Came alone to see a favorite DJ, and was a little scared walking a couple of blocks to get to this club since there were numerous sketchy people in this neighborhood. But once inside, I was surprised that although it's not a really big space, the sound system was really amazing! The other pluses was that there are several bars inside (which made for shorter lines), and most importantly, lots of stalls in the women's restroom (this is a Huge deal)! Security was really cool and helpful too. Definitely would come back without hesitation.

It's a club, nice enough, but zero seating. For these oldies shows (MC 900 Foot Jesus & Meat Manifesto), seating is needed, I'd have bought another drink if I could have sat down, and from the looks of who left early, I wasn't the only one.
I attended a sponsored party, "Ship It" from Digital Ocean and had a swell time. The venue has an off the street entrance that opens up into a comfortable dance floor / stage area with a balcony above.
Can get pretty busy but have good talent come play the venue, so sometimes it's worth braving the crowds. Come early, hangout up stairs and get your buzz on before it gets too packed.
Rating this from the standpoint of a live music venue; setup is awkward with the stage set in the corner and a large support pole just off center that blocks a lot of viewing area. Stage is also very small. DJ setup is just as awkward as the tables are set off to the side, although the support pole is less of an issue. Has the feel of a nightclub and lacks any sort of charm. When the upper mezzanine is open, it has another bar and some good viewing spots that are generally less crowded. They occasionally get some good acts that come through, but that is obviously subjective. I reserve this spot only for acts that I love as this venue tends to detract slightly from the experience, making an average band not worth seeing in my opinion.
This was my first time here. Locals who we went to college with brought us and it was lit! Really open so u can see the stage/DJ/performance well. There s an upper area, hence the mezzanine name. Bottle service and pretty dank drinks. Wine was awful tho lol.
Excellent place and sound I was in the event of ilanbluestone really another level I would only like more lights, strobos and screens behind each artist, Greetings!
Been there for Stromae concert. You can't beat the ambiance of such a small place for a concert. Drinks aren't too expensive too. Come early, there is obviously no seating.
I've been here a few time to catch some people I wanna see, and it's a pretty good venue. It's not in the nicest area, but it's easy to get to with Muni or BART.
There's multiple bars, but the one on the upper level seems to be the least crowded, and you can chill on the couches as long as no one booked the table. I never really see a lot of people get table service anyway. Bartenders are efficient, and drinks are strong!
I really like that the dance floor doesn't get packed like sardines. There's a lot of people, but you still have your own personal space to move around and dance. Whoever is headlining, it's always a pretty good time. Untz Untz Untz
We've had the pleasure of seeing some truly amazing artists at this intimate spot. Worth checking out, especially if an artist you would like to see is preforming.
Normally I don't like going to clubs but I've always been intrigued by Bootie's concept of a club full of mashups. A mashup is when they layer one song's vocals over another song's instrumental. You can just imagine what kind of interesting combinations get played here.
Great place to catch a show! It's tucked away in a back ally and the surronding area is full of sketch people, but the venue is very well kept! It's a decent size spot but can get really hot inside (coat check is a must). I rarely pass up a concert I want to see at this venue.
I love this venue. When it's full the mezzanine is awesome, but even when it's half full the crowd is amazing! Intimate and friendly. Will always see a group or artist if they perform here.
Been here for a few concerts and specifically for Big Freeda and K Michelle. I don't like how they charge you for tip right away when you use your card. That drives me nuts.
Bartenders are awesome but drink portions are limited
I usually have mixed feelings about going to this venue primarily because of the crowds but some of my favorite artists come through this venue so it makes it worth it. The bartenders and drinks are fine, no complaints there.
Fantastic intimate little place with well-made, reasonably priced drinks. The space is awesome for dancing, the lighting is fun, and the bathrooms are nice and clean.
If you drive like we did, go to the Fifth and Mission garage. It's huge, well-lit, and clean - unlike almost every other lot nearby.
The best place for a night out dancing to cutting edge music as well as classics. All the pretty people live at Mezzanine and the staff a true professional. I feel safe when I'm at the Mezz. + they make some darn good drinks.
If you are looking for a proper night club in a cool spot, Mezzanine is your spot. Nestled among the Treasury buildings, Mezzanine is just the right size with table service as well as a large open dance floor and all the electronic music you want.
Bravo to the success this restaurant has, I give many thanks to the wonderful meal I was privileged to enjoy. Everything about my experience here was over the top amazing! From the service that never slipped on timing and attentiveness, to the beautiful dishes the cooks prepared, I was completely satisfied in every way possible! I didn't know it till they came to my table but the soda isn't regular Coke and Sprite brands, it's different companies I haven't even heard of that use very easy ingredients plus real sugar! They were so good!! All of us ended having the Refugee chef Dinner, was an easy descision to make. It was a uniquely constructed 3-course meal put together by a refugee chef, and it's a meal that is traditionally enjoyed in their country of origin! I was blowing only if I have wonderful that experience was yeah, and for a relatively cheap price from what you would expect! Took definitely all the thinking away from hard descision making, which makes my life easier. And I don't regret that decision at all!! Of course the warm bread I must comment on as well because it was addicting, so nice that our table of four people had a CONSTANT stock of it! Just ask, they'll bring.
Wow what a great way to start my night, worth every penny that's for sure. =^_^=
Just another lame sf venue that oversells tickets.
They crowd back to the bar, but you can t even hear the music at the bar. Plus it s bright and you can t see anything.
Several people threw up on the floor last time I was there, and there was no room to avoid the puke.
Seriously, if awesome venues like Regency and Independent can sell out shows and give their patrons room to dance, so can you. Just charge more for tickets. I would pay more to not have to feel everyone breath on my neck, and not feel vomit splash on my feet.
You re not a real music venue if you don t give patrons room to dance. Do better.
It's a simple club. Needs better ventilation as it gets very hot and the ceiling has been known to drip. While that's the mark of a good DJ, it's not the mark of a well ventilated club. They pull a decent crowd - not too posh, not too scrub. So that's the redeeming factor here. I only come if the talent is there on the night.
Loved the venue, concert was reasonably priced and awesome. Watch out for the bartender that needs anger management. He might have a terrific verbal assault explosion or like me suffer the fallout.
My experience at the Mezzanine was a mix of highs and unfortunate lows. The concert we saw was fantastic and made better by the intimate venue. I was however deeply disappointed by the rudeness of the staff. Before the headliner came on stage, the lead stage/production manager came over and yelled at those of us in the front row to inform us that if we put drinks on the edge of the stage he would kick us out. Nobody up front had done anything earlier in the evening to incite this type of reprimanding. I m fine with people laying down their boundaries and stating house rules. A heads up would have been fine. It wasn t cool on his part to start off with a threat. There are kinder ways to manage people and (surprise) they even tend to be more responsive to that method of communication. Admittedly, I could see he was good at his job otherwise. He was attentive and acted quickly when a girl nearby got out of control and needed to be removed by security. On our way out, we were exiting through the double door. One door was closed and there was a whole group of people slowly making their way out. I thought I would try to open the second door to help expedite the process so we could all get home (it was 1:30am).
Upon my attempt to open it, one member of the security team slammed the door back on me to the intensity that it threw my body onto the people behind me. Immediately I could hear them yelling about my attempt to open the door. Somebody could have gotten seriously injured if things had gone even a little differently, like someone s hands slipping along the wall and into the door hinges. They could have easily put a sign on the back of the closed door, asking people that it remain shut while exiting following the concert. They could add a bolt to the top and bottom of the door. Instead, they opted for a semi-dangerous alternative. Ultimately, the staff needs to be contentious of how they interact with customers. They should sincerely reevaluate their practices.
Went to see Front 242 there in September 2017. Staff was friendly and helpful. I have bad knee pain and they made sure I had a place to sit down and enjoy the show. Beautiful lighting effects and video. It feels more like a place to see a band than a bar.
Decent venue and staff, kind of weird layout for a nightclub. I prefer it as an art gallery with a bar and music like when Irene ran SF Wonderland there!
Getting early is KEY! Always awesome performances and the place does get packed! Enjoyed many past concerts and last night enjoyed seeing Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def! Get drinks before heading out to the floor otherwise, you won't be able to make it inside the crowd.
Not the worst but not the best venue ijn the city. Close to public transit and a huge 24 hr parking garage. 21+, need Id. Shows are pretty cheap here. ($20-30)
Mezzanine is a very good place to go dancing. I was first put off by how many people were in there. Then when I start talking to them everyone was very kind and friendly. Probably one of the most friendliest clubs in San Francisco.
8/19/17 came for 'One more time - Tribute to Daft Punk', advertised for 9 PM, started at 1AM with rude bouncer, annoying DJs, annoying post in the middle in front of stage and fake unprofessional cover band, not worth the time and money, hated this experience here, never coming back for sure.
