I came to try the August special, Green Chicken Mole Dumplings. And they were amazing! Very tasty and the flavors were so vibrant. I was left in awe!

Delicious, always hip variations of in house made dumplings. Hot are the best.
This place is very cool. The food is local and fresh and healthy and simple. The menu is minimal in the best way: 3-4 kinds of dumplings, one of which is seasonal, and a vegetable. I got the chicken and pork dumplings, they were good. I also got the broccoli sauteed with garlic, also good. It's not the cheapest lunch, but it's not bad. I paid $15 for the 8 dumplings a nice portion of broccoli.
My only issue, and the reason I can't give them 5 stars, is that dumplings to me are cheap, fried in some kind of re-used oil, and contain not-so quality meat with a lot of salt and chives. They're delicious. These dumplings lack the grease and salty flavor I crave when I crave dumplings. They're good, but I don't think I would order plate after plate here like I would at Vanessa's Dumplings up the street.
If you'd like to pay $8 for 6 frozen dumplings from the supermarket, this place is for you!
It was wonderful, definitely a place I will visit each time I travel to see family!
Dumplings are good, but way over priced. 6 for usd 8+ ? You can get 5 for less than 2 in china town.
Awesome. Fresh and tasty. Loved the Thanksgiving dumplings
Deliciousness
Must try & Dan Dan noodles
The dumplings are okay, but prosperity and Vanessa's are both better and far cheaper.
The novelty monthly dumplings are interesting, but overall it's just too pricy for a dumpling spot.
I came here due to the high reviews everyone was giving this place. Instead i was rewarded with cold soggy dumplings with no flavor.
If you are looking for a great dumplings place in East Village, this one is one of the best options!
Super fresh & delicious dumplings with an awesome house-made sauce!
OMG hand-rolled dumplings to order. So fresh and made with the best elements. Spicy garlic chili sauce mixed with there secret sauce is perfection. I will never eat another dumpling anywhere else!
Very nice place but horrible dumplings. Do not taste good and very overpriced
Quality dumplings, the pan fried tastes better than boiled. The Dan Dan noodles are very very spicy.
Such a great location and amazing dumplings! Felt like I was in grandma's house because there was an older Asian lady sitting behind the glass counter making FRESH DUMPLINGS! I thought that was great. It gave a more authentic feel to the place.
Delicious Dumplings. It is a bit pricey but definitely a must try. Their house-made sauce is amazing!!!
Great dumplings. Will absolutely fulfill your cravings if you're looking for some dumplings - however I will say that Tianjin Dumpling House does it better. (And cheaper)
I try to go here monthly for their special dumplings. Just an awesome gourmet dumpling which means more expensive than my top place Vanessa's dumplings but still awesome.
Awful place. Not worth the hype or the wait (an hour and 40 mins) for 16 dumplings. On top of that they messed up my order. Out of the 16 dumplings, only half was edible, which was the monthly special. Would not recommend if my life depended on it.
They had closed a half hour early. Was super bummed.
The restraunt has a good atmosphere, but the food is just par. The dan noodles are too sweet (might use wheat noodles?) and dumplings are a bit over priced.
Upscale dumpling shop, with some typical and not-so-typical fillings (Thanksgiving dumplings filled with turkey and stuffing, with a side of homemade cranberry sauce pictured). Service is exceptionally slow
I live in Connecticut and talk about Mimi Chengs to everyone. I so appreciate the organic factor and cleanliness of this place, as well as the pristine presentation and the dumplings were insanely delicious, flavorful and fresh. I cannot rave enough about this wonderful restaurant!
So So good. One serving of pan seared dumplings is just not enough. And that secret sauce? I can literally drink it.
good vegetarian dumplings. a bit overpriced for only 6 and the seating area is quite small, but it s worth checking out.
The first dumpling shop I've found that has absolutely no negatives. No unidentifiable ingredients, mystery meat, grease bomb -- nothing. Short menu means everything is terrific: three savory dumplings (veggie, chicken, pork), veggie of the day, dessert dumpling, homemade drink. Veggie dumpling is stuffed with really finely-diced kale and is delicious. Chicken dumpling is juicy and great, especially with addictive dipping sauce. But the pork dumpling: ahhhh. The menu says sustainable and organic, but your brain will be saying BACON. Surf-shop vibe means a great destination for lunch or dinner.
Amazing dumplings at a good price. They have a special dumping that is constantly changing. You can order either 6 or 10 with each order steamed or fried.
Convenient and cool spot for a quick bite. Tasty dumplings. The pancake is also very yummy!
I had the signature dumplings, juicy and hot! The spicy dan dan noodle is way too spicy, can t taste any other flavour such as sesame oil and peanut sauce. The 12 hour organic chicken soup is a bit disappointing, doesn t taste chicken soup really...tastes more like carrots and corn soup.
Dumplings are most delicious although I wish they had one in NJ
Dark skin girl yesterday was very rude and unprofessional.
excellent dumplings.very tasty..decent service.pleasant atmosphere
Food is good when eating in restaurant. DO NOT BOTHER ordering online. 2 hours waiting then cancelled order.
Brilliant little dumpling shop. Definitely check it out!!
Just raised their prices. 8 dumplings are 13.15. Kind of crazy given that theirs are nothing special...
Was excited to go here after seeing and hearing good reviews. Although the dumplings were good, I don't believe they are worth the hype, especially for the price. Don't bother ordering the soup as it is quite bland.
A spur of the moment decision that turned out to be a highlight of our most recent vacation in NYC. If you're in the East Village craving dumplings like I was, no place does it better. This tiny restaurant has a focused menu - dumplings plus a few sides, including multiple veggie options, plus homemade 'secret sauce'. Limited seating, and the place was packed the whole time. Grab a window seat and watch the passersby, or if you don't mind sharing your elbow room, snuggle up at the communal table.
Super good dumplings - came all the way from Norway to have a taste, loved it
Very disappointing chicken noodle soup, without any flavor and under seasoned. Dumplings were a let down for the price. Not going back.
Perfect place for a lonely traveler and amazing flavors
I had the Super V veggie dumplings with carrots, cabbage and mushrooms. I had them fried, and the flavor and texture was wonderful. Their "secret sauce" was good too (probably hot oil and soy sauce and possibly vinegar).
Okay white people dumplings at a ridiculously high price.
The dumplings were way over priced and were decent but not for that price. They didn't even have hot oil for some dumpling lovers.
A simple idea, done very well. Best to eat at the counter, when the food comes out fresh.
Still the best. Nothing comes even close to the quality and flavor of Mimi.
A bit on the expensive side but tasty. No restrooms.
When I crave dumplings I crave Mimi chengs. The drunken noodles are a must.
Solid dumplings in a nice clean minimalist setting. Has some strange fusions but I prefer the original flavors
Great dumpling shop. The dumplings are higher quality and made with better ingredients than your standard Chinatown shop. Their dipping sauce is top notch too.
Dumplings were very good. A bit pricey but what can you do it's Manhattan. Definitely a must try in the warmer months
Short: Great Asian inspired fast food restaurant to grab a quick bite or snack. Delicious traditional dumpling, with "special sauce" which is a must try.
Long: As you first walk in, the shop seems to be very small with limited seating to get friendly with others. There are seats aligning the wall of the restaurant and picnic style benches in the middle of the room. The menu is simple and easy to understand with descriptions of the different style of dumplings and side dishes to try.
I ordered the Taiwanese street car veggies, Mimi Cheng, and reinvented classic dumplings. The veggies were delicious with the oyster sauce and garlic, however it was a little much for my liking on the oyster sauce. Both the Mimi Cheng and re-invented classic dumplings were phenomenal. It had a very authentic meaty taste upon the first bite. I got both dumplings pan-fried which I would definitely recommend to get that nice crunch. The wrapping was not thick and doughy but in fact very light. The Mimi Cheng Special Sauce is an absolute must try. Don't be fooled and drizzle that sauce all over your pan-fried dumplings because you will end up with a soggy snack before you can eat them all.
Overall this place was a great pit stop to grab a bite to eat and the service was great. I gave this place 4 stars for the great authentic taste but unfortunately wish they had way more on their menu. Can't wait to go back to have the Mimi Cheng Sauce again.
Great moderately-priced spot for a quick bite of delicious dumplings. The scallion pancakes with egg are awesome!
The dumplings were well made, and the atmosphere was cheery and bright. Flavor was good. Overall a great place to take people, but would rather go to china town if it was just me.
From the outside it looks like a general cafe, but inside you have a retro and contemporary aesthetic. Trying the monthly special mac n cheese was a good choice and worth it for first timers.
The dumplings were good but the best thing was the smores dessert dumpling.
Good food. Thourghlu enjoyable. I got the chicken parm duplings witch are only avable to end of month. (august_2018) i realy liked them
Absolutely the tastiest dumplings around. I LOVE Mimi's. The quality of their meats + veggies is superb! I also just love all the friendly workers + the cozy feeling of this place. Marian and Hannah are also the BEST owners. I love these ladies and they truly encompass what it means to be passionate. Please check out Mimi's, you won't be disappointed!!
Very friendly staff and excellent dumplings. You have a choice of either pan fried or steamed when you order. But wait, there's more. You could even order half of each style! You can see how labor intensive making the dumplings are because you see the pair of hands repetitiously working on them. It just makes each bite more special!
Best dumplings in NYC! And the service is on point.
Look I know thousands of factors go into.... I really don't want to be a crazy person after this... so I'll just ask.
Has anyone had an amazing night of "shaking the sheets" after dining here?
Delicious and juicy pork dumplings with bok choy and cabbage! We also had the noodle soup and spicy dan dan noodles. Will be back for more!
Wonderful dumplings made where you can watch out of good organic ingredients. The sauce is fabulous.
Dumplings are always delicious. Restaurant is always clean. Staff are friendly.
While the dumplings were generally tasty, I found the price to be quite high. I also noticed that the greens weren't washed very well. I could see the dirt best the stems.
Good place for to-go dumplings. High quality and delicious.
Sitting here... STILL waiting for the food. Flavor is bland because Im never going to get to try it -_-
Edit: well I got my order just as my friend had finished. Shame.
We had our dumplings to go with 2 spring rolls. Service was quick and simple.
Excellence. Cheap but a decent area to sit in. So crispy.
The dumplings were okay. But it's honestly overpriced for what it is.
Delicious. The sauce is addicting. Everything is hand made right in front of you. Pan fried is best.
The place is very cute and clean, and the girl taking orders is the friendliest person ever. We tasted the chicken and veggie dumplings and they were both amazing!
Honestly, I had higher expectations
Don't get me wrong, their dumplings are really good
So is the secret sauce
But it's just too pricey
You can get the same for like half
The staff was not in a good mood, at least the time I went
Is a very tiny establishment
Still, if you wanna try them, just one advice
8 is enough
Maybe 12
But I thought 14 were a good number and nope, too much food
Really great dumplings. Good variety, but not overwhelming number of choices. Seating is a bit limited. Space is nice.
Delicious chicken and zucchini pan fried dumplings and breezy cute little place!
Cute little place in the East Village, we were looking for a quick and tasty lunch and read about this. We got the 50-50 dumplings and a noodle soup. The soup was not really flavorful but at least the noodles were cooked nicely. The dumplings were pretty tasty and I really liked their special homemade sauce. Overall, I would say that this is the low-end Chinese food designed to appeal to yuppies. Price is too high for what it actually is. Nice room though.
Original sauce is incredible, loved half+half offer where you can try to kinds of dumplings
Absolutely delicious dumplings, and the secret sauce is out of this world
Amazing and delicious. A bit pricey but worth it to treat yourself when you can :)
Over-hyped for sure. For the price, I expected the dumplings to be at least intact. The reinvented classic was interestingly shaped but every single dumpling was falling apart before we started eating. Quite disappointing.
Great place. I get the vegetarian dumplings and do 50/50 (love the ability to do that) and the noodles. Don t forget to try the Mimi sauce!
Only negative is it takes way too long to get. Usually from 14-30 min.
Great job on the basic dumplings and love the their special dumplings that are always so interesting.
