This place used to have great home made dumplings ...
This place used to have great home made dumplings with fresh ingredients. Not anymore. Just pricy now, and way disappointing since Mimi and her mom moved on.

The service here has always been terrible, but lately it s been truly unbearable. Tonight I spent a full hour at Mini Cheng s I ordered two different kinds of dumplings and waited a full thirty minutes to receive the first half of my order, proceeded to eat them and wait for the other half of my order to come out. After 15 mins, I reminded the woman at the counter that I was still waiting on the other half of my order, but they had forgotten about it, so she put the order in again. About 5 minutes later, I received the dumplings but they were steamed instead of pan fried as I had ordered. Oh well, I ate them anyway and left as quickly as I could.
The woman sitting next to me had ordered the Dan Dan noodles, but later regretted her order because she thought they would be too spicy for her. The woman at the counter wasn t able to refund her her order or offer her something else on the menu (even something of a lower price), her rationale being that she doesn t have the authorization from the manager to make any of those kinds of changes. Womp womp womp
This place is yummy and cheap. Get the scallion pancake
Love to have authentic Taiwanese street dumplings here in NYC! Quality food and welcoming ambiance bring me home. Just be aware there's no phone number or reservation - also not good for groups.
Really good dumpling place with friendly staff. It's not huge so I wouldn't take a big group of people (I'd do takeaway) but it's worth a visit. The vegetarian dumplings together with their own secret sauce are a very good choice.
My favorite place to check out every month. The signature dumplings are always tried and true amazing. Generous, high-quality fillings in perfectly proportional dumpling. Nice filling to dough ratio. Every month, there is a special dumpling, and they're special indeed! Some past favorites: Pat LaFrieda Dumpling, Thanksgiving Dumpling, Nomad Chicken Pot Pie Dumpling. This month (Sept 2017): Chef Missy Robbins of Lilia Dumpling. Come with an appetite for best results, but no matter the time of day, you'll always have room for Mimi Cheng's.
So delicious..I got a Mexican-inspired seasonal flavor which was good, but nothing beats the more traditional types such as the pork. There is some limited outdoor seating now.
My favorite dumpling spot in the city. Clean ingredients and super creative collaborations every few months! They have more than just dumplings also! Their special sauce is fire also!!
Best dumplings I ever ate! They were very tasty and so fresh! Yes it is pricey compared to other places but you pay for the too notch quality. Definitely worth a try if you are around. Very nice people too!
Very good dumplings. They have a person in sight doing them one by one manually.
The Super V dumplings are the best veggie dumplings I have ever had.
The rest of the dumplings I tried were just mediocre (the classic and the chicken).
The Taiwanese beef soup was missing some flavours (acid or spice?), it had a great mouthfeel but didn t taste like much besides salt.
Both the original and pork dumplings are super delicious. You get 6 for 9.50 or 8 for 11.50, so better value if you're more hungry. Definitely recommend NY apple cider Arnold Palmer. Be aware seating is very limited. It was full when we came in on a Saturday but a table opened up quickly.
Tried the steamed reinvented classic + mighty veggie dumplings, and a side of taiwanese street cart greens. The dumpling filling was very fresh and had good flavor combinations. I liked that you could watch the dumplings being made. Very clean restaurant and very nice staff (there was an error with my order and I was overcharged and they noticed before I did and changed it for me). Would return if in the area.
Soooo wasting money...I can make better...i order dan dan noodle and I can not eat so I order noodle soup also I can't eat...
This place was so much more awesome than I expected. Soy Sause is a bit salty though... Maybe that's just the way it's supposed to be. Dumplings are really affordable.
Good spot for dumpling in the east village. Have unique signature dumplings that come and go as well. Very friendly. Quick. Clean. Recommend.
Food is overpriced. 8 dumplings for $13 + tax. Ordered the re-invented classic, but weren't wrapped properly. The taste was okay, not bad.
Super. Excellent focus on doing one thing really well - great service, great speed and good to get in early before crowds. Aces
Does not care about customer service. A line was forming and nobody bothered to man the register. 5 employees just washing dishes and making dumplings. I caught someones eye and they just looked disinterested in helping and went back to doing their thing. Gave off the impression they were too good to rush to take orders. Definitely lost my business and interest.
Amazing dumplings! One vegan dumpling. I recommend going
Dan Dan noodles: 3/5
Street cart greens: 3/5
Mimi Cheng dumpling: 4/5
Reinvented classic dumpling: 4/5
The appetizers and sides were relatively unimpressive but the dumplings were great! Nice flavor, excellent crispy texture balanced with a firm noodle- I wasn't convinced it was the "best dumpling" in NYC- but it's a winner.
A lot of expectation for the food obtained. It is reputed to be a healthy Chinese food site, using organic ingredients and a low sodium menu, and I give them credit for that. Unfortunately for me healthy food should not be synonymous with insipid and that was my experience. I ordered dumplings that are supposed to be his cover letter but I really have eaten better in Chinatown. However, the most disappointing was the 12-hour organic chicken broth, a dish in which the chicken was supposed to be cooking in the broth for 12 hours to give all its substance ... but in reality it was like water because I did not know to almost nothing and sauce had to be added to give it some flavor as well as the chicken meatballs that were in the broth. I insist ... healthy food should not be synonymous with tasteless!
The dumplings here were pretty good, but not quiet as good as authentic Chinese places. They had also run out of many of the options of dumplings when I had arrived, which was not that late either.
Overhyped in my opinion. They do have good dumplings, but the price is a little ridiculous. Can get same quality in Chinatown for much cheaper.
Cute place. I don t recommend the dan dan noodle but the dumplings was good.
Pros: takes credit and debit.
Cons:
- You'll need at least 40 minutes for the food. So this is not a quick lunch spot if you have 30 minutes (this was for takeout).
- pricier than the nearby dumpling places with the same comparable taste and greasiness (not accounting for the ingredient quality differences)
I would not return solely because I don't want to wait so long for something that only takes at most 10 minutes to eat. Just easier to have cash on hand and get it quickly somewhere else.
The worst place. The meat was terrible I had intoxication by food, fever...i felt very bad after dinner. I m still sick. I think was the pork meat.
Poor presentation, poor customer service, poor dumplings. Don't go!
DELICIOUS dumplings! We tried the veggie dumplings, pork dumplings, and the scallion pancakes. They have a "secret sauce" on the tables that is delicious as well. The place is tiny though, so get takeout or expect to wait for a seat.
The service can be disorganized and slow at times. It took 30 minutes for my dumplings to be served the last time I went.
The dan-dan noodles are okay at best. It's interesting that they use soba noodles. I think it works, but definitely different than your usual dan-dan noodles.
The dumplings were good, not great. Overpriced compared to Vanessa's nearby. Mimi Cheng's dumpling skins are thinner than average Chinese dumplings.
Overall, a place worth visiting once or twice. Would not become a regular here.
Amazing dumplings. It is literally a hole in the wall/ very basic in terms of layout but Food and service is amazing
They are changing the dumpling game for sure! Such a cute little spot with the most delicious dumplings and they've expanded the menu to include some small plates. Perfect to share with someone and I definitely recommend their in house made teas and drinks!
Perhaps my hopes were too high. Service was great, loved the cute, small space and outdoor seating too, but dun dun noodles were flavorless (and noodles a little overdone) and chicken parmesan dumplings underwhelming esp. vs expectations. Big credit for the idea though - and, with work, they could be incredible!
Nice ambience, cute little place.
Service was friendly!
However, most importantly food was quite average.
We got chicken and vegan dumplings, did 50/50 with them and got them fried.
Chicken was ok, veg wasn t bad.
They have some special sauce which was good and made dumplings eatable.
Dumplings themselves could have been much more flavourful!
Not a lot of options to choose from.
We ve had way better dumplings in NYC.
Got their house made iced raspberry tea, which was mediocre.
Prices were fair though.
Would not come all the way for their dumplings!
I had got the Mimi Cheng's Dumplings and it was... okay to say the least. I think TGI Fridays has better potstickers
Delicious dumplings with quality ingredients. The secret sauce is fantastic and has a real kick to it.
Yummy...and don't share the scallion pancake, you'll want your own
Brilliant dumplings which are well cooked. We had Mimi Cheng (boiled) and Original (Pan fried) both were delicious and the only downside is that we didn't have more! Excellent value for money.
People that had ordered the same thing after me received the order first. Really disrespectful for customers that just want take-out. Seems they prioritize people in the restaurant first and not orders. Waited 30 minutes to get 6 pieces of dumplings... expected to wait 10 min for the order. Terrible experience... Staff seems to not care. If there are people, you will not get your dumplings fast, end of story.
Fresh, tasty dumplings, and a few sides. Small menu, so good idea to check that there's enough for everyone given dietary restrictions, but what there is seemed good.
The Mimi sauce is amazing. Had the chicken and pork dumplings . They are good and have really good flavor to them . Now is it nyc best? You decide, but the price is little high compared to other dumplings spots around nyc
Delicious dumplings, get the dumpling of the month!
The dumplings are very good and the sauce is INCREDIBLE!!! Literally would just drink it straight. It s a bit expensive ($11.50 for 8 dumplings) but as I said, quite good.
A beautiful, vibrant spring evening in the E. Village, but the worst idea for a casual post-movie snack/supper ever. Considering there are only a few items on the menu, you would think it would be a relatively simple thing to serve an okay dumpling. Ordered: Combo Mimi Cheng & Reinvented Classic Dumplings - Fried, as recommended by Infatuation. This was the worst plate of dumplings I have ever had. I've had far better dumplings from Trader Joe's frozen aisle. While the fillings seemed okay, the dumplings were served burnt, and were oddly gummy underneath -- very unappetizing and not nearly as cheap as they should have been. Their house "special sauce" was bland and the least special dumpling sauce I've ever had. Critics please update your reviews! All should avoid this waste of space. If you can't make it to Chinatown or 32nd Street, you're better off keeping Trader Joe's dumplings in your freezer in a pinch.
Kind of felt scammed. Taste/quality was decent but $14 for 8 is way overpriced. You can find better options in the area for 1/3 the price.
Dumplings are okay - very non-authentic. The thing that gets me is they are very overpriced for something you can get for a lot cheaper in Chinatown or flushing that tastes at least as good if not better.
Solid tasting dumplings but priced extremely high for what it is. You can get the same thing in Chinatown for 1/3 of the price.
Everything on the menu is great but famous for the handmade dumplings. The special sauce is amazing and worthy of the trip to try it.
Outstanding. Tried the pork and the chicken, both were amazing.
Best dumplings I've ever had, hands down. The staff was more than gracious and the ambiance was top notch.
The food was good, I just don't like places you support, and they don't allow you to use their bathroom. Bad business.
Love love love their dumplings! Definitely not a good place to go if you have too many food allergies (common ones like soy will obviously be tricky here), but I've had great experiences every time I've come here! Their specials are super interesting (for example the Korean Fried Chicken which was the April special was so unique and the fried rice puffs that came with it were amazing!!!!), but if you're into more classic stuff, I'd go with the fried reinvented classic. The scallion pancakes are also amazing and their special sauce is fantastic! The dan dan noodles are pretty spicy, so be prepared but they're great!
No cash accepted!
Delicious dumplings with great seasonal dumplings as well! They don't mess around when they call food "spicy," so don't say you weren't warned!
Decent dumpling spot. Dumplings where a little bland and the different versions tasted a bit too similar. A bit slow cooking of them compared to amount of guests.
Great dumplings, very fresh and flavorful. The Kale Fried Rice is a must-try.
So excited to try this place, but was very disappointed that it is more hyped than impressive, after all what else can you really do with dumplings. Very expensive for what it is and not worth to go out of your way. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing impressive or great about it. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Place is minimalist and clean.
My kid loves this place. Their sauce is super delicious and it's a fun little place.
I just came from that restaurant and it was great. They have a vegan monthly special. They collaborate with another restaurant to make their food (the By Chloe guac-burger this march) into a dumpling !! So goood !
Organic ingredients to make dumplings very delicious!I also come next time.
second worst dumblings ive ever ate, dan dan noodles are a nogo, the dishes are not made to perfection and it seems like not from a trained chef! The sauce smelled and tasted like 3 days old
This place is phenomenal. They have amazing dumplings. Most everything is organic or quality ingredients and they have amazing vegetarian dumplings as well!
Mimi Cheng s, a fairly new dumpling house is one of the few dumpling places you would consider taking someone on a date to, unless they are super into dumplings and have low standards when it comes to table hygiene, in which case your mom and I think you can do better. So go to Mimi s instead and avoid hepatitis, and also get some awesome dumplings. The menu is small, pork, chicken, veggie, and a rotating special. You can get an order or 6 or 8 and split an order between two types. While this makes for some interesting mathematical combinations, it s a nice way to try a bunch of the types without getting the dreaded dumpling bloat. The pork were our favorite, but the chicken were solid as well. You can t go wrong with any of the options here. The special sauce, a mildly spicy soy mix (and if you re feeling particularly adventurous, mix in some sriracha) goes great with the dumplings as well. Go for fried for the extra texture. The chairs do stick a bit to the floor in a concerning fashion, but there are mini cacti on each table, so I think it evens out.
If your looking for inexpensive eats and hankering for dumplings this is the place to go. Their homemade chili oil is tangy and slightly spicy - I would have smuggled the bottle out if it wasn't so huge!
Great little dumpling shop that gets crowded very quickly.
OMG these dumplings are the best in ny. The little Chinese ladies are hand making them at the counter. The ingredients and flavors in these precious dumplings are a party for the senses.
Fantastic dumplings place that additionally has some great alternatives on the menu. Be sure to try their buckwheat soba!!
I had the super V dumplings and they were unbearably salty and had no flavor. Very disappointing.
I was expecting something better for the price of $12 (8 pieces) for dumplings but it was such a let down. The beef noodle soup only contains two meatballs and the soup tastes has no flavor except sourness
Food was delicious, a little expensive but I guess it s worth it . The wait time is kind of long and the young lady at the front seemed in a rush to take my order like she just wanted to be over with it when I was asking her questions about the menu not really friendly and her phone was out as she walked away to do something. Seemed like it wasn t enough staff tonight I just saw her and a guy in the back cooking who seemed more friendly then her .
This little shop turns out some mean dumplings to suit all, including vegetarian options. Plus they have a dumpling special to keep things interesting. Seating comes at a premium but there are couple of benches out front as well. Worth the extra coin for a higher quality product!
Selection is small but that's because they're doing it right! Amazing dumplings
Good, simple dumpling shop. Breezy atmosphere and a simple menu of good flavour combinations.
Was my first time trying Mimi Cheng's and had the pork and chicken dumplings. They were everything I could have hoped for. Seriously best around. Will be coming back soon.
Was introduced to this placed with their special Mac and cheese dumplings with a CBD sauce (limited time) I continued to come for their other dumpling options. Everything is just so good! Definitely check this place out if you are in the area
Great small dumpling shop, the prices for a small plate of dumplings are a bit high but the food is amazing.
