The pool hall downstairs is too crowded. Either over capacity or understaffed or maybe both. It felt like the majority of our time there was spent waiting. Waiting to sit down, waiting for a server, waiting for some recreation to open up, etc. It was not a very enjoyable experience.

I love going here! Tons of things to do! Food is amazing at the power house! The spa is relaxing and beautiful. There is cool artwork everywhere. I've stayed in the ladies dorm a few times and it's always clean and relatively quiet. What a great place to visit!!!

Mcmenamins at Edgefield is incredible.

The plethora of things to do and places to visit is just incredible.

The garden, golf course, taverns, restaurant, winery, exploring the grounds. It's truly a beautiful and breathtaking place.

Quite a beautiful old facility. Many outbuildings they've repurposed, and the staff are very helpful, patient, and friendly.

One of these days I'll stay for a while instead of dropping in on the way to Portland.

This review is based off of 5 different evenings here. The service in the powerhouse pub is progressively bad. Prices have increased and food quality and quantity have stayed the same. The beer is 2 outa 10 on a northwest culture scale. The distiller liquids are $$$. And some wines are ok.
A 60 minute massage at ruby spa felt like it was 15 minutes per appendage and you're done with no positive energy transfer. Stayed the night in the admin house .... 12 people 1 shower and 1 wedding to get ready for. No wifi. Ridiculous. Over $200 a. Night gets you no comp breakfast or anything just a bleached bathrobe to walk around in.
Overall this place has quaint grounds to walk around but is as expensive as Disney land now with bad service and lacking the heart to take care and impress people.

Always a favorite, lots more variety for food and drink.. Love the Power Station movie theater.
If you arrive early you can order your food and drink to eat inside the theater!
Beautiful grounds, lots to see year round.

Edgefield is a great place to stop after hiking, though frequently busy depending on when you're there. The golf course is limited, but sufficient for some inexperienced and or family fun. They have a larger beer, pizza, and general food selection than most McMenamins, but similar (and somewhat lacking) service/staffing. There's lots of parking if you don't mind using the field, and you'll often have to, particularly during events and concerts. Also, don't forget to bring your passport.... There's a lot of stamps to collect!

Every McMenamins that I have been to differs; with the only similarity being the antique decors and bathrooms that are probably not up to standard. This is no exception, as there were no changing tables for infants anywhere within their facilities.

With that out of the way, the food was excellent. The pastrami burger was unlike anything I have ever had. The service, on the other hand, was a bit sub-par. I find that having to ask for refills for water and coffee repeatedly got tiresome.

The Edgefield is a beautiful and wonderful place to stay. It is filled with art and the history of its past. You can spend time walking though the garden, sitting in the soaking pool, watching a movie, golfing, listing to music, eating, drinking , looking at the art, or simply doing nothing ... I find myself going back again and again . You will not be disappointed .

Edgefield is amazing. I have visited several times during the day to grab a pint and lunch with family. On my most recent visit, my father and I decided to stay the night as it was close to the airport rather than drive from a couple hours away. We checked into a wonderfully large room which was decorated and furnished perfectly matching the theme of the rest of the place. After that we went to one of the restaurants and had burgers which were great. They even indulged my father on a medium-rare burger. Our only complaint is that they didn't have onion rings, apparently they used to. After that, we ran up the hill to a place where they had a speaker and listened to a gentleman give an hour presentation on the Missoula Floods and how it affected the Oregon Trail. It wasn't up my alley, but many people from the community were there and it was a neat thing to see! The rest of the night had us grabbing a drink at each building and wandering outside fire to fire. Talking to staff and guests. It was an absolutely wonderful time! At one point I got to enjoy live mellow music in the Winery room (?). That was probably the highlight of my night. I know my father had a great time. I'm very confident I will be back to do this again. I feel it important to share that I came during a week day the week following Thanksgiving. Beyond the lecture, it felt like the place was almost empty. I am not sure what it would be like during a busy weekend.

The environment is awesome, the vibe is cool but the food is so-so unless you eat at the Black Rabbit restaurant. Saw Garcia Birthday Band there yesterday for the 75th birthday celebration of Jerry Garcia and had a blast.

A great spot for a short vacation, especially if you like to drink your day away.

I went here to view the 2017 eclipse along with a few family members, and I found the hotel / boutique resort charming, if a little lacking in things to do other than wander around with a drink in hand. Don't get me wrong: that's a perfectly valid way to spend your day if that's your thing, but I like a little more on the plate.

The grounds themselves are well-kept, with a turn-of-the-century charm that's been carefully sculpted through the vintage decor and hundreds of tiny details such as wall paintings, furniture and the like. The main hotel is a wonderful place just to wander around to soak in all the details, and though it's a bit dark it photographs well if you know what you're doing.

The main attraction are the grounds, which are a bit of a maze, adding to the charm. You can pop into any one of nearly two dozen 'bar shacks' on the property to top up your drink or sample new ones, while checking out things like the orchard, distillery, wine cellars, sauna and more. It's a chill way to spend your day, though I wouldn't recommend it in really hot weather.

There's a movie theatre on-site as well as a few restaurants, each with their own menu and the food is both generous and delicious. You could easily spend a few days trying different meals from each place alone.

The area around McMenamins has a wealth of sites to see, mainly concentrated on the Columbia Gorge tourist area, with its forested riverbanks and many waterfalls to tour, all of them excellent. Spend at least a day driving around before you decide to head to larger nearby cities, which have far less charm than the small towns nearer at hand.

I recommend McMenamins as a 'getaway' destination: come here to relax, disconnect from the busy world, and enjoy a slower pace of life that people once had a century ago. Bring a few books, some boardgames and a plan to smile your way through a relaxing day, and you'll be happy.

We come to the Edgefield every year and it is always a delight. From the numerous bars on site, to the soaking pool to the spa, everything here is fantastic. I frequently find myself recommending this location to anyone visiting Portland or anywhere remotely close. The rooms are decorated so nicely. Most rooms do have bathrooms down the hall, which some dislike, but do allow some georgous large claw foot tubs for soaking. Highly recommended

Fun place to stay and explore. It is my favorite McMenamins so far of all in the portland area, coast and Bend. We had a good sized king room with shared bath which had A/C, which was wonderful, given the hot temps. Not all their rooms have A/C.

My favorite of the McMenamins property locations! The soaking pool is worth staying the night and the prices are very fair. The property is GORGEOUS. There are magical gardens and tiny bars everywhere. Golfing here is really fun even if you don't golf all the time (they have everything you need and the courses are really short).
We had a round right before sunset.
There are rabbits everywhere hiding in the blackberry tangles!

The restaurant was amazing...Scott was a great server!!! Went back the next day to purchase a gift card for a wedding because of our fabulous experience...however 1 person at the gift shop not great...which was the 4th place I tried to buy a gift card at...they were complaining about other customers before we approached and the one was very cold and unfriendly to us. I myself work in the service industry and was dissappointed at the last impression.

Stayed in a small room with a friend and had a great time walking around and sitting in the soaking pool. The room wasn't air conditioned but was comfortable with the fan they provided. I'm not fan of the shared bath set up, but they were clean and overall it was definitely worth it. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Didn't get a chance to take advantage of the pitch and put course... next time!

Pretty crazy place, it's like a mini town, a lot to do too. Had a company party here and it was handled well by the staff, food was excellent too, parking is the only downfall, it can be a little hard
