My grandmother got put in this facility after she broke her pelvis. It was not a good experience. I too was expecting Christian values to be at work in this place since they have "Christian" in their name, but not so. We got grandma out as soon as possible.

I have been in nursing feild for over 20 years worked in different areas and this best group of people in management and out on the floor that I've ever worked with. They really care. We had our mom and dad here at one point and time before I was employed here The doctor was amazing to both of them and everyone treated my mom and dad like it was there own family. Proud to say I am a employee of Mess Christian!

Lets give a shoutout to Debbie Dyer and her amazing team in the activities department. During these hard times it's difficult to keep our resident busy and occupied . Thanks to her staff for all they do by going around to each room with activities cart and playing HALLWAY bingo which is so much fun. Great job to all.

The staff really cares about the residents and this facility. All the way from Administrators, activities, nursing, maintenance, housekeeping, everyone has a part in keeping the residents (and staff) safe from the Covid virus and working as a team, and it shows! The activities department has offered different games and things to do due to having to be social distancing.

We have worked very closely with Mesa Christian- as a partner in patient care- for the last 3 years. The staff is very warm, caring, and attentive to everyone who comes into their community. The environment is very clean, and the residents and staff have a very good rapport with one another. John the Executive Director, and Quintin, the Chief Nursing Executive, are very committed to quality care, and the environment is a reflection of their leadership and compassion for their residents.

My grandmother has been a resident of this facility for more than 19 years. She is obviously a loved and adored resident, I have heard staff members describe her as family .

I live out of state, and I m not able to see my grandmother as often as I would like to. I am provided updates as frequently as I would like them, photos and video chat. I m very impressed with how flexible they are to work with my schedule. I cannot begin to express how important it is to feel that my grandmother is being well taken care of and loved!

Additionally, I am incredibly impressed with the staff and their handling of the COVID-19 Pandemic. During this very scary time, I feel the staff has gone above and beyond to keep in contact with me and updated on all things related to the pandemic.

The rehab facility area is very nice and clean and the staff is very friendly. However, don't get admitted on the weekend or holiday because you will be wasting your time as they WILL NOT PROVIDE THERAPY ON THOSE DAYS. The place is short-staffed. NOT ENOUGH THERAPY WAS PROVIDED. The food is horrible. THEY SEND YOU HOME WITHOUT BEING FULLY STABLE. I only saw the doctor twice for a second! If you just want to come to this place for a vacation, then by all means come have a bad vacation. If you want rehab DO NOT COME HERE. This place should be investigated and shut down. By the way, the name Christian means; A God-given name for the followers of Jesus Christ. Ac 11:26; 26:28. Which means that those following Christ would display his qualities, such as, compassion, pity, love, kindness, helpfulness. Nothing Christian about this place. If at all possible, please DO NOT bring your loved one to this place.

I came here from the hospital to recover from serious injury that threatened my life, paralysis & my ability to walk. I ve been a resident here for several months and I honestly do not have enough words or space to express how pleased I am that I am at this facility. EVERYONE. CNA s, Nurses, Doctors, custodians, front office & especially the rehab team have been professional & amazing. They are invested in you personally and make you feel like family. They are prompt to service your needs and requests. They really care. The rehab team has been beyond incredible with getting me back on my feet & defying the odds. I feel like they are my family because of the love, support & care that I have received. I could go on and on but Mesa Christian Genesis certainty receives a perfect score from me.

Two of my family members have been residents at Mesa Christian. My mom has been there since late 2018 and is now in the long-term care unit. I live a thousand miles away in Texas, so I worry about her a lot. My last visit to her was in March, just before MC closed the doors to visitors. Since then, they have done an exemplary job in keeping the residents, and as much as possible, the staff, safe. They were able to hold off COVID cases in the residents until July, and since then have had very few cases, most of them mild. I know this because the staff has held weekly - at times, daily - Zoom call-in meetings to update family members on what is going on. I feel like their PPE protocols, and more importantly, their caring, has made MC the best place for my mom to be.

The second family member was my sister, who was admitted to MC in early 2019 with Stage IV colon cancer. My mom insisted that she be in the same room with her, and the staff readily made that happen. She had the best care we could hope for, and when she passed away in April, they allowed us to hold the memorial for her there in the facility so that my non-ambulatory mom could attend.

No nursing facility is perfect, but Mesa Christian comes as close as possible.

The place was good at first, it has currently gone down hill and fast, even though they were bought out by a new company and supposed to be IMPROVING. The long term care area is dirty and stinks all the time, the staff is rude, not only to myself but the nurses & CNA'S are rude to my elderly family member.. they don't follow doctors orders and if my family member complains they get threatened and told "maybe you should call your granddaughter and tell her" I've spoken to the head person there and the social worker numerous times with no resolution, I'm currently in the process of moving my family member out. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

This place is a dump. My mother placed my father there for respite care without bothering to look at the facility in person first. The place smells bad, is dirty, and run down. The food looks disgusting. The second night my father was there, my sister walked in to find him laying on the floor of his room. When she asked the nurse on duty to help him up, the nurse was rude and disrespectful and lied about the last time she had been in my father s room to check on him.

I have been with Mesa Christian since November. I absolutely love where I work. Seeing the residents happy and well cared for makes my job enjoyable! Staff and residents are family and we all know each other and genuinely care about each other. We listen to the residents about their needs and make this place a Home for them. I would recommend Mesa Christian as a place for Rehab and for Long Term Care!

Don't take any family member here. Our mom died here, and we live in another state. when we tried to get any kind of information they refused to help us, or let us know where our mom was taken, they hung up on us, and we had no idea where our mom was taken to. Horrible people to deal with, disrespectful, and rude.

I Love the Mesa Christian Center this whole building is life changing. Amber, Lori and Angelica the wonderful ladies at the front desk. Claudia the always smiling and helpful secret weapon of the building the CNA's in this building have such big hearts and kind words Leland is one I would like to mention because I have spoken with very many residents and they all praise him on respect and gentleness; there are many more names to mention but to keep it short housekeeping and kitchen staff and activities all work together with everyone mentioned above keeping this place feeling like a home for the residents and becoming one big family running like a well oiled machine

Worst place ever compared to the eight facilities I have worked. The front office staff are rude & don't have the slightest clue what customer service is. If employed at a facility with a name including "Christian", you would like to believe there are Christian values, kindess, & love. These are the least you will see at Mesa Christian especially from front office staff. Bad representation for the facility if you ask me.

I have worked at Mesa Christian since 2001. I enjoy the staff and the environment we work in. I can't believe what recreation has done in the midst of the pandemic. The creativity has helped the residents stay engaged during this pandemic. The Administration allows us to be flexible and this allows the residents to participate in activities that would have not existed. This is a great staff and center to work at!!

My dying father was transferred here by a home hospice program.

Tiny mattresses on outdated medical beds. Hallways smelled of feces. there was smudged feces on the back of the toilet, when i used the restroom. Comfort and cleanliness don't seem to be a focus.

A nurse was shaving my father when we came to visit, and he was protesting, saying "you've made a mistake, stop this and leave, i don't want a shave" and telling her he did not want to be shaved. the nurse wrongly proceeded. She cut his cheeks up in the process.

When i was looking for water, i had to ask a nurse for it, there was no place within immediate walking distance of the patients rooms to retrieve water. the nurse followed me back to the room to ask my visiting party who else wanted water. When she did so, my father tried to complain to her about the woman shaving him, telling her he did not ask to be shaved, and had specifically asked not to be shaved and the first nurse had insisted he had to. he said this is not right. the nurse COMPLETELY shrugged this off and brought us water without satiating his complaint.

This place is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! My family and I tried to stay positive and tough it out, but they don't even care. When my grandmother arrived for intake the nurse kept repeating how she was at the tail end of three 12-hour shifts and she was ready to go home, not even trying to attend to the needs of my grandmother who was stressed and full of anxiety and then failed to supply her with dinner, expecting my diabetic grandmother who hadn't eaten since breakfast to go without until breakfast the next day. She is gluten free and if they have gluten products, they remove it and fail to replace it with anything. They also delivered her meal to the wrong room on SEVERAL occasions and then told her she was out of luck and had to wait for the next meal.
They also fail to deliver her MEDICATION on time almost every day. Yesterday she asked for her inhaler and it took more than two hours for them to bring it to her and even then her daughter had to ask the nurse--who was standing around laughing with another employee-- to remind her to bring it to her. I am most definitely reporting this place. It needs to be shut down immediately.
They're doing far more harm to the patients than any good. Any positive reviews by this place are obviously by the employees of the company.

Prior to coming to this place I was terrified of old people. I couldn t image spending 6 weeks living with them while I had to be on IV antibiotics.
I m a hair stylist who knows how important customer service is. I have been here for 4 weeks and what I witnessed is genuine care and concern for the people who come in here for rehabilitation.
This is obvious everywhere from the kitchen to the nurses and housekeeping. The CNA s to the rehab staff.
My advice to make your stay more enjoyable is to remember that the staff choose this field because they care about humans. They didn t get into this career to cause more stress in your lives.
Do the rehab. exercises. (So you can go home as fast as possible). Trust the staff. Remember your not the only person in the place. Say please and thank you.
They have an amazing activity center. Tons of things to do to make your days enjoyable. Manicures, hand massages, bingo, etc.
Take advantage of dining in the dining room. It s like eating out three times a day( instead of eating in your room). The food here is pretty good.
All in all I m 42 yrs old and I will be back to volunteer my time. I truly do believe the staff have the residences best interest in mind.

I will just start off by saying that I have been to Sante of Mesa and Montecito in the past and the staff and care that I received at Mesa Christian was beyond compare. Just as others have said it isn't the prettiest but it is clean. The food was good and I was impressed that the dietary manager came to speak to me directly. I cant say enough though about the great care I received from the doctors all the way down to the housekeeping staff everyone was so wonderful. If I ever need another rehab stay it will be with Mesa Christian.

I have NEVER been in a facility with a complete disregard to staff, resident concert, and safety. The most interesting thing about me writing this review is the fact that more than 10 reviews all magically appeared in a week, as if this place was any good. It leads me to believe that these were made up in some way, which only shows how desperate they are in need of good reviews to keep their company running. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone if you're willing to keep your family member safe and healthy.

Discharged from hospital to Mesa Christian. I need to finish antibiotics for my gut and get a bit stronger. Three times yesterday I was left in urine and feces for over half an hour (once over an hour). I asked to see the RN at 1030a and was told she was busy with other patients but when I saw her at 5p for meds she'd never been told I needed to see her. They didn't have my pain meds at all yesterday so my back was in agony. In no way shape or form would I recommend this place.

Come die a miserable death at the hands of the snarky incompetent staff. Why are all the nurses Fat? The memory care director is an obese loud mouth who treated my family with complete disregard. The smug SOB regional director just wants to fill beds and fill his pockets. The assisted living looks like a prison camp and has a brain dead nurse and confused old man attemting to manage the parolee drug soaked clientele that live there. The food is slopped and aerved by an unfortunate simple minded wife battered man. My mother was always hungry and upset while there. We moved her as soon as we could but the guilt I feel for exposing her to that nightmare of an institutiin, as that is what it feels luke, will be with me forever.

Supposingly my Mom is supposed to get 2 showers per week. Yet it's not uncommon for them to only give her one per week, and this is usually only after I have brought it to their attention. This is a previously reported issue. It should be automatic on her scheduled days, or at least an explanation to the family when they are unable to do this.

My mother has been living at Mesa Christian for more than nine years. Until the recent Covid-19 issue, either my husband or myself came to see her every day at dinnertime. The doors shut in March, which was the very best way to handle this, but while I cannot come in the building, I have been given opportunities to speak to my mother by phone as often as I like and teleconference with her on Zoom as well. If my mother says something that I don't understand, which actually happened today, I can reach out to staff and get an answer in short order. Due to the virus, there have been on and off staff shortages, but I am amazed that they have been able to keep an outbreak from occurring. Their attention to details such as sectioning off the building has made this happen. The Recreation Director and her staff continue to move around the building to keep the separated residents engaged in activities. The manager has done weekly calls, escalating to daily calls when he felt it was necessary. You need to be proactive, but the staff is very responsive and they treat my mother with kindness and respect. That is what she deserves and what I expect or she would not still be living there.

My mother just recently was admitted into this place, . Would rate it a 0 but they dont have that option so 1 star it is.

1. I asked a nurse for internet access so my mom can be comfortable and watch Netflix she said she has to go all the way to the next station and said she would get it. 10mins later shes still having a conversation in the hall and i went to the nurses station myself.

2. My mother is a "risk for fall" patient, so she needs assistance to walk. She had her call light on for 20mins before somebody came in. I know a big place is busy and there are other patients but can somebody at least let her know that they are aware she needs assistance and will be with her as soon as they can. Instead they kept walking by the door ignoring the call light. So i drove 13mins just so i can help her myself and they finally decide to come in before i got there. .

3. Had to wipe the toilet down because it had dried pee on it because its a shared bathroom. Should be cleaned at least 2-3x daily.

4.Rooms are hot and they only have a small fan to turn on to cool off.

5. CNAs have long nails which i know in that type of care working with elderly their skin is very sensitive and could tear easily.

6. Her room has not been cleaned since shes been there, asked for toilet paper didnt get it til the next day, asked for a laundry bag never got one.

7. And i have noticed and timed how long it takes nurses to answer a call light and i have seen more then 4 patience turn their call light on and it takes more then 15mins for it to be answered.

8. My mother shares a bathroom and the nurses don't clean after the other patient. They leave the commode full of sh*t they don't wipe the toilet seats afterwards.

Now Im usually the person to read reviews but when a hospital says this place has a 5 star rating you don't question it. Boy was i Wrong. Question everything and do your own research. Hopefully she recovers quickly. I truly would not recommend this place at all.

While experiencing the scariest and most unpredictable moments this year, I watched a team of hero s rise to the challenge. Without hesitation the team at Mesa Christian stood to battle COVID for every single one of our residents- today Mesa Christian stands tall and through challenges we have built an even stronger team. I am amazed and with pride I can say I work along side a team that is full of passion and drive to go beyond measure to care and protect our residents.

Doctor Dinkha stopped by to personally say Sara C. and Nikki Z. Were so helpful, really on top of every pt. I am very happy with them

One of the many great recognitions for this team that makes it an honor to work at Mesa Christian.

DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONES IN THIS FACILITY!! While there are a handful of nurses there that are great, the majority of the remaining staff are a joke. These people do not care about your loved one, nor does the Head Manager, handle issues when you bring them to his attention. My mom was placed there a year and half ago and we are going to move her. We are dealing with the FOURTH bed bug episode and my moms legs have bug bites all over them. They dont do things via protocol, nor do they feed them any decent food (or on time or correct orders). They are constantly understaffed and use that as an excuse, and I have found out a handful of times they have taken 3-4 hours to come and change her, leaving her lying in her own feces or urine. THEY SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN....these people do not care.

Medicare rates this facility in the 4-5 star level...

Medicare rates this facility in the 4-5 star level which helped me pick it out in the first place. If it gets that kind of rating its more like a 5 star rating for the abject poor. I would say up front...outdated environment, understaffed, and in need of some attention to making it a more pleasant environment to stay in. My mother was placed there at two different times June to Sept 2016 and Jan to March 2017 and so I was at the facility frequently and in the end before my mom died (at the facility) I was there every day. Here's some observations and comments about my experience from 2016-2017. MY BIGGEST GRIPE with this facility is that she had been in their care a second time for over 3 months and when she died I did not get ONE CALL from the administrators to give their condolences. They all knew who she was. I had all the nurses always offering me condolences as her time got closer but was APPAULED that administrators didn't even have a policy in place to at least give a condolence call or card considering they had known her two seperate times of at least 3 months each stay.**The appearance inside of the facility needs a complete update and rennovation. It was more like being back in the 60's and the rooms are more like small shared hospital rooms. Although some residents have some personal items thrown in, and there is a TV and sometimes a dresser in the rooms, its still very clinical rather than invitingly homelike. Even though the place is divided into different areas for different levels of care, more attention should be put into making it feel more like home and less like some hospital camp they got sent to. Especially for the long term patients, this becomes their home and it should be a lot more individually tailored if they are going to stay there for years or die there. It should be more like a motel, rather than a hospital environment of just a bed. **The Staff were always cordial and nice to me, the receptionist, the nurses and aides, all the way up to the administrator (Marlena and Kim at the time) and my mom stayed at several different stations within the facility. All around I felt the staff did a good job considering the patient load they had, and the demanding nature of those elderly patients. I never came into see my mother dirty or smelly. My moms personal clothing often got lost (in their laundry system) and personal treats for my mom I brought in never really got used by her. When around staff, I did not hear too much gossip" about the place" or much dissention from the workers about working there. Mostly staff were doing their jobs, at their stations, or in with patients. But they are understaffed big time. **Medical attention and cleanliness: The facility was always clean but did frequently smell of urine or feces as you walked by certain rooms, but considering many of the patients were bedridden this is not uncommon for the type of facility. Still they seemed understaffed especially when It came to general upkeep of patients individually. There is no resident doctor there every day there should be a doctor on site 24/7 not just a NP who comes around once or twice a week. Although my mom, on her second placement there was in much more decline they took good care of her until Hospice was called in for her. That does not mean that it was a good environment for her or for anyone living out a monotonous existence or their last days of life there. It was sterile and depressing. After Hospice was called for her, it seemed "too many cooks" and I had to consult with so many people just to get the point across that I wanted her comfortable as she waited to die. My mother died there in March 2017 in the middle of the night, I missed her last breath by 10 minutes (at least they called me but called me too late) and they removed her body shortly after I got there. I give it 3 stars only because it was clean, and staff were friendly. So many other areas needed improvement or revamping all together especially environment., individual care and some policies.

This facility hired us for our award winning art classes, IN EARLY AUGUST, but they never paid the bill. It has been months since class and I have recieved multiple excuses and zero response to my inquiry and request for their accountants phone number from activities personnel. These business practices destroy small business like mine! Very disappointing....

Update: Finally late October this invoice was paid (WITHOUT LATE FEE AS AGREED TO IN OUR CONTRACT)with a refusal to pay any fees. Stay away entertainers unless you are OK with these terms of payment.

Staff has been wonderful during COVID and the facility has done a wonderful job with keeping residents safe and COVID free. They communicate well and have had daily/weekly updates durning this time. They set up Zoom call with residents and families which helps with the isolation. Facility is older and in need of upgrades for aesthetics.

I moved my mother to Mesa Christian a number of months ago. I had been searching for a skilled nursing facility that was close by where I could drop by and see her numerous times a week. I toured the community and decided to transition her. It was a tough decision because leaving her home was difficult but she needed much more care and supervision than she was getting at home. I worried about her constantly when she was in her home. She was resistant to the move but staying at home was going to lead to disaster. Now I don t worry, I know that now there are professionals looking after her and making sure she is getting her medication and care needs met. I sleep easier and I get to see her almost every day and notice the most important thing- that she is safe and comfortable.

Laura, Admissions Representative, assisted me (social worker), with setting up respite, for the very next day. She was friendly, efficient, professional, helpful, and (quickly) responsive. In my 13-year career as a hospice social worker, it is extremely rare to come across a facility admissions representative that is willing (and able) to assist with setting up an admission for respite this quickly. Many facilities don't even return my call within several days or at all. My patients family caregiver was in desperate need of rest and recuperation and Laura made this happen! I am ever so thankful!

I called to check and see if they were hiring and the receptionist was very rude. I was blown away because that's suppose to be the face of the facility. I was hung up on when I called back and ask for an immediate supervisor. She disconnected the call so here I am writing my review I am a certified LPN and I would never work for this facility ever. Wouldn't even wanna risk my certifications on a place like this

Someone from this facility called me out of the blue and when I called back to see if maybe a family member was placed here, I was given the absolute worst attitude from the front desk woman. It's 2016, it's not hard to provide customer service. I've never been here, and I have no plans on doing so in the foreseeable future.

I am an employee of the facility. I will tell you I have worked in four different facilities and this has been the best by far. It is a pleasent environment to work in, and most importantly, the care is great. What makes the care great is the staff are compassionate and always strive to learn and provide better care. Lastly, the ability to identify weaknesses and build them into strengths is what makes Mesa Christian perfect.

This place murdered my father Lee Mealer in 2010 by first starving him to near death then injecting him with two doses of morphine.
The orderly told me he was going to do it and I thought he was half-joking. Head of the facility, named Ms. DeVille was the culprit who evidently gave the order (according to the orderly who injected the morphine into my dad's open mouth) and refused to give me power of attorney once she grabbed it. This may have been the first murder via Obamacare's pick and choose rules. JL Mealer
