As an employee of Metropolis I would like to comment on the previous review and reach out to this person and let them know that, yes, we did have our system compromised several years ago, just as many major Fortune 500 companies did. Even the Pentagon was not impregnable to this. We are PCI compliant and all sensitive information is encrypted. In addition to this, we have taken further steps to prevent anything like this from happening ever again. As for your book being unavailable, we work with many consignors worldwide and on occasion they will sell a book with out our knowledge. We are always happy to accommodate our customers as best as we can in this situation. I am at our reception desk and am always available during business hours to discuss any issues or problems our customers may have. Brandon

If I could give them a zero I would. I won a numb...

If I could give them a zero I would. I won a number of comics at auction. When I went into the website to pay for them, this could not be done. I received email messages from them and responded to each one. I teach and they attempted to call me during school hours when I could not take the call. There were a total of 4 of these calls. I returned each of these calls and left a message. They sent me emails, to which I responded. They accused me of not responding. James warned that if I did not pay that they would shut down the account as of the 25th. They did so on the 19th. When I phoned, they instantly restored the account. No apology...nothing. They sent me a pay pal link which did not work. When I went into the website, it refused to verify my cards...despite the fact my cards worked everywhere else. James was rude and hung up on me. Seemed to be excessively interested in my personal credit card information being given to a person over the phone. When I (rightly) refused to do so, they declared us at an impasse. Cancelled my account and returned my items. I returned the call to Andrew. Andrew took my card number which verified just fine. But by then I had apparently lost the comics and my account is stalled as well. Bad customer relations skills, poorer IT skills. An inability to complain to anyone at a higher echelon. Obviously, the problem is a complete lack of accountability.

They removed the reviews section from their Facebook page which is telling. To be fair so did ComicLink, but they have zero google reviews which is better than 1 bad review. I'd give this place a zero if I could. No consistency with their shipping times, charging times, customer service, or even if they have a book at all. I called after ordering off the Metropolis website and they said it was consignor error. I didn't order from their ComicConnect site, I ordered from metropolis, they don't advertise that they work with consignors. The guy I spoke with didn't have an answer and I just hung up. Who lists books they don't have?
With ComicLink I know I'll get my books well inside of 2 weeks, and have never bought a book that wasn't in stock. Here, I've waited on orders for over a month, sometimes being told that the book isn't even available, pretty much leaving me waiting for an order that doesn't even exist, and they charge for the book at the most random times. When I call I can get it sent out sooner, but who wants to do that for every order? The ComicConnect site was updated, but still doesn't have a mobile version, and the Metropolis site is ridiculously dated.
I've stopped using them to avoid the frustration they bring as the only consistent aspect of the company. I find it easier using ebay and other comic houses. This place is way too old to still be flying by the seat of their pants.

The female clerk with dark hair and a nose ring was increadibly rude to me and my parter. Not only would she not help us in finding a specific book, (she was more interested in her phone, and we asked her a few times in thr hour we were there) she constanly misgendered both of us and seemes to have a real distain for my partner who happens to be from the Philippines. I could not believe how uncomfortable she made us feel, its not what i have come to expect from metropolis, since we make the pilgrimage from Toronto at least 4 times a year. I have to say, after our last experience here with this rude, unprofessional woman, we won't be returning, and I strongly advise any one else considering going to metropolis to think twice if you are not a cis white person.

Bought an Incredible Hulk #105 a few years ago. They said it was a 6.0, which maybe it is, but here's my problem with them. A coupon was cut out of it, and there was no mention of it. They're a bunch of slime balls imo.

I've purchased comic books with Metropolis Collect...

I've purchased comic books with Metropolis Collectibles on a few occasions and never had an issue, until yesterday. I ordered a 9.8 grade Fantastic Four #276 and when I arrived at reception I was given the book but there was no Metropolis grading label attached. The book didn't appear to me to be a 9.8 so I asked to speak to someone who could tell me why there was no grading label on my book. A guy came out to the reception desk and I asked him if he could tell me if the book was a 9.8. This is the gist of our interaction... He looked at the book and stated that it definitely wasn't a 9.8. the black and white cover wasn't glossy white, it was off white. I said well, I ordered the 9.8 so why am I being given this book if it's not a 9.8. He said it was a consignment order and the consignor graded the book. That's a rather odd excuse considering the Metropolis website states all comics are carefully and strictly graded by Metropolis Collectibles under the supervision of the owners. This comic book wasn't graded by anyone at Metropolis. No member of the staff had even looked over the book before it was presented to me at checkout. So Metropolis is lying to their customers about their grading policy. And to make matters worse they didn't even try to rectify the situation. This experience was very disappointing and has soured my interest in comic book collecting. 1 out of 5 stars.

Bumped into Anthony & Robert in the elevator who told me all about this company. Anthony was such a great help. Greeted me and my husband with a smile he was very courteous and helpful. Robert who works in stock, also helped us out a lot.
I work on the 8th floor of the same building and have sent my staff down to them. Anthony made sure all their questions were answered.
Thank you 6th floor!!!

On january 7th 2019 i went to their website and saw they had a dark knight returns 1 st print 9.8 cgc for a really cheap price so i created and acct and bought it. It was charged on my credit card acct immediately and the next day it was credited back. So i call them to see what what happend and the guy tells me. They will charge my acct when the comic arrives and they will ship it to me and it takes about 3 weeks. I was like no problem i understand. so 3 weeks go buy and nothing . I call them yesterday on jan 30 2019 to follow up and immediately the guy tells me that they need to call me back and i was like ok and i gave them my number. I get a call back the gentleman tells me that it was sold before my purchase and i was dumb founded. But it was on the website and i have proof of purchase receipt and he says it was a clerical error. I explained i called 3 weeks ago why wasnt i told them instead of me sitting here waiting. All he said it was a clerical error and nothing can be done. I go on the website today to look at my account and its been deleted. If they wouldve tried to attempt to fix this i wouldnt be annoyed or upset, but all he said was it was out of there control and kept saying it was a clerical error. No customer service what so ever.... if their was something less than 1 star id deff give them that because 1 star is giving them too much credit....

Make sure you check your comics if you purchase from here. I have purchased 15 golden age comics and 2 have come back from CGC restored and 1 had a glued spine so I knew it was restored... They say they check for restoration, but don't. Also, they make you pay the shipping back for their mistake!

Buyer beware...

Vince and crew were all absolutely amazing! What could have just been a quick pickup of a comic became a personalized behind the scenes tour of their epic collection of art and artifacts. Simply awesome folks.

This is the best gallery in NYC! Their collection is out of this world and every time I go I find something I love more than the last time I visited. Comic fans and fantasy lovers, this is a must see!
