Good sound system, expensive drinks, still a shame it's being sold

This is most horrible place in San Francisco! Yesterday I went to event and I was attacked by security people who work at Mezzanine for taking a video of the event from the balcony. Apparently I was in VIP zone taking a video. I was immediately escorted out and told I can not enter the event. After pulling my phone out to record the explanation why I was escorted out security people attacked me, dropped me on a ground and started choking me until I passed out! They took my phone away from me and have not given it back after asking them politely to give it back. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS PLACE!

Great sound. Great bartenders. Great acts. Been to so many memorable shows there.

I was at Slaptop show and it was amazing! the club is big they have a lot of bars and the music and the sounds systems are very good check it out

Solid medium size club visited for concert of Revolting Cocks and Frontline Assembly.

I like the multilevels here. I came here to setup for a SFIFF party.

If a band or artist you want to see is performing, it is not a bad place for a live show. It's a little bare bones for and EDM show. Lofted warehouse feel, with a couple bars downstairs and a small bar upstairs along with bottle service. Feels a bit old but overall a good experience with a decent sound system and open dance floor.

I always have a good time here, and I've been attending here and there since 2012. The acoustics have worked well for a variety of musical performances that I have attended. It's big enough and has enough of an outdoor smoking area that you can find some space but it does often get very very crowded, especially if they don't open up the top floor. I appreciate that the bartenders serve water, and I've never had a problem with any of the staff. the large crowd can be the only issue but that's typical of this type of venue. Their drink/coatcheck prices are reasonable, and I never have to wait in line for the bathroom. Rare to find nearby parking, you're better off taking public transportation. Some events include table service but don't expect it depending on the show.

Absolutely terrible sound system. I'm an audiophile so I'd know.

Great space for concert venues. Large enough to host a concert, but still intimate enough so it's not a megaclub vibe. Great spacing of bars to accommodate traffic flows!

Probably have to revisit to give it in accurate score because this was the last stop of the night and anything and everything excited me by the time we made it here. We made it right before last call had a drink and then danced until the lights came on.

Went to the Dirty Bird Quarterly, was off the chain. Great venue.

I always have a good time here. Though the last time I was there for the show, the crowd was just strange. Still a good crowd. Well will cost you about $9 and beers are about $6.

Hard to find parking close to the place. We were in a concert and they let too many people to get inside and it was very crowded and hot.

Great venue for a party atmosphere, but the tables on the balcony are placed oddly, in locations without the greatest view of the stage.

Really enjoyed the venue so many talented Artists also wonderful people.

This place got to be kidding people. They make everyone stand outside for a long time, then delay shows for nearly two hours so they can sell more alcohol. Are they for real??!! What makes them think they can waist people s time?? If you feel like waistig three hours of your time for a concert go there! Never going back there ever.

The people working at the door are so unprofessional and unpolite! I asked them to step out for 1 minute to bring my brother back in and they didn t want to let me back in even though they let other people without even having tickets! Then to top it off when I kindly asked why are you letting other people in and not me , they started acting racist and they even pushed me out of the venue and started cursing on me and pushing me! I even have videos taken of the girl that was pushing me and the other security guys! What an awful experience!
Oh and I m suing you guys for the unfair treatment .. !

Old post: back when we could freely enjoy in the clubs! Although great artists have performed here, the club in itself is pretty small.

Not too impressed with the venue - a little awkwardly laid out for a place that size (locations of stage, bathrooms, stairs...), long/slow line to get in well after doors opened, and had to go to the bar for tap water (no fountains or tanks around). I'd go back if a band I want to see is playing

A venue space that nurtures all different genres of artists and event. There are at least 3 different bars with at least 4 bartenders to lubricate the night. Their most amazing feature is the smoking space in the back that is very well circulated with fresh outside air and ample seating. The bathroom is good enough that the line never gets too long.

The space is quite large and can accommodate hundreds of people. There are VIP table service on the mezzanine.

This is definitely one of the better venues in the city. Nothing quite like getting a can of PBR to bring out on the dance floor. Great VIP section above the main dance floor with great views. My only complaint would be the bathroom gets incredibly dirty and it doesn't seem like anyone cleans it throughout the night.

Beautiful venue, clean facilities. Very well run. Drinks are very well made, proper cocktails! Nothing on draft but average beer bottles selection. But nice venue super friendly staff! From bouncers to bartenders, everyone was very nice.

Good shows, kinda bad venue. Stage is in a corner and there are pillars in the middle of the floor. Doesn't know if it's a dance club or a live music club. Every main act I've seen has started @ 11pm SHARP.

I was recently there and liked the place. It was my 1st time there and got to see a band I've been wanting to see for a while. The place looked clean and the crowd was cool. My friend and I got the VIP tickets and it really wasn't worth it. All the tables and seating has signs for bottle service only. The rest of the VIP section was basically a little pathway between the bottle service reserved tables. They had two bars up there which didn't have many people in line but not quite sure my VIP ticket was worth it. If you buy a VIP ticket, with or without bottle service, there should be a seat for you and you should have a good view. This was not the case. Even some of the people who had bottle service has to leave their table and stand around to actually see the show! I was able to enjoy the show from the downstairs/general area just fine and I would've saved myself some money. On another note, there was a bartender on the main floor who was very rude! And older guy. While I was upstairs my friend went to get a drink downstairs as it wasn't crowded. I could hear the man from the balcony!! Keep in mind there was a lot of people and the band was playing!! No need for all that. Other than that, I would go to the MEZZANINE again, I just wouldn't get the VIP passes- waste of money.

Fun night club where my company had our quarterly party. They offer the ability to have food trucks parked in the back of the club. Very cool!

They charge tax on drinks. I've never seen a bar charge tax. The price in the upstair's bar differs from the main bar? Get it together!

The bands never show up, they just try to get you to sit around waiting for hours and buying their overpriced drinks.

Cool spot but standing room only unless you're in the VIP section. Good music acts. Haven't tried their drinks.

I've been here a few times now for lunch and dinner and love everything they serve. The food is delicious and the cocktails are really good. Dinner can get pricey, but the flavor and the quality of the food justifies the price. I haven't been to their rooftop bar yet, but walked up there to quickly check it out and looks like a great place for happy hour!

Awesome location. Not to big not to small. Great atmosphere. saw the barenaked ladies love here and it was a great setting!

Saw Meat Beat Manifesto here. The sound system handled it in splendid fashion. Seriously, that's saying a lot.

Cool tropical themed bar with a under water / sea like ambience. Great service. Good cocktails. Enjoyed the booth seating for more intimate conversations and standing cocktail area for more social atmosphere.

Decent club, bouncers kicking a lot of people out for spitting but hey you can always sneak in through the back.

Would give it a 4 but here s why its a 1.
I been there over 4 times now. Everytime i go, their production setup is lackluster.
And worst of all It s uncomfortably hot. Its difficult to dance because the floor is so slippery from the sweat

Cool vibe but there's COLUMNS in the middle of the DANCE FLOOR. These sometimes block the view of the stage.

Excellent large venue to catch world class dj's and live music. Drinks were reasonably priced, staff was courteous, bartenders were good and the sound system was great. No complaints at all.

The bathroom attendant/security guard was very abrasive! The club is very crowded but has tons of great artist. Coat check in for $3 is, water is $5 and cocktails are $13. Pretty reasonable for the area.

Good venue to come get your party on. It may be kind of hard to find because it's down an alley.

I like the concrete/underground feel this place has. It has a good sized back patio for smoking or fresh air. I like to come here with my friends and have a good night.

Love it always a great time sad they will be closing at the ens of the year. Had some great time here. Friendly staff and security is the best very helpful

Great concert hall. Sound and size. Could use more seating options. I must say I was offered a chair since I was on crutches. I will definitely go back there for more live music.

Great venue. Sound is top notch ...just be aware that the bar automatically adds %20 to all credit (and debit!) purchases...otherwise nothing bad to say about this place

Not good, not bad. Went here for a concert. Great if you like long lines and a crowded and hot club vibe, it's more a club than a concert venue. Decent sound system!

Went there for an office party. They have a stage for live performances and bar across the hall. Some seating area on level above and food was decent.
Had a great time, I'd say.

They upgraded the sound system, bring ur ear plugs. Also be prepared it gets really hot in the club. They do have coat check and multiple bars

Amazing night life action if you catch a show here!!! Rhis place has a great quality sound system, awesome bartenders that are friendly and patient. Drinks are good for your normal bar drinks and decent prices. Lovely bunch of people there no problems with anyone in the crowd. Awesome security and staff. If theres a show here go and enjoy it at this venue

Excellent small venue perfect for dancing and not feeling too empty or too crowded. I've seen several shows here ranging from ambient noise to full on old school jungle and house techno. Kind staff on duty.

This is one of my favorite clubs in the city. Generally not overcrowded, the sound is excellent, lots of bars and a great back patio, and great headliners! Bring cash, they add an auto gratuity of 20% on cards!

Fun, good crowd and music, but very strict security.

The Beyonce and Riri event was done so right! Want to thank security for always keeping it safe and the bartenders that deal with the mess. An most importantly the DJ, killed it. #dancer

No longer a Nightclub space, as of Jan 2020. Building will now be leased out as office spaces for more greedy money made. Such a shame to see it flipped in this direction, like we really needed more florescent lit spaces vs dimly lit creative ones SF, you break my heart!
