. Another poorly planned item is the 'find the missing radio collar' in the tiger exhibit. It beeps and beeps and beeps and is an extremely aggravating and annoying distraction. On a positive note, the staff is friendly and the facility is clean.

We really enjoy coming to the zoo about one or twice a month. The benefits of vying a membership are definitely worth it. It pays for itself on the second visit. We've been members for going on 5 years now, and they just keep making it more worth the price.

I was so impressed by this zoo! All the exhibits are brilliantly laid out so the animals are where we can see them. Many were right by the glass. There were fun kids' activities and play areas. The Minnesota trail was interesting, and we got to see all the local wildlife that eludes us in the wild. The layout of the park by world geographical areas was a great learning experience too. The zoo had a few animals we hadn't seen anywhere else! It was a great day!

Had a blast walking around the Minnesota State Zoo! Spend the whole day there taking pictures of all the creatures. It's very clean and big. Also it's not overpriced like some of the other ones I have been to. Can't wait to go back this summer.

Great zoo! Actually two zoos in the Twin Cities area; one at Como and the other in Apple Valley.

Visited the Apple Valley site and had a wonderful time. Great walking paths with plenty of shade and benches between exhibits. Good signage let's you know where you are and where to go. Lots of activities and shows throughout the day and evenings too. Reasonable fees and friendly, knowledgeable staff makes for a wonderful outing.

I went to the zoo but it was for a wedding I guess it's some new thing Millennials are doing but whatever it was interesting and fun I enjoyed it overall it was done really well maybe turn the lights on outside of the reception area when people are leaving though and have better add signage where to park when arriving for a wedding.

What a fabulous place for a family on a cold, Sunday afternoon. We loved the penguin feeding at 10am and the tropical walk. Word to the wise... the tropics is a great area but the exhibit is very long with no bathroom for littles along the way.

Adult night is a blast! Just walk around with a beer and my girl and look at the animals. That sounds pretty hillbilly-esque but it really is fun! It's also nice that there's a much lighter crowd and no kids. If you're there on a nice night it is amazing!

This is one of the nicest zoos I have ever been to. It's always clean and the animal enclusures look natural. The selection of animals is pretty diverse as well. One of our favorite stops in Minnesota.

Alot of the animals that you would normally expect to see at the zoo they didnt have. Overall my 6 year old had a good time though. Food court offerings were pretty good as well and reasonably priced surprisingly.

This zoo is a very fun place to walk around and just enjoy the animals bit there is to much unused space where there could be animals and some of the habitats are very small for the animals such as the bald eagle habitat which is way too small for a bird of it's size. And also a lot of the birds habitats in general shouldn't be closed they should be able to roam around the tropics trail but it's for safety which I can understand. And also If you are going there for the kangaroo crossing DONT WASTE THE MONEY JUST FOR IT because most of the kangaroos are either laying down or way back by the fence where you can barley see them. But enough ranting about the zoo let's talk about the good. It's a well kept up zoo and there are a lot of thing for the young kids and the adults to do as well so its not just limited for just the kids. Also you cannot miss the bird show it is amazing it is vey cool but Im not going to spoil what goes on in the show. And to wrap my review up overall It is a fun zoo to spend a day at with your family.

I hadn't been to this zoo in years, but they've really updated the place. The kangaroo area and butterfly garden were pretty cool. The bear and the cheetah were close to the glass this time, and the aquarium was fun to watch little kids try and touch fish. Entrance fees are pricey but you can always bring your own food and water with you.

Secret...shhhh...cooler days mean more animal activity! Always enjoy the experience and that is why I am a member. Yesterday with grandbaby and my love was another great day. The tiger was roaring, the pumas were playing, and the otters swimming. Bears not so active but sleeping comfortably together in their veiwing den which is very visible to guests. Tropics were hopping and birds were chirping. Highly recommend!
