The zoo was great. 5 stars. Several unique animals that are uncommon zoo animals. Good size with lots of seating which was helpful for our frequent breaks with a seven month old.

Eating at the zoo. 0 stars. Granted, this was in the midst of a pandemic, but the restaurant experience was beyond ridiculous. 80+ minute wait with only 10-15 groups ahead of us. 10 minute wait to get our food which was already prepared. Food was cold and the bun was smashed.

Yes, the eating dibalacle was bad enough to drop the overall experience to a three. But the zoo was great!

Very pleased. The animals all looked great. The prices are a bit steep for food. I would recommend bringing your own food. They have plenty of resting spots as well as benches and tables to eat. My kids and I enjoyed it!!

This zoo is huge! There were options available for transportation through the zoo grounds so if you find yourself too tired at the end of it you have options back. Navagsting the park was easy with the map and the street style signs. This zoo has a large variety of bears including Panda bears, an aquarium house and a special nocturnal creatures house. It's definitely a place to return and explore again.

An amazing experience with a great diversity of wildlife. The trainers are very knowledgeable and very friendly, easy to strike up a conversation with them. A lot of fun if you've never been here, even more fun if you're familiar with the area. Definitely worth a trip.

My family drove all the way from Columbia, TN and with traffic we didn't get to Memphis, TN til 4:30p but regardless our kids were excited to see some animals even though we knew we wouldn't be able to see them all. At 4:55p we were told 5p was the cut off for entrance, it was 4:55p. The zoo doesn't close until 6p. By the time someone answered the phone, it was after 5p so then we were told, "sorry, it's after 5p now so there's nothing I can do." I won't say the trip was ruined cause we will find somewhere else to spend our day but I will say that's a great way to lose business.

My wife and I went here because we have seen it on TV. I am really glad we did go because it is really awesome to see all the cool exhibits they have for the bears, the cheetahs, wolves and the pandas. There really are a lot more cool things so you need to go visit

My wife and I visited Memphis on vacation and decided to go to zoo lights. I've been to many zoos around the country and this one is unique. I would recommend going to the zoo if you're in the area.

Was very impressed with the Memphis zoo. The majority of the exhibits were great. The hippo exhibit was one of the more "natural environments" as the water was pretty murky and somewhat difficult to see under water beyond a few feet. I was very impressed with the Arboriculture aspect of the entire park. Lots of beautiful, properly maintained trees lined the walkways providing plenty of shade throughout the day. The Lodge at Teton Pass was beautiful as well! Overall, a great way to spend the day with the family!

My family and I visited the zoo/aquarium during the Covid-19 pandemic. The zoo met our expectations. The restaurants/concession stands were closed (as we expected) however ice cream stations were available in the right areas to cool ya off. The stingray exhibit was open (paid exhibit) however we did not enter as my kids were not interested in getting that close and personal. There were some animal exhibits that were closed but again it was not anything that spoiled our visit. My kids are all males ages 15, 13, and 5 and they all enjoyed it.

We got there at about 10am....most animals were trying to lay in the shade and seem to be tired...but at least they were still visible. Wish we knew when it was feeding time or best time to see interactions....but that would have just been a perk had we known.

Suggestions: bring a cooler with cold drinks and snacks and if you have a small one..I would suggest a wagon or stroller...it s a lot of walking.

Pandemic Points: no lines and we felt totally safe with social distancing and masks being adhered to.

We went during the rain and we were so happy even still! The zoo property is well cared for and beautiful! They have animal keeper chats at specific times, so pay attention to the schedule and go listen to the keeper talk about your favorite animal ...and ask questions! Animals appear to be well cared for...yes, they are in a zoo...so they're not as happy as could be in the wild. Most seem contempt and staff seem passionate about ALL the animals, all were quick to help us and answer all of our million questions! This zoo is most definitely worth going too!!!!

This zoo isn't all that big, which actually makes it easier to see everything you want to without having to rush. We spent about 4 hours meandering around the park and saw just about everything we wanted to. The most pleasant surprise about the Memphis zoo was the quality. Lots of cool and interesting animals that were quite lively, especially for later in the day. The park was very clean and organized too. We also came during their October fest going on right now which was super fun! I'm not a beer drinker at all but I even thought some were pretty good! I hope they continue to host events like this because we will definitely go! My only issue was masks or face coverings were only recommend in the majority of the outdoor exhibits. Which is understandable since its out doors, but most people weren't wearing anything in crowds. Its unfortunate that if only recommend to protect the safety of others people don't think its as important or necessary. I'd love for places like this to remain open and hosting events without risking an outbreak in our community.

We love the Memphis Zoo! It has so many awesome exhibits and animals. I really love that even on days where it is very busy, it never feels too crowded walking around in the Zoo. Days where we have nice weather and/or the spring/summer months tend to be the busiest times of the year to go, so plan ahead. We have found that it is always easiest to go as soon as the zoo opens in order to beat the crowds and heat.

During the warm months, there are concessions available throughout the zoo. When it is cold and less busy, only the Cat House Cafe is open. I really appreciate that bathrooms with changing tables are readily available everywhere you go. I also really appreciate that the bathrooms are always clean! If we don t want to wait in the concession lines, we will bring food with us for the kids so they can get a quick bite to eat.

I highly recommend a visit to the zoo! It s one of the top Zoos in the country for a reason!

TIP: if you live in Memphis or close by, I would suggest getting a zoo membership. They pay for themselves in just a few visits and the membership entrance lines are ALWAYS shorter than the regular cashier windows. Also, it s really nice to get member discounts in the zoo shops.

Good zoo, just shocked/disappointed at the amount of space the animals had to roam in. This may only be for showing but even then for a good 8hrs they are quite confined. Did notice toward the end of the day the animals started pacing in their enclosures, not sure if this was due to the time or they are bored.

Best zoo I have ever been to! Amazing variety of animals and the zoo is designed in a way to make the animals more interactive. Plenty of sidewalk space and places to eat inside. For only $15, it's worth every penny

The Zoo Animals and Staff are great. Food portions are good, gift shop staff was very friendly. The only negative issue was the Turkey Club Sandwich my wife couldn't eat, the bread was wet from the tomato and lettuce, it seemed it was in cooler to long. Hamburgers, Hotdog and fries were good.

Animals were great and very active! The enclosures were pretty nice, but didnt see any water out for some of the animals. Saw only a couple employees there, thought there would be more for any questions. the parking was not too bad unless you are there until close, then it's bad to get out. We will definitely go again!

More to it than I expected. Came on a quiet, cool weekday; lots of animals visible.
Take the time to see different viewing angles in exhibits. They have them set up in such a way you can usually see the animals or in a way you haven't before.

My family and I were visiting Memphis for the week...

My family and I were visiting Memphis for the weekend. We have a 4 year old son and I'm well into my pregnancy, so we decided to go first thing in the morning when they opened. Of course there were the obvious benefits like the cooler weather and if you didn't have prepaid tickets the lines were incredible short (especially over a holiday weekend - we went over Labor Day weekend). Tickets were well priced for the type of zoo it was. It offered a lot in the way of exhibits and amenities such as playgrounds, cafes and a large wading pool at the entrance.

I thought I would be miserable, but the park was in a older neighborhood in which we noticed the beautiful homes and mature trees as we were driving toward the zoo. There were so many shade trees that the heat didn't really bother me and the zoo had prepped for the heat (since it's of course Memphis) and had out fan with misters placed sporadically throughout.

We were there only 2 and a half hours, so we didn't eat there other than ice cream. We couldn't tell you about the prices for food. And since our son can walk without easily getting tired we didn't use the zoo's rental strollers. The wading pool was closed as we entered and left the zoo because they hadn't brought out the lifeguard and that was one thing we were disappointed in not using especially by the time we left we all had worked up a good sweat. I definitely would recommend the zoo for families and there is a conference center there for those who would like an opportunity to do an offsite venue.

The exhibits are awesome and have plenty of room. When you walk in you have a water way that the kids can walk and play in and they also have a play area where the kids can play in the water spots. The shows are great and informative.

The Memphis zoo is always an amazing trip. It was amazing when I was a child. It was amazing when I took my children. But it is a whole new special kind of amazing to take my grandkids and my mom so that four generations of us can enjoy it.
Thank you for being a great place Memphis Zoo.

One of the best zoos in the country (google it and see). Always working to do major improvements in the animal habitats. Don't miss their events (Zoo Lights, Zoo Boo, Zoo Brew, Zoo Rendezvous, etc.), which are a lot of fun.

Zoo brew was fun. Good atmosphere. Good wide variation of beer. Some were better than others. I would definitely go again in the future. I think the Iceland beer was the winner for this night. Great guy's night out.

Hands down the best zoo I have ever been to! All exhibits are amazing! Kids love it, especially getting wet (so make sure you have some towels/change of clothes in your car for when you leave). After living in Houston for the past 5 years, realize that I took the ease of parking at Memphis Zoo for granted -- yes, you have to pay a small amount but it is worth it.

Check out the new Dinosaur exhibit! So much fun. Animatronic dinosaurs that are close to actual size. There is a fossil area, where little ones can uncover fossils in the sand. You can even get a picture at the end on top of the triceratops at the end!

This is a great zoo! Being from Fort Worth, TX, I thought it would be hard to top our zoo, but Memphis does it. The enclosures are built in a way that makes you feel closer to the animals, and they were all quite active the day we were there. Great way to spend a day in Memphis!

The China and Teton exhibits were fantastic. The zoo was much larger than we were expecting. My daughter was especially excited to see the sloths. My favorite was being able to see the Hippos in the water. Don't forget to check out the Lego displays scattered throughout the zoo all summer.

Very organized zoo, had some interesting exhibits like panda, stingray etc. The giraffe feeding and stingray cove was quite enjoyable. However, they had several exhibits closed off, possibly because of Coronavirus. The sea-lion show was cancelled but it was not communicated to the people. Also you are supposed to bring your own map to avoid touching and no water fountain anymore which was annoying. Still they had lots of sanitizing stations - great effort on their part. As always, you get free entry after 2pm on Thursday but parking is $5. But it was not crowded at all.

Today my husband had a problem with his knee. There were two young men who came and picked us up and also drove us by the elephants to make sure that we saw the new additions before we left. Those young men did not have to do that for us. Great experience and we will always come back!!! Wish those guys would get rewarded for their wonderful treatment of us.
