I called this company on a saturday because my air conditioner quit working - the operator said someone would call me back so i waited ( in a 90 degree house ) and waited and waited - never got that call. Meanwhile I called a second company and they had the problem fixed in two hours. I do not recommend Midwest Heating and Cooling - they wont even call you back - I would give them 0 stars but had to give them 1 star so this would post

We had two technicians installed my new humidifier...

We had two technicians installed my new humidifier in less than an hour. They also sealed off a pretty bad part of the the basement that let cold air in. I didn't even ask them to do that but they went above and beyond what was expected of them.

Had them come out as our furnace kept cycling on and off, they cleaned it, said it was fixed but issue persisted. They came back and saw a flame was fluttering so jumped to conclusions and said we had a cracked heat exchanger, need it replaced and would likely just need whole unit replaced. They said it was dangerous to operate, but didn't go as far as shutting down and labeling it as unsafe.

Called another company who brought out actual tools to diagnose the heat exchanger, and they discovered it was perfectly fine. The outside vent was placed on the house wrong (something Midwest inspected, but didn't realize)

From what the new company told us, this is a common scam when business is low (cracked heat exchanger). Not sure if that is the case here with Midwest or a lack of education / professionalism. We've used Midwest in the past but given this experience we will use the company who tackled the job the right way moving forward.

I had them come out to give me a quote on a hot water heater, they were higher than everyone else but said they had it in stock so I went with them. A week later they showed up without a hot water heater, telling me they need to measure but it's definitely going to be alot more than they quoted me. I will never use them, I called Lowe's and I am going to pay the emergency price since I haven't had hot water in a week.

Mike was patient, upfront, and honest during the sales process. The installers were very thorough and addressed all our concerns and questions. Prices were fair, everyone has stood behind their word, and I am excited to not have to dread calling the HVAC or plumbing company finally :).

Been using Midwest for over 10 years. No complaints. Great company! We had a part go bad the other day and they sent out a tech after hours to check it over. Called in today and spoke with Felicia. She said she could get it done tomorrow in the afternoon. She called us back today and got our issue resolved and fixed today. Outstanding customer service and a great effort by Felicia to help us out. She did a great job, very friendly, helpful and professional. She offered such good customer service and we really felt that she cared about us as customers. Lifelong Midwest customer. Felicia is one of the reasons we wont go anywhere else.

I like my new furnace/ac system. The new thermostat they put in is much easier to use and see. I appreciated the company sending someone to help with the furnace when it was freezing outside. Also, they were able to fix the leak under a bathroom sink very quickly. Their prices were reasonable too. I would recommend them to friends and family.

They take the time to explain the service or issue, then fix it right the first time. They are honest & have options for fixing the problem with reasonable pricing. I had Midwest Heating Cooling & Plumbing come out to service our furnace. The office let me know when the technician would be there and he actually arrived a little earlier. He was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He replaced the filter that had clogged and found that the capacitor on the blower fan was not working at optimum and suggested replacing it. He answered all of my questions without hesitation and had a very good working knowledge of our furnace (which is 20 years old). I will definitely hire them again.

We contacted Midwest Heating, Cooling & Plumbing after a family member suggested them. My husband's grandparents and parents both had Midwest install new units. Every person we came in contact with was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. They quoted us a great price along with a great warranty and informed us of helpful rebates that were available. Our concerns were addressed, questions answered and we had our installation appointment scheduled that day. Our poor installers worked through one of the hottest days of the year and kept us updated as to what was happening. The installation was complete during the hottest portion of the day but our new units had our home cooled before bedtime. We went to bed with peace of mind that our units would not continue to cost us big bucks on our utility bills or give out completely. Thanks Midwest!

In the midst of the recent pandemic, and on a Sunday night, my furnace stopped. Monday morning, I called Midwest Heating and Cooling. They arranged for a service call between 9:00 and noon the same morning. The technician called when on his way, arrived exactly on time and effectively fixed my problem. This quality of service and professionalism is consistent with other times when I have called Midwest. The fact that it happened when their workforce was challenged by the pandemic made it all the more appreciated.

I had a really good experience with this company. They have now replaced both of my 18 year-old HVAC units. The installers were very professional and friendly. Mike Epps was my sales person and he was great. No, they are not the cheapest in town, but price also depends on the kind of equipment you purchase. I've done the "buy the cheapest new unit possible" in another home. You get what you pay for. Would highly recommend.

Ill be the first to admit that I don't know much in terms of heating. I was so sick of companies trying to take advantage of that fact. I had a problem with my heating unit and had two other companies charge me to come out and take a look at it, but they never really told me what the issue was. I just want everyone at Midwest for their help, and more importantly their honesty. You guys were upfront and told me what the problem was and fixed it for a reasonable cost. I havent had an issue since the visit! It really is such a relief to find a comaony I can trust that isnt just out for a quick dollar.

I have yet to find a go-to HVAC business here in KC, unfortunately. I researched several companies and shopped around before replacing my 15-year old heat pump in 2009. Midwest was reasonably priced and sold name brand equipment (I bought a Lennox XP14 for my modest home), so I figured they had to be good at what they did and responsive with their customer service. BBB reviews checked out, too.

Nope. Three years later, my (3-year old) heat pump has purged its refrigerant. I pay $100 for a technician (Scott) to stop by and tell me there is a problem (I knew that) and he sounds skeptical that Lennox will even cover the repairs. Scott stopped by on a Tuesday and tells me that they will call Lennox and get back with me in a couple of days.

I make a follow-up call a WEEK later (since I never heard back from Scott) and their service guy (also Scott) tells me that ALL of the people at Lennox who make warranty decisions are at a conference and that all of Midwest's people who could speak with the Lennox people about repair/replacement are at this same conference. He's not sure when they will be able to tell me if it is covered under warranty. Six inches of snow is forecast for later this same week, mind you.

I ask for a confirmation of when they will be able to get back with me - it has already been a week! Scott says he's not sure. I asked how long the conference was and Scott hemmed and hawed and said the conference is this week, but he would never say if they would call back or when. I then asked if I called back next Monday if they'd know anything. He begrudgingly said they should, and that Midwest would be the one calling me back.

By the time I will have heard back from Midwest, it will have been almost two weeks. My furnace will still be non-functional.

I'm disappointed with both Lennox and Midwest. They don't seem to stand behind their equipment, and customer service after the sale is poor.

UPDATE: Almost three weeks later, the heat pump is repaired. After two frustrating follow-up calls to Midwest (they never returned a single call they said they would), and two calls to Lennox, my heating bills will be cut by about two-thirds, back to their normal levels. I could revise my rating up, but here are three reasons why I am not:

(1) Poor customer service. I should not have to make follow-up calls when you don't do what you say you are going to do. I put in a service request with another company because I didn't expect Midwest to come through, but which I had to cancel at the last minute. Honesty, follow-through, and common courtesy are what I expect, and what I experience 99.9% of the time. Not with Midwest.

(2) Over-billed. The agreed-upon charge over the phone was $100 with the same technician that serviced my heat pump the first time, with the understanding that Lennox would foot the rest of the bill. When he wrote the bill, it had jumped another $100. He charged me another $100 diagnostic fee. The problem hasn't changed in three weeks. He knew what the problem was when he arrived. Why ANOTHER $100 when we agreed over the phone what it would cost?

(3) Poor quality. Scott told me there is nothing I could have done differently, that sometimes things just fail. I paid extra because of the Lennox brand (there were less-costly options), knowing that they have a good reputation to maintain. I regularly inspect my heat pump, replace the filters, and keep moderate temperatures in my home to reduce the load on the unit. Three years into the unit's service life, I'm out $300 plus several hours of frustration, and an extra $400 total on my last three electric bills. Will this happen again in three years? Will the problem be worse, the bill higher, and not covered under the warranty?

Lennox doesn't stand behind their product enough to foot the bill for a problem that shouldn't have happened in the first place, and Midwest doesn't stand behind their products or workmanship, either.

Lennox and Midwest have lost my future business.

We recently called Midwest Heating and Cooling to look at our air conditioner that was not blowing cold air. The technician, Steve, said that we were low on freon. After filling it with freon, he then told us that it may or may not hold the freon. One would think that when you pay $99 that the technician would actually diagnose something. Oh no! In order to run a test to determine a leak, there is another $12e fee. Isn't that what there is job is?! To diagnose and fix the problem. Needless to say, within 2-3 days, the air wasn't blowing air again. Out $300 and now have to pay someone else to fix our air conditioner. One would think they would stand by their work and offer a discount on the next service call. Apparently, people don't back their work these days. We will not be recommending this company.

The people who answer my calls are great as well as both the salesman and servicemen. I honestly have been very impressed with all of their work. Great Company.

Unfortunately, the salesman told me that the first year of service would be free. That was not true - I ended up having to pay for a service plan after the fact to get someone out to service my HVAC in the spring. On top of that the spring service technician knocked off my outdoor temperature sensor on my heat pump, and rather than just plugging it back into the circuit board, he wanted to set up and bill me for a repair. I fixed it myself in 30 second. I doubt the repair would have cost much, but it just felt dishonest. Between the incorrect information on the service cost and that experience, it will make me second guess advice given in the future.

Last Saturday I told the owner of Midwest, John Lambert, about my neighbor who had a furnace that had been out of service for two years. My neighbor is a proud single woman living with a debilitating illness and a son with special needs. Within one week, John and his team at Midwest had overhauled her failing furnace with new parts. This work was performed in the same professional manner in which they had always done my work. When they were finished, John Lambert insisted that Midwest cover all costs associated with the project

I ve used Midwest for a long time then moved to a new place. Called them to clean a drain and replace a bathtub spout. The little thing you pull on the spout wasn t fully diverting the water from the tub to the shower. I m of bad health and don t have time or energy to deal with these things, thus I let the guy rip me off. Cost: $99 for visit, $210 to clear bathtub drain(5 minutes work - just poured a drain cleaner down it), $200 to install bathtub spout. They were going to charge an additional $99 on top of this for 2nd visit to install spout, unless I paid them $310 that day to clean drain. I have a Midwest furnace & water heater too. No one can tell me where the filter goes in. The Midwest plumber couldn t tell me. They asked for ANOTHER $99 to send out a furnace guy. So, all total, the cost to clean one bathtub drain, replace the bathtub spout, & show me where the furnace filter is installed: $710 + tax

The Midwest plumber could not tell me where the filter goes. I repeat, Midwest was going to charge me 3x $99 for each visit 1/initial visit 2/visit to install spout 3/visit to tell me where the filter goes in the Midwest installed furnace(no repair) This is on top of the drain cleaning(5 minutes work) & spout replacement of $410 for a total of $710. I admit I agreed to pay initial visit fee and the drain cleaning & spout replacement, but just because I agreed does not mean I wasn t grossly overcharged. For Midwest not to send someone who CAN tell me where the filter goes because the plumber CANNOT is like adding insult to injury.

Yes, I was expecting the plumber to be back to install the spout early this week, but when I talked to him yesterday, he said he didn t even remember who I was, nor agreeing to order the spout. Now, it won t be until next week, when it was supposed to just be 2 days. Needless to say, this has been a disaster and huge expense for something minor. They also gave me a quote of over $2,000 to replace a 40 gallon water heater.

I have the quotes and receipts, so I m not making this up. Then they have the nerve to come on here and tell me to Have A Nice Day.

Just had a terrible experience with Midwest which is surprising considering they get great online reviews and they were recommended to me by a friend. When I called the service center to see if I could get an appointment for a service call the lady informed me that unless they had been to my address before they wouldn't be able to get here until tomorrow. I said OK, and then she recommended that I call someone else, like a national chain company. I kid you not, she literally told me to, "Call AB May, or Neil Harris, or some other big chain company." When I said that I was calling a locally owned company because I didn't want to go through a national chain she said, "OK, thanks. Bye" and hung up.
She did not even ask if I wanted an appointment for tomorrow. Very disappointed in the awful customer service.
BTW, I didn't call a national company, I called another locally owned company and they are coming out later this morning.
