My mother has been living at Mesa Christian for more than nine years. Until the recent Covid-19 issue, either my husband or myself came to see her every day at dinnertime. The doors shut in March, which was the very best way to handle this, but while I cannot come in the building, I have been given opportunities to speak to my mother by phone as often as I like and teleconference with her on Zoom as well. If my mother says something that I don't understand, which actually happened today, I can reach out to staff and get an answer in short order. Due to the virus, there have been on and off staff shortages, but I am amazed that they have been able to keep an outbreak from occurring. Their attention to details such as sectioning off the building has made this happen. The Recreation Director and her staff continue to move around the building to keep the separated residents engaged in activities. The manager has done weekly calls, escalating to daily calls when he felt it was necessary. You need to be proactive, but the staff is very responsive and they treat my mother with kindness and respect. That is what she deserves and what I expect or she would not still be living there.
