MedBar La Penthouse, Mediterranean Restaurant Review

Not very friendly.... was sat outside and then asked for our chairs at 11pm as they were packing them away???!!

Really enjoyed my meal here. Fun atmosphere which made me feel like I was on holiday. Food was very yummy, I had halloumi fries and vegetable paella. 2-4-1 on cocktails which were delicious too. Very clean environment and staff were attentive.

Found a member of staff rude wouldn't swap a drink that was ordered by mistake. Apart from that good place.

This place can be quite hit and miss but it does do good cheese nights

Went here for a work event and if it wasn't for the free drink (from work) definitely would have asked for my money back. Bar staff was inattentive and the food was obvious from frozen box meals.

Amazing service, incredible food! Thank you Daniel especially as he was so lovely, showed us where the toilets were, had a friendly chat with us, and everyone else who has made us feel so welcome there! Service was spot on, never had to wait for a drink! This is now my regular bar and I will be coming whenever I can, thank you to the team at medbar! You guys are amazing and you will be my regular!

First time here it was great looking forward to go again. How ever we were charge 5 pound entry to enter which we had no clue about. The guy at the door took entry free which was a bit weird, he said it's normal but on the website we saw nothing. It's only a 5 but would be good to know before hand

Good place open till 2pm on Saturdays. Nothing overly special but nothing to criticse about it.

Literally asked the bar tender if they give a drink to someone if it s their birthday as other bars on Oxford street do and he said no and walked off before I had time to place an order as a fairly regular customer I am not impressed by this. Such a shame that the customer service isn t up to scratch. Very rude staff.

Went there on a Sunday, food was bad cooked, service so slow. It took about 40 minutes from ordering to get the main meal, when it came it was small sized for the price, calamari where rubbery, mussels came cold and shell was broken so when you eat it can feel it crunching in your mouth... shocking. On a possitive note, the guy serving (serving cooking and doing everything else because was only 1 staff) was very polite and friendly, but not coming back for sure.

Looking for a decent club to visit, then you won't be disappointed when you visit Medbar. The music is good, drinks are ok, although the bartender did not know what a Cuba libre or a dark and stormy was ... But overall a good night out on the town.

We had a lovely meal last night for 8 people, the food was spectacular and the service was perfect, a lovely evening and well recommended

Really good food, great cocktails and a fab atmosphere

Overpriced, way too loud and filled mostly with either teenagers or 50+ businessmen which is an interesting combo... The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because I loved the awkwardness when the DJ played a remix of R Kelly's 'Age aint nothing but a number' song. And the bass upstairs feels nice as well.

Purchased a Groupon for cocktails and mezzes, when going to book could not get through on the phone. Decided to just go down there at 2pm, not open. Went back at 5pm to be told there was not kichen open and to call back during the week. The lady behind the bar was not sure when the kichen would be open... Which was not very helpful!!

It was a great experience.... and the staff was very hospitable... will definitely go back

Good music and choice of drinks. Watch out for the street promotors offering free shots with you first drink.

My only comment is that it is above a lively bar with loud music. This may put a few people off. The restaurant is quiet and relaxed and nothing like the 18-30s bar!!

Always lovely in here, recently went for a 2 course dinner and cocktails and it was even better than the mezze plates ( although they were amazing to lol) x

Couldn t leave no stars have a group on voucher they let me book a table and everything and then said they don t accept the voucher anymore go straight back onto Groupon and the vouchers are still for sale some sort of con going on here

Bar person tried to rip me off by insisting i had ordered doubles, i asked her to split the double between two the two drinks i had ordered as she had only poured one and she refused and called the bouncer. I was then thrown out having not been abusive or actually done anything wrong. Once outside we were told we were chucked out as we were old and ugly!
I emailed the next day to explain what had happen and no reply, clearly the management are in on this too!
Unless you are young, beautiful and dont mind being ripped off i wouldn't go here!

Atmosphere in Medbar is always incredible. Best cocktails, best bar, staff members respects the customers. Manager is always on top of his work. I love Medbar

Amazing food. The humus was lovely I wanted to take some home ha! Cocktails are so good!! Worked around our timings so we could use our groupon voucher. Would recommend and will return! Staff are very friendly!

It was amazing, stunning decoration, outstanding staff; always there to help. The drinks are awesome cocktails and mock tails alike.
The mocktails they offer are:

And their signiture medbar special.
Would recommend to anyone in the whole of Southampton!

Staff is rude! Never coming or bringing any of my friends there again
